i remember whwen this place was called jade green, orgreen jade, [well either way] i would go there from time to time. a very clean place and very friendly waiters .i like the fact that you can eat all u can for a decent price. i tend to over do it when i come here. i reccommend anyone to try this place if you havent already! you wont be dissappointed, apparently nutley high school lunches are lousy as when its the school season and i come here there is always a group of high schoolers here [ they arent noisy mind you] but it goes to show even when this was called green jade it was a great place to have lunch

It’s sad to watch green jade fall from being the 2nd best in town to what it is now. About 9 years ago a rat ran across the dining room while I was there. I haven’t been back. Until last night. Meh buffet I wouldn’t eat that sushi. The best was the non English speaking woman digging in her nostril while standing next to the buffet. I asked her if she found anything. Shortly after I saw her serving rice with ungloved hands. 2 words ugh and barf

Came in with my friends during lunch service. Definitely a good place to come to if you’re on a budget. Small selection of food but for what they had, or tasted pretty good!

Friday nite July 17 th the worst experience ever. My daughter and I were seated, went for our food sat down ate 2 clams 2 shrimp and 2 pieces of sushi before getting into a argument with these two horrible, old ladies that were trouble when they first came in giving the waiter a hard time about their seating. So if someone turns to you ask you what ur lookin at and u respond u being rude, don’t say mind your business. Then don’t ask what we were lookin at. So the manager did nothing about them, and I say I’m leaving give me the bill they had the audacity to charge me full price for us both when we had barely any thing, should of at least here’s a gift cert. for you to come back and finish your meal at a better time. That’s fine cause I got a good look into their kitchen and boy you will never see me there again unless I want the runs. Let’s faced people it’s not the cleanest place I’d rather eat off a food truck. Well good people eat at your own risk. Not to mention a nutley policeman was there and came over because of the scene, ha a joke. Anybody want a outstanding buffet try Tokyo buffet in seacucus blows ginger away and such fresh items they 4 stars not ginger they get two thumbs down.

Nice little local buffet and actually I would give it 3 and a half stars, but 4 stars for being close and convenient to me. For some reason my wife and kids never have a problem when I suggest going here which is another plus towards the 4 star rating. It is in the heart of this quaint village so it is little smaller than buffets off main highways, However selection is decent and they do a good job keeping things restocked. As far as the sushi, it will mostly be avocado and crab based, but there will be some raw fish choices as well and it does satisfy. This is not a Japanese buffet, so I give them credit for at least offering fresh made sushi even if it is mostly for the amateur sushi lover. I have been coming for 4 years and it is generally consistent. Service is friendly and there is adequate metered parking in the rear lot. Give it a try if you are near by!

Been here a few times during the day for lunch. Price is reasonable and the place is clean. They are constantly making and bringing out great sushi. There is also a selection of jello, fruit, and ice cream.

I have a love and hate relationship with Ginger. I have been going here since High school since it was literally down the block. Their buffet has a big variety although they don’t always have much different sushi selections for lunch, for that come during dinner. They used to serve drinks but I guess they don’t anymore from the last time that I was there. We usually order delivery from here to our home, 90% of the time everything is correct but those rare 10% something is missing, wrong, or takes forever to be delivered three blocks away. Like I said before though, my «love and hate relationship» with ginger will probably go on.

We checked out Ginger for my daughter’s birthday dinner. At the ripe old age of 8, she’s developed quite the taste for sushi… and since the Unilocal reviews for Ginger were decent, we figured we’d give it a whirl. We’ve frequented several of the Nothern NJ Chinese buffets and they are all more or less the same… at all of them, you get buttloads of okay Chinese food. What sets these restaurants apart from one another is the price. The price at Ginger is unbeatable. For four adults and two kids(one of which ate her weight in sushi) to eat dinner the bill came to $ 81.00. My husband filled his plate with various pieces of sushi and sashimi several times. He found it to be fresh and tasty. The other available options were standard buffet faire– most of it seems like it spent a little to much time basking under the heat lamps. But again… for the price? I’ll deal. You don’t go to a buffet looking for quality, you go to a buffet looking for a deal. Ginger is a deal.

Wow these people are psycho! My friend could not finish the sushi rice on the sashimi. They owners then proceeded to tell her she had to eat it or they would call the cops? They actually called the cops because she didn’t eat the rice! If the bill was paid for who cares what she didn’t eat. We will never be going there again. Horrible service and horrible to be treated this way especially in front of children.

Really not as bad as i feared(my parents went to their Chinese buffet for lunch on a weekday, and came back quite disappointed). Got the Pad Thai delivery, and it was very meh… the portion size was very large, but it was flavorless, the noodles were limp and without texture, and it is definitely not something I’d order again. Their dumplings are pretty traditional(thin skin), but something is missing… not salt, but… maybe a balance of a few more veggies with the meat? Hard to pin-point, but I will say that I haven’t ordered from Ginger nearly as often as I’ve ordered from some of the other Chinese restaurants in the area. There’s nothing that makes this place stand out, or even good enough to continue ordering from again, so while the food is edible and doesn’t me sick, there really is no specific reason to come to this restaurant verses the sushi restaurants across the street, the Thai restaurant next door, or the Chinese restaurant(for delivery since it’s much further away).

This is our go-to Chinese buffet. They don’t have the widest variety of Chinese food, but what they offer the common Chinese dishes and they’re the same good quality every time. They also have a nice selection of sushi to choose from. This place has great service. We’re a regular here so they know which table and drinks we prefer so the service is quick. Bottom line is that for the price they charge, I think you’re getting the most bang for your buck.

It’s just not worth it! This place is fairly average, but there are SO many other options that«average» just doesn’t cut it. I’ve gone here a couple times and if they want to get great reviews, I think they should have something that makes them stand out… something worthwhile to actually come to this place instead of some other place. Instead, they’re simply not anything that great and I would much rather spend my money somewhere else that at least tries to impress me.

Ginger seems to be a decent chinese buffet. There delivery quality is slightly higher than buffet quality which is understandable. There sushi seems to be lacking something compared to the other local sushi places.

It’s not a bad buffet! I mean, I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. It is what it is and it’ll do if you’re nearby. It’s small selection to choose from, but the steamed ginger fish is probably one of the better cooked ones I’ve had in comparison to other buffets. Nothing spectacular but still a worthy option if you love seafood like me. They have brown rice for those on that kick. Chicken wings are good, sushi is just passing. A little too much rice if you ask me. Service is decent, but then again I was here for a private party. Actually, I’m only here during private parties. Definitely come here for the crab rangoons. I cannot resist them! Always thin and crunchy.

Attempting to try a new place for sushi & chinese food near the house, I Unilocal searched Ginger. After seeing the low ratings they have, I decided to give it a chance anyway. I really should have listened to my fellow Unilocalers. I placed an order for pickup, as I was told that delivery would be well over an hour before it got to me. Granted it was a Friday night at dinner time, so I can totally understand. Requesting no onions in the fried rice and no broccoli in the sesame chicken while placing my order(and having it read back to me word for word), my order would be ready in 30 minutes I was told. When I walked in, the restaurant was not overly busy but the kitchen looked hopping. I paid for and picked up my order. When we started dishing out the food, I found that there were onions in the pork fried rice & broccoli with the chicken. Grrrrrr. Granted the sesame chicken was some of the best quality chicken I have seen from a restaurant. So thumbs up for that. The sushi was eh. When I order something spicy, I want SPICY! Not not even mild. I don’t understand why classify something as spicy when its not even close to being there. I don’t know if I will be back here again. I don’t even think I would recommend it to anyone. But I am the sushi girl in the house and I was definitely NOT happy with the way they made my rolls. The buffet looked good and well kept while walking through so maybe that is what they are best for.

Ginger used to be called the Green Jade, a place I spent far too many Fridays at in high school. Thankfully the new ownership has upped the quality and added some terrific sushi, adding up to a solid buffet experience. I rolled in for lunch, which is $ 10 lunch on weekends and holidays, $ 8 weekdays. Like I said before, the sushi is great. There are six full stations of different Asian and American foods to sample. Dishes range from traditional General Tso chicken to shrimp to jello. JELLLOOOOO! Also keep an eye out for the soft serve machine. You can never go wrong with those. Basically if you are looking for a buffet in the Nutley area, park yourself at Ginger.
