Great bar with a great selection of booze and food… I’m just not sure about the musical selection on their jukebox. I was there one night and someone played Band-Aid’s «Do They Know It’s Christmas»… in May!

I have been going to Genesis for years as I live down the street. The staff is always amazing and friendly. Very good locals spot and it is a rare time to go in and find yourself in a fun conversation with someone. The food is great as well! Never been disappointed with anything I have ordered. Excited to go here everytime!

Updated look, and menu makes this friendly Irish pub a must when in Yorkville. The warm and lovely daytime bartender/manager Rachel makes lunch/brunch all that more special. Highly recommended.

The atmosphere was a beat pub like atmosphere. We got two burgers and a couple drinks each and our tab was about $ 50. The drinks were nice and cold but the burger was just meh. It didn’t really stand out and the bread tasted a bit stale. Full disclaimer I got mine cooked medium-well. Overall it was okay but nothing spectacular.

Fun fact. Had arranged with friends to meet at the corner 88 and 2nd, and then they were to show me their best neighbourhood place. As I was early I walked around the crossing to find the best and cosiest place for my wait. Found this place and when they arrived it turned out that this was the place they had planned to show me. I can only agree! This is the best of the best!

Genesis was voted one of the best burgers in NYC several years back and for a long time it was one of my favorite places. My husband and I were disappointed when we got bland, tasteless burgers a few months ago but figured it was a fluke. We returned again last week and again the burgers were a huge disappointment. Not sure what has changed but the food has gone way downhill. We’re so sad!

Just a great local place for good food and conversation. The owner and staff treat you like regulars. Great burgers and brunch. Tons of tvs to watch your favorite game. True great neighborhood place, with an authentic Irish owner who welcomes you with true Irish hospitality.

We were pretty much regulars here when we used to live just upstairs. We’ve always had a good experience here with their menu, happy hour rates and great service. My favorite thing to order is actually the Korean style chicken wings. The closest to the original Korean fried chicken outside of Korea Town. The servers are mostly Irish too, which makes the«Irish» pub/restaurant experience more authentic. This time we came for dinner, the weekend of Labor Day and it was a few weeks after moving from the neighborhood that we miss so much. It was the usual warm welcome and we picked a table outside facing the street. I ordered a burger this time and so did my husband. We had happy hour margaritas too, which not only tasted nice but were nice and strong. Everything was great up until I saw something that suspiciously looked like a long piece of stubble.(You can judge for yourselves in the photo). I was going to tell our server but that was the time when she didn’t come around our table. The bus boy however was eager to clean up our table. I then stupidly told the bus boy instead and he proceeded to take my fork and break it into pieces and say that it’s proof that it isn’t a piece of hair. That might be justifiable enough, but I still though maybe the hair got fried together with the fries and that’s why it’s texture changed. Whatever it is, it is still a good spot, but I’ll always question whether that was a piece of hair or not. Cheers!

Friendly Irish bar. Great place to meet friends and watch a game or two., quick bites. typical bar food just okay. We tried the combo appetizers which were over cooked. Potato skins were good. Chicken wings were dry. Skip the Irish coffee. surprisingly, it was terrible. You need to start with good coffee which it wasn’t.

If they cared as much about their food as serving alcohol… it might, might taste good. Oh and don’t bother mentioning your subpar meal. They could care less. No luck here!

Like I always say, I’ve never been disappointed at Genesis. They get my order correct. Fast service, filling food, great atmosphere. I always leave happy! Today I had the Turkey Club, sooo good! Fresh food! And my favorite Sweet Potato Fries! No Room for Desert! My daughter had the Cobb Salad! I took home the shell from her salad. I’ll fill it up for lunch tomorrow. The shell is the best part to me! Don’t come and eat up everything! Leave some for me! I’ll be back!

This was one of the first pubs I went to when I moved to the Upper East Side nearly five years ago, and it NEVER disappoints. Anyone who I bring to Genesis absolutely loves it. The staff of Genesis are some of the nicest people you will meet, and truly treat you like family. Not only that, but the service is quick and efficient. I personally like to go for the traditional Irish fare(fish n’ chips, shepherd’s pie, etc) and it never disappoints. A lot of my friends opt for their burger selection, which is equally amazing. They also have really great drink specials. The ambiance is also great — you can watch TV in the bar area, sit outside, sit in the garden, or just ask for a quiet booth in the back. Definitely an amazing UES spot!

Great Irish pub/restaurant. We enjoyed a nice filet with spinach and a delicious vegi pasta. If you are expecting traditionally cold beer forget it. Beer here is Irish typical 60 – 65 degrees. Excellent service.

Great service for drinks, enough tvs to be able to watch sports. I ordered the filet mignon and I tasted great I just need to remember medium rare in the north is medium everywhere else. Other friends got burgers and sandwiches that looked great.

Was looking for a good place to grab dinner with my best friend who was visiting and we were so pleased with this place!!! The service was excellent !!! Every waitress was friendly and accommodating. The owner was a warm and welcoming Irish man who came up to the table to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The drink selections were great. We got frozen strawberry daiquiris/margaritas. The setting is spacious and dimly lit. You can grab a booth or sit on the wrap around bar and catch a sports game. Our meal was ready fast. We got the steak sandwich smothered in mushrooms, cheese & toppings along with a chicken burger with pico de gallo on top I believe. Both were excellent. Overall it was a great spot!!!

Decent beer selection? Yep. Clean bar? Yep. Food? Yep. Not a million miles from public transport? Yep. This is definitely one of my favorite spots to have a nightcap /be the bar i go to between bars A and C. Pretty standard pub otherwise. TVs always have some sport on, so that adds to it.

My friends and I made reservations to go to Genesis for Thanksgiving this year; it was sort of a gamble, as we’d just stumbled across the place on Google, and it was the day of when we decided to go. But boy, are we glad we did. They’re currently decorated for Christmas and the bar looks like an absolute treasure. So warm and inviting! The manager was the first to greet us and he was very pleasant. We all had the turkey dinner and were very pleased with it, especially considering the steal price for the prix fixe. The waitress was likewise very kind and took several pictures for our table to commemorate the moment. Though the place began to fill up, it was never too loud and we could always hear each other. The coffee, by the way, was killer. I would recommend this bar to anyone in Manhattan; a good old Irish pub run by Irish people with a good traditional sense of Irish hospitality.
