Not horrible but I won’t be back. The experience was«eh». The supposed«happy hour» didn’t apply to our Tuesday night margaritas betweeen 5 and 7. The drinks are STRONG but overpriced and very sugary. And so continues my search for a delicious margarita happy hour! Let me know if anyone has better suggestions in the area. The bartender didn’t suck, but she was mediocre at best. And there were a total of 5 people there during happy hour.

This my neighborhood spot so I like it. They serve food late and I can pop in and have a drink in sweatpants. BUT — The bartenders do suck. Completely suck. You have to beg to get a drink. They are nice enough so I feel bad saying that. The food is subpar, I only eat there if it’s super late and I have no other options. And finally: the regulars. They have some of the most creepy, bizarre regulars in the world. The bar is an ugly person bar for sure. The regulars are so annoying and they are always there. It’s like if the weird kid from every high school now hangs out as Tequila Jacks. But, full disclosure, I will probably end up there tonight for a quick night-cap. I heard a rumor they are going to become a wine bar, which seems stupid as well. This place works because it has outdoor seating, dirty floors and creeps galore. Don’t try to take the high road.

Sometimes I wonder how this place is still in business. Every time I walk by there is only a handful of people. The place is dark and dingy and not very well kept up. I made the mistake of ordering dinner from here one night as I was in the mood for a little Mexican. Ohhhh what a mistake. The burrito was tiny and dry and is a little expensive for what you are actually getting. I did give them two stars because the appetizers are actually very good. I do on a frequent basis enjoy getting the beef nachos for the games but always get it to go as this place has a certain stale smell that does not mix well with food. I would have given them three stars if there food prices were a little lower. As for alcohol their prices are equivalent to any NYC bar you will find but the atmosphere is a little lacking. As I said previously I have never seen more than a few people in this place. even on a Saturday Night. The Kinsale Tavern is next door and is a better spot to grab drinks with your friends.

So awful that my experience here compelled me to become a Unilocal member, to warn you to avoid Tequila Jacks at all costs. The experience I report here happened on the afternoon of Sunday 6th of June. I tell you that because the crux of the complaint here is about the bar tender, and that may differ through the week. What myself and friends wanted: 1. A couple of cheap and reasonable margaritas. 2. Some decent Tex Mex pub food, specifically: nachos; two buffalo chicken burgers; chicken burrito; veggie burger but in a wrap(not a huge ask). It’s not much is it? Well you’d think it was the way it went on… What we got: 1. Watered down margaritas which seemed to vary drastically from one to another in taste, and strength. They were not prepared as they were ordered, and never delivered to our table, i.e. 3 at time. Each time one or two were prepared someone had to jump up and go collect. 2. Nachos actually quite good; two buffalo chicken burgers one with complimentary thumb shaped hole in the bun(bar tender actually cracked a joke about this); wrap with bell peppers and cheddar cheese only; and finally… after several times of asking…~25mins…no burrito arrives, reason reported as «technical difficulty», finally the chicken burrito appears, with beef in it! I wonder, was the«technical difficulty» the conundrum of making a chicken burrito, without chicken? Due to her comatose state it’s hard to say where the bar tender’s apathy ended, and outright incompetence began. After messing up the order, thumb printed burger, waiting, and waiting etc she plonked the beef burrito on the bar, I couldn’t stomach it, I asked her to deliver it to the table, pull your finger your out! If I were the owner/manager of this place I’d give the bar tender her marching orders, she’s bad for business. However, I suspect they don’t care, if they did she wouldn’t be there in the first place!

Uhm, wow, well that was terrible. Some friends and I were wandering around the UES craving outdoor seating, margaritas and some mex food on a lazy sunday afternoon. We got all of the above — but it was all so poorly executed! The margaritas were thoroughly watered down — after two pretty big ones, I didn’t feel a thing. My friend’s chicken burrito came out 30 minutes after everyone else’s food as a beef burrito, due to «technical difficulties» — really? I mean, it’s a burrito. My veggie burger wrap, came out as a wrap with undercooked bell peppers and cheddar cheese — and that’s it. The service was spotty — at best, even though there was only 1 or 2 other tables there. The staff was too lazy to bring the food and margs to our table — they’d just kind of throw it on the bar and yell in our general direction. The only redeeming quality was that the margs were cheap and the nachos were ok. The rest of the food tasted atrocious. The bartender was high as a kite. The table was dirty… seriously, the whole thing was a terrible experience. STAYAWAY. STAYAWAY.

After missing the fresh gyoza and sushi poppers at Japan Day, all my hungry friends and I wanted were some margaritas and some outdoor seating, we certainly found that at Tequila Jack’s — along with overwhelming sense of disappointment. We really weren’t expecting anything spectacular, just some decent bar food at least. After my meal here, it felt like such a waste of calories that I wanted to throw it up so I could actually have a good meal. Where to start — The Service. HORRIBLE. There was no waitress service because there was only one bartender at the bar, which was understandable. I went up to the bar to order our drinks and food. When the bartendress repeated it back to me, she couldn’t get it right. So I offered to write it down for her, but she was too suborn to. I repeated the order again, and she said she got it. So surprise surprise when our food came out, more than half the orders weren’t even close. She tried to be cute and make it up by getting us to dance and we were just not having it at all. The food was meh. The nachos were decent pub fare nachos, but the ranch dressing to my buffalo chicken sandwich tasted a bit sour. Oh… and my buffalo chicken sandwich also had someone’s finger mark stuck in it. I’ve added a picture of it for your enjoyment. yum. I’m also disappointed in myself and my friends for not checking Unilocal before entering this establishment. Recommendation: DONOTGOHERE.

Happened upon this place while looking for a boozer near my hostel that wasn’t going to break the bank or make my ears bleed with an aural assault of bad music. I found it too. The thing that made this place for me is the staff. They provided us with friendly service and conversation throughout the night and put up with our drunken shenanigans. The food here is also quite tasty and they have a decent enough range of beers. I’d recommend it for a quiet drink and an evening snack and maybe a bit of drunken chit-chat with the locals.

Just ordered delivery from here, and I have to say I wasn’t super impressed. The veggie burrito was pretty good. Chips and guacamole, on the other hand, were terrible. I usually LOVE chips and guac, but the chips tasted like dirty fry oil and the guacamole had a weird flavor that I couldn’t quite place. Also, the delivery guy didn’t have change. Seriously? I only had $ 20’s, and the total was $ 21. I gave him $ 40, shrugging my shoulders while I did. He said, «No, that’s too much.» Yes, it sure as hell was. He tried to scrounge around with the security guards at my building, and somehow returned with $ 4(not entirely sure how…). He then said that next time I ordered there it would be free — not sure if I believe him, as there’s no way to verify this. So yeah, I ended up paying $ 36 for a crappy $ 21 meal. I’m slightly annoyed.

Not sure why this place gets such a bad wrap. A close friend of mine was living in an apartment down the street and we stumbled across the bar while looking for a good spot to have dinner. The burritos were excellent, while the quesadillas were just«alright,» but the free chips and salsa and cheap drink specials were a definite plus. It wasn’t very busy, though it was still earlier in the evening, and the bar tender was very friendly and gave us that much more attention. I intend to go back for football on a Sunday afternoon, as I have walked by and noticed the bar tends to be a lot busier then, and seems to have a fun atmosphere. Overall, I had a fairly decent experience, so I wouldn’t write the bar off entirely from some of these other reviews… Give it a shot!

From my one unexpected visit there, I’d rate this place 3.5 stars. I would probably agree with the other people’s reviews as it is a neighborhood bar(and not enough for anyone to go out of their way to eat/drink there). My friends and I were staying half a block away from this place, so we went there Sunday afternoon to get some pre-music festival drinks. It had a bad garbage-like smell when we went there, and it was quite empty too when we were there. But aside from that, they had a great drink special: $ 8.99 for all you can drink for 2 hours(mimosa, margarita, mojito)! The bartender was really nice and friendly. We also got chips and salsa to nibble on. It was just a pleasant way to pass a Sunday afternoon with good friends and drinks. One friend later had a steak fajita, and he said the food was decent. Nothing special about this place, but if I live near that area, then I’d consider going there for cheap drinks.

Ok, we walked over to Tequila Jack’s since it’s quite close and we wanted Tex Mex. This is what we experienced: 1. THELOUDEST, MOSTOBNOXIOUS, «I AMTHECOOLESTPERSONEVER» BARTENDER being sooo loud that we were sitting at a table and could still hear her over the music. Dude, she was totally high on something(mind you, it was like 6:30pm on a Sunday). She seriously said(and I am quoting to the best of my knowledge), «I love my job, it is the bomb, only cool people work here, cool people attract more cool people, you know?» LMAO — Seriously? 2. There were probably like 4 people at the bar, and 2 tables(not including ours.) and we got our food and had to ASK for the Chips and Salsa — after which they only brought out the chips. After we were done with our meal, and the waitress came by, we then asked for salsa and received a blank look. 3. The food was OK. We had fajitas, the rice was«eh», the chicken tasted like it was microwaved and we seriously got a drop of guacamole. Whatever, anyway, this place is cheap, and that is what you go for, you pay for it in the quality of the food and service. Great drink specials and it has that«local» bar vibe. but that’s about it. I think there is a pool table, too.

The bar is close to my place, so that’s a plus for me, but not to all. As for everything else, the food was decent and a wide variety of drinks to get. However, if you’re out looking for a good tequila place or Tex-Mex food, I’d go elsewhere.

Um, yeah. THANKYOU. I’m glad this place doesn’t have more than two stars on average, cuz that’s about what I was feeling, and I hate to give bad reviews. Also, I’m kind of drunk so, maybe that’s helping me give not such a good review, but ANYWAY, yeah… their food… sucks. My boyfriend insisted on going there for some god unknown reason, and while it was 5pm in the late afternoon/early evening, there was no reason for the waitress to be on DOPE. She literally floated by in a dazy; at one point she stood there in front of our table for 17.6 seconds before asking«Is everything all right?» Umm… yes…just…bring us the chicken tacos and fries please? Considering there’s a total of FOUR tables right now. Yeah, the fries were salty; the beans tasted like… mush; and the rice was brown and crusty and tasted brown and crusty and watery and microwaved… Um. Don’t go there. Thanks

Tuesday night… All you can eat wings and beer for $ 16.95. Why does Unilocal rate it 1.5 Stars? I’m pretty sure I could have been there with rabid dog chewing on my leg and as long as I had unlimited beer and wings I think I’d rate it higher than a 1.5. I checked here before going there and admittedly I had low expectations. Lets be clear. I went for the AYCE wings and beer. Atmosphere: Unimpressive… It’d be funner with more customers but with 4 other people in the bar during the ‘after work’ rush it left everything just a little awkward. Service: ehh. I’ve had better but not awful. Wings: Honestly… I liked them. They weren’t scrawny cheap-o wings. They were nice big plump juicy crispy wings. The sauce was plentiful and had a slightly different taste(not a bad thing… but the sauce was really red. like someone melted a crayon). Beer: tasty Bottom Line: If you have good company with you and want to pig out with some wings & beer on a budget this is your place.

This place has free nachos, always a good thing. That’s one of the only good things. The outside seating area is chill, but the service is slow. The food is average and not worth the prices. Drinks are pricey and the crowd is lame. The bartenders are pretty good people, its totally not there fault the place sucks. O.K. the grand finale comes from the tequila itself. Average selection and lackluster service, the place is called tequila jacks and i think theres more of a selection of beer.

I popped in here while waiting for my fiancée the other day. They have about 10 – 12 beers on tap and the bartender was nice, which I really appreciated, but frankly the atmosphere of the bar is tragic as I can only describe it as where frat boys go when they get out of college. The worst part was that the food was bad. I had fajitas and thought the chicken was rubbery and the tortilla tasted more like some form of cardboard. The person next to me got a buffalo burger and complained it was over done and tasteless. Then the woman who I was later informed was a partner in the business, began attempting to do a sound check for karaōke there. Beyond making everyone else in the place deaf, she also proved she has no idea how to operate a soundboard. Not sure what else to say other than I will never go back here, even if you pay me…
