Best cupcakes and cheesecake. Great way to end an evening w/sweets and the perfect wine accompaniment. Nice neighborhood little gem.

I’m a dessert person at all times, with all meals, on all days. So naturally I love the concept of desserts paired with alcoholic drinks as a place to stop in after dinner. The space is small but cute, the selections are vast, but the taste of the desserts are all very regular. The peanut butter cupcake was dry and suuuuuuuper sweet. The carrot cake one was better but just felt like a sugar attack on my body. All I could taste was sweet and not the flavor. The wine was good but very pricey for a simple glass of mediocre wine. Overall it’s a great place for a date or to sit with friends but just needs to step up their dessert game. Maybe I’m asking for too much as the name is sweet revenge, but for such a great location and concept I think they can really make it spectacular with a few changes to the menu.

Finally came here to try the cupcake. The place is small but cozy. I had the Crimson and cream w the wine pairing. The cupcake was moist and fluffy. The cream was the perfect amount with the cupcake. I found the belleni to be a good pairing with the cupcake. My friend got the sweet revenge. It had a strong peanut butter taste. If you’re not a fan of peanut butter than it’s not the cupcake for you.

This place is so cute! Why hasn’t anyone thought of a wine + dessert café before? It’s a small café that offers a selection of cupcakes, cheesecakes, and cookies, paired with wine. I got a Sweet Revenge cupcake with a glass of Malbec, the first suggested pairing listed on the menu. The cupcake was a peanut butter cake, ganache filling with peanut butter fudge frosting. It was really good and paired perfectly with the Malbec! It would’ve been a little too sweet on its own but the acidity of the wine balanced out the sugary cupcake. The service was excellent. Our waitress was super friendly and answered all our questions about the menu. We were lucky we beat the rush though. We came on a Friday night around 8pm but by 9pm, the place was packed and the staff had to turn away some parties. Get there early if you’re planning to have a late night dessert after dinner. 5 stars for delicious dessert, great service, a cute atmosphere, and of course — WINE! They have a brunch menu too, which I’ll definitely come back to try.

Ok… So, I anticipated coming to Sweet Revenge for the first time ever and getting Belgian Waffles. I arrived at this cute shop and then the unthinkable happened… I was told by the owner’s husband(who works there) that I cannot order waffles because the waffle machine is broken!!! WHAT!!! I was really looking forward to eating the Belgian Waffles! So I had to rethink my game plan. I finally decided to order the El Grande Quesadilla which comes with salad(I had fruit salad) on the side. I also has a glass of Chardonnay. The White Sangria was also great and I will return another day for more Sangria! The food was good but what I enjoyed even more was the lovely staff. I informed the owner’s husband that the employees are wonderful. Emma and Shawn are fantastic staff who exude professionalism, drive, are friendly and they provided excellent customer service! They deserve a raise and I told the husband’s owner that information as I exited this eatery. Overall, Sweet Revenge received 4 out of 5 stars because of the waffle situation and that the owner’s husband originally did not want to honor the 20% off weekday lunch special that«Sweet Revenge» has posted on their Unilocal Page. He finally gave it to me, but he should have never said no since Unilocal and the customer is alway’s right. Anyway, I will return for more White Sangria and Chocolate Chip Cookies!

I adore Sweet Revenge! It’s such a cute dessert place. The Crimson and cream cupcake is my absolute favorite. I love the fact that they have wine/champagne pairing with cupcakes. The menu is pretty extensive so that really helps a lot. Seats may be an issue as this place is on the smaller side but it’s worth the wait. The employees are really helpful and will give good recommendations. I haven’t tried anything other than their cupcakes but I’ll definitely come back for more.

Location: Sweet revenge is on and off my bookmark list for multiple times. I am very regret that I didn’t come here earlier. This is the best spot for sweet and wine indulgence. I went there on a early morning. Of course I can grab a seat easily but I doubt that could happen if I am here for a Saturday brunch or late night date with my homie. And the tables are tiny I guess they are trying to get as many people as possible. There’s a wine bar and coffee place and a small kitchen for cupcake Food: it’s 8am and I am only looking for dessert. But when I asked when they serve wine, they were like anytime. So yeah, my breakfast ended with a cup of wine and their sweet revenge cupcake! I cannot describe how good it is. The owner gives me some options on choosing proper wine for the dessert and the sweet revenge cupcake, which is composed of peanut butter, is unbearably delicious. Service: the most friendly place I visited at west village. God, I don’t wanna share my secrets spots with Unilocalers but this place is truly good that I want to see them thrive in a long term Price: west village is no cheap Overall: like I said, wine+sweet = the king. I will come here regularly and I highly recommend you do the same. Maybe I can run to each other and visit a nearby place for some fun.

I’ve passed this place a few times as I head to work, so decided to pop in on lunch to get something sweet. I ordered the iced chai tea and chocolate chip cookie. The iced chai tea was extremely milky. I’m not sure what kind of mix they use, but they need to modify it. The chocolate chip cookie was… well, missing chocolate chips? I’m not sure what kind of cookie she gave me, but it tasted like a cookie minus the chocolate. I looked on their website to see if I could figure it out, but I couldn’t. The woman who took my order at the counter was very nice. I think she was new because she was asking her coworker a lot of questions, but I appreciate she was trying to figure out how to do the job instead of winging it. But again, I got the wrong/not so good order. I might try this again, I’m not sure. It’s definitely a cute place!

After a night out with friends for drinks/eats, we decide we want to find a dedicated dessert café that offered some adult beverages as well. We have a great one of these back home in Raleigh(shout out to Bittersweet) and luckily we found a similar place on Unilocal up in West Village NYC with Sweet Revenge. Sweet Revenge offers a wonderful array of desserts such as cakes, cupcakes, pies, cheesecakes, cookies, etc. with beer/cider/wine to pair up with your sweet creation. The place itself is a very charming café with white tile accents, small but quaint. Taking a seat at the bar area, we perused the selections excitedly and I chose the Crimson & Cream cupcake(Raspberry Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, Topped with Raspberry Coulis & Cinnamon) and the Crumble Cheesecake with a Kopparberg Pear Cider from Sweden to wash it all down. All these items were amazingly wonderful choices, turns out(check out the pic of the half eaten evidence). The red velvet cupcake rocked it, being very flavorful with very dense and moist cake. The cheesecake was by far some of the best cheesecake I’ve enjoyed in a long time, absolutely. To say I was satisfied with my experience at Sweet Revenge would definitely be an understatement. Bottom line: Sweet Revenge is definitely a stop to get amazing desserts with beer/wine/cider. Charming café with diverse dessert and beverage menu, these guys bring it and then some. I was very satisfied with my experience here and hope to see these guys again soon!

This place had been on my list for a while so I’m glad I finally got to try it. I came here on a Friday night and got a cupcake to go. They all looked amazing but, being a peanut butter lover, I went with their namesake, Sweet Revenge. They pack it in a cute little cup so no worries about it falling over or getting messed up. I didn’t eat it til the next day but even after 24 hours of being in the fridge, it was still perfect. Flavor and texture were both on point and left me wanting more. I’d love to come back here to try the brunch and more cupcakes, of course! The only issue is it’s a very small space but I think the wait for a table would be worth it :)

Cute and cozy little restaurant with a nice lunch special where you get a CUPCAKE and potato chips with a signature sandwich for $ 9.95. For the signature sandwich, you choose the bread, protein, cheese, and drizzle. I was going vegetarian that day and ordered a toasted house made roll, with roasted seasonable veggies, swiss, and sun-dried tomato pesto. The combination was delicious. I chose the Crimson & Cream, raspberry red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. I tasted real bits of raspberry which was a nice surprise and the cake and cream cheese frosting were on point. Check-in gets you a discount. I ordered take out, but definitely coming back to sit-down and enjoy my meal on the premises.

Tried two cupcakes, sweet revenge and crimson. Crimson was kind of average. Decent sponge portion and creamy sweet frosting with generous portions of raspberry jam. Sweet revenge was definitely better of the two. Unique peanut buttery sponge portion. More filling than sponge, a win imo. Espresso was average. Peanut butter and oatmeal cookies were great. Not too soft and not too hard. Flavor was first and foremost, cookie. Sweetness in a circle, the different flavors acted more like an accent, a hint of oatmeal or peanut butter as you chew.

I had extremely high expectations for this place, especially with all of the great reviews. But after coming here and trying it out, I sadly have to agree with the negative reviewers. There are a few reasons. 1. The staff displayed zero customer service. My friend and I took a seat and looked at the menu. Like the other reviewer said, the server didn’t budge from the counter. She actually looked like she was on her phone or something. So we had to wave to get her attention. When she got the orders, she seemed to have some kind of unfriendly vibe, it made us feel some unease. No smile, no greeting. Just took our orders and went back to where she was before. She never came back to our table to refill our water or ask us how we were doing. Even after eating, we had to wave to get her attention for the check. I just found that very annoying; I thought she could’ve been a bit more attentive. 2. There was a happy hour special. I forgot what it was, but I remember it included a cupcake and wine. Instead, I went with a Turtle cheesecake and a Sweet Revenge cupcake. I don’t know why, but I was surprised by how they tasted, in a bad way. I didn’t enjoy them at all, and my friend agreed with me as well. He usually eats a lot, but even he didn’t want to finish the cheesecake. We were underwhelmed. I doubt I’ll be returning just because of the experience we had.

Cool spot to check out! Came here at around 4 on a weekday, and there were plenty of tables. They have $ 10 happy hour special, which includes a cupcake and select wines. I ordered the Sweet Revenge cupcake(peanut butter cake, ganache center, peanut butter fudge frosting, crumbled peanuts and cocoa dusting) paired with their house wine. As a huge peanut butter fan, I loved it!

This is a fun place that you should definitely check out. Pairing cupcakes/cheesecake with wine and beer… what a simple and amazing idea! Plus, the suggested pairings are perfect. Definitely a great date spot, especially for a first date. My only complaint is that the cake in the cupcakes is incredibly heavy, so be prepared. However, if you can’t finish it then, you can always take the leftovers home with you. I’m looking forward to going back for the classic cheesecake next time!

This place & concept is so charming, but sadly my hopes may have been too high. A friend & I came just in time to take advantage of the happy hour special… or so we thought. It really is a precious yet elegant ambiance, especially late at night. Like, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Charlotte from Sex and the City sitting in the corner. But the dining experience itself was awkward. We went in. Went to the counter. The server told us to take a seat. We made our decision. We waited. So I thought, «Hmm, maybe it’s actually counter service?» So I went to the counter to order, & she brought our drink/order to the counter. But then, the people next to us were served in traditional waitress-to-table fashion? So strange. My friend & I decided to split the Sweet Revenge cupcake & I added on a glass of Malbec as suggested by the pairing menu. The Sweet Revenge icing? Nailed it; so freaking peanut buttery & wonderful. The cake itself? Stale. I’m not much of a dry wine girl, so I really should’ve gotten something sweeter to complement. Nevertheless, the Malbec & cupcake did taste good together; kind of like a PB&J for grown-ups. After chatting & enjoying ourselves, we figured we should pay. We sat down & ordered at 7:45. We didn’t ask for the check until 8:15. So — bingo — we were charged full price instead of the happy hour $ 10 special. Kinda leaves a sour taste in your mouth, even after all of that sugar.

The Quick: Pretty good cupcakes, with outstanding drink pairing and atmosphere. Very small and fills up quickly. Our waitress was fantastic. The Details: No one goes to Sweet Revenge to just get a cupcake. On a pure cupcake basis, there are better options in the neighborhood. That being said, the drinks are fantastic and really amplify the cupcake flavors. Together it’s a homerun. It was fairly pricey, so I recommend going for happy hour if you can. I loved my wine and peanut butter cupcake and would likely order the same thing next time. Plus, they are my neighbors — love to eat local. The Damage: Three cupcakes and three drinks came to ~$ 55. Happy hour is $ 10 cupcake and some pairing… Go!

Stopped by for an afternoon snack and drink at happy hour with friends. The concept of this place is amazing! I had the sweet revenge cupcake and a glass of sangria. The cupcake was so good, I could have eaten another! My friend loved his cupcake too. I was checking out their breakfast and lunch menu too, which sounds delicious, I think I’m going to drop by earlier next time to try it. The place is kind of cosy, so I expect it fills up quickly. The staff were really friendly and were able to make recommendations and came out to us when we were looking at the menu outside to let us know that it was happy hour!(Something that not every place does). I will definitely be back!

Very Belgian in feel, especially with the large open windows and doors thrown open to the street, one could be sitting in Ghent on a lazy summers afternoon… Vibe worked for me, cool music, interesting menu(cakes & wine is a new one on me). Pleased to have found this little spot, imagine it’s beautiful on a summers morning. The old time oatmeal I had was good if a touch not sweet enough(my choice perhaps) and my wife’s bacon and avocado wrap was reported as being excellent in particular the honey Dijon mayonnaise(another nod to Belgium)
