I’m not sure why people are raving over this and really the first time I’ve been let down by the aggregate reviews on Unilocal. We just ordered in since we have all day workshops and couldn’t leave the building. This was so meh and honestly, tasteless. The consensus and feeling after eating this lunch was that we were«full», but everything was so tasteless that I’m completely feeling unsatisfied. We had spicy tuna(where there was no spice), eel/avocado roll — that was ok, gyoza — you can’t really F that up, but smallest dumplings ever, and really«interesting» looking seaweed salad. The edamame was good. Anyway, definitely won’t be ordering that in again. It was a bummer!

I’m too upset to even elaborate very much but these people basically give you the bare amount of what can be considered these dishes. Don’t order from here. Ruined my day and now everything’s closed and I can’t even order something else.

Fresh sushi, nice atmosphere, great service. Just a bite pricey, love it. Great for a night out.

Fine dining or dining fine? SuTeiShi definitely gave me a better answer. Well decorated, this small cute sushi bar located right in the center of Fulton market so that you could enjoy a bite after wandering around. My friend and I came in around 1 on Saturday afternoon and it was completely empty. We shared the Samurai roll and the matcha soba with salmon. Their fish was freshly prepared in front of you and served quickly. The matcha soba, on the other hand, was a bit creamy and made a perfect combo with the grilled salmon on top. Fairly priced as well. Must stop by for someone new to this area!

Best sushi and most agreeable dining experience in FiDi. We wandered in the Suteishi on a Saturday noon. It was almost empty so we had a really nice, chill, and private lunch. The samurai roll(spicy blue crab, avocado, and crunchy red snapper) is a must-try. Very fresh ingredients and layers of flavors! The rice and red snapper were shiny under the natural light. Spicy sauce and scallions definitely made this dish more interesting than the blue crab roll you can have at anywhere else. A great deal given the quality, ambiance and service. Will come back.

Had dinner here last night, one of the better Sushi places in the area. I wish they had a few more cooked options for the hubby. My friend and I had all sushi and it was really good! I have the Peck’s Peak roll and a regular spicy tuna roll. Our waiter was also super nice and helpful ordering. I wish the mayo however tasted a little less like mayo. I’d come back since in the area it’s one of the better options. Wish their pricing was a tad lower but overall not too bad.

The bf and I were staying in the Wall Street area where most of the local sushi joints had mediocre ratings. Suteishi did not disappoint. It’s a smaller restaurant with red, black, and white modern décor. You’re sitting in close proximity to people. So it tends to get loud in here. The service is very attentive and friendly. Your water glass stays full. We started off with the spicy King crab homemade miso which was hands down best miso I have ever had. It was so good I had another! lol The sashimi plate was a good mix of tuna, snapper, salmon and can’t remember what else– nothing but fresh, buttery textures though. I decided to try some fusion sushi. I had the ika topped with a touch of uni and tuna embellished with kimchi sauce. Both were interesting and good. They didn’t go overboard with the pairing which made it a perfect balance. My bf indulged in his favorite– saba– also very satisfying. We enjoyed ourselves in this upbeat atmosphere and went through 3 of those little bottles of sake– can’t remember which one now. They have a decent selection though. Yes, the prices are steep here, but you get what you pay for. I’d much rather indulge the right way for more. Next time, I’m in the Wall Street area craving sushi, I would definitely return!

Good for lunch. Sushi is good. I wasn’t sure from the photos but I was happy the rice wasn’t mushy. Not authentic but again decent for lunch or the price. Service was very good. It wasn’t busy. Glad to see them still attentive and not idling around.

Excellent. Fresh, quality sushi, really good service(rare to find in nyc), nice energetic vibe(good music, not too loud), good place to hide from B&T & tourists on wknds. I’ve lived in manhattan for years-when you come here, you feel like you’re transported to a new England waterfront. The sushi & sashimi combo is EXCELLENT. I couldn’t believe the quality. King crab soup could use more crab, but very tasty & a bit spicy which made it delicious!

Really enjoyed my lunch here today! Favorite dishes: Stuffed mushrooms, tempura Atmosphere: Trendy sophisticated, especially compared to all the bars in the neighborhood Service: Good, nothing to complain about Food: — Pork gyoza: Crispy and well seasoned meat. — Stuffed mushrooms: My favorite! 4 black mushrooms came topped with a heap of high quality tasting crab. The crab was tossed and topped with spicy mayo and tobiko. Definitely my favorite part of the meal. — Grilled black cod: Really moist and tender, and sitting on a bed of steamed broccoli(not a huge fan of broccoli, but this is probably the best one I’ve had. Tasted almost buttery). — Steamed vegetables: Definitely the most disappointing dish of the meal. A pretty straightforward medley of vegetables dressed in a soy sauce based mix. — Shrimp tempura udon: The udon and the broth has a very light, clean taste. Not too salty like a lot of other udons I’ve had. Comes with an abundance of vegetable toppings, and a few fish cake slices. The tempura is serve on the side with a lemony ponzu sauce. One of the best tempuras I’ve had! The coating was super light and fluffy, and the shrimp itself was moist and well flavored.

Loved the sushi and the presentation. Staff were friendly and helpful. Slightly pricey for the food. Parking available off the street. No complaints and no brownie points.

By far best restaurant in financial district. Sit at the sushi bar if you know what you’re doing, you will not be let down.

This is definitely our go-to sushi spot and is well deserving of 4 stars. The food is great and the service is great too. In the summer there’s outdoor seating which is always nice and the inside ambiance is great, very trendy. The prices are a bit higher than the other places around the area, but the food is definitely better & worth the cost. I would say our bill is usually around $ 70 for a few rolls and appetizers. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for sushi in the area!

This is the best sushi place in FiDi, but comes at a higher price than places like Haru, Ise or Taste of Tokyo, which are just ok, in my opinion. You can’t compare Suteishi to places like Gari, Yasuda, Blue Ribbon, BondSt, etc., but for good quality, slightly-better-than-middle-range sushi, then this is perfect. And if you’re in FiDi, then this place is your best option. Pro Tip: make sure you Check-In on Unilocal as you’ll get a Free Lychee Saketini which was really good. We ordered: Lychee Saketini– this drink was Excellent, so good, that I switched from my wine after trying it. They also make it in Peach flavor, but don’t see how it could be better than the Lychee one, so order that one. Sauvignon Blanc– white wine from New Zealand, was pretty good. Edamame– pretty standard at most sushi places, so nothing special here, but they did provide a house blend soy sauce for dipping that was nice. Salmon Avocado Roll– also pretty standard, but the quality of the salmon was really good. Red Dragon Roll– Big Eye Tuna, Blue Fin Tuna, spicy mayo and crunch on top. Very tasty roll and highly recommend. The big eye tuna had a nice amount of fat which was buttery in your mouth. Really liked it. Angelfish Roll– Spicy White Tuna, sweet mango, White Tuna on top. This roll had a nice combination of saltiness from the tuna and sweetness from the mango. If you order it, make sure you eat it at the end of your meal, as it’s almost dessert-like. And the white tuna is so delicate and nice. Yellowfin Toro Sushi– as with most Toro, had a nice marble of fat and melted in your mouth when you ate it. I still prefer traditional Tuna Toro, but this was a nice change. Salmon Toro Sushi– similar to what I said above, had nice fat and was really good, but still like Tuna Toro better. And I kind of like the straight salmon(sake) sushi better. But the quality of the Salmon Toro was excellent, I admit that. Uni from Japan(not Santa Barbara) — I was surprised and somewhat shocked when the waitress said they had Uni from Japan, given that it’s hard to find in the city, and especially as this restaurant seems pretty basic. We were tempted to get it, but it was $ 20 for one shell and we were already full from all the sushi we ate. Also, I’ve been told that if you order Uni somewhere, it should be at a very high quality sushi restaurant, otherwise, it could be really bad. So, we didn’t feel like rolling the dice, so we passed. Maybe next time. But overall, the sushi was very very good and if you’re gonna have sushi in FiDi, this is the place to have it. But, it’s on the pricier side, and the cost was $ 125 for two people including two drinks each. For that price bracket, I’d almost recommend spending an extra $ 50-$ 75 and go to Blue Ribbon. But, that would mean taking a taxi/über there, so given that, you can’t beat the convenience and no wait at Suteishi. Not to mention the ambiance is pretty modern and much nicer than most spots in FiDi. So, just come here if you’re set on having sushi in FiDi, you won’t be disappointed.

This is my GOTO sushi spot downtown. First off there is nothing you can go wrong with on the menu, the sushi is always extremely fresh, and most important of all the service is top notch. I can’t say anything bad about this place as I am here once a week. Nice work Suteishi! Also, venue is nice and is a great date spot. Cheers!

I have live near water, and i think this the best sushi i have very ingested. I have the house party which was scallop wrapped in bacon sushi roll with caviar on top and i enjoyed it. I also had miso soup with crab. delish. I had the 5 fried oyster as a tapa and i wasn’t a fan but the fried shrimp tapa is out of this world…

I came here for lunch with some colleagues on a Friday afternoon. I love its location in the seaport district. The open windows capture a lot of light and definitely gives off a very trendy vibe that’s different from other Japanese restaurants. The restaurant itself is also quite spacious, so it’s great for group meals. I ordered an uni sushi, kimono roll, and pacific pearl roll. Uni — LOVED this. It was very strong in flavor, so it’s great for uni lovers but perhaps may be shocking to those trying uni for the first time. Kimono roll — made of salmon, avocado, white truffle oil and kelp paper. The salmon was delicious, but I couldn’t really taste the truffle oil. I think was too distracted by the avocado, which was not nearly ripe enough. I honestly felt like I was biting into a piece of potato. Pacific pearl roll — DELICIOUS. I would highly recommend this. The eel was slightly crispy, yet still melted in my mouth. Be warned, the service is a bit slow. It’s definitely more suitable for a relaxing lunch as opposed to a fast one.

The sushi here is delicious. I’ve been here twice but today I ordered the Pacific Jewel and the Orange Dragon along with some edamame. The Pacific Jewel was mesmerizing: the eel melted in my mouth and was perfectly complemented by the sweet miso sauce drizzled on. The Orange Dragon was equally as good: the dab of spicy mayo gave it just a tiny kick and also brought out the freshness of the salmon. I really liked the balance of rice and avocado in the sushi rolls(I feel like a lot of other places put way too much rice/avocado to the point where the fresh taste of the seafood is completely drowned out). The edamame was excellent: texture was great, it was still warm, and it came with a tiny cup of savory hot sauce. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but I am conflicted about the service. On the one hand, they were really great about accommodating a large party last minute(I called 15 minutes beforehand for 9 during lunch and they arranged everything with no problem). On the other hand, one of the waiters spilled hot soup on my friend and did not even bother to apologize(he just mopped it up and walked away as if nothing had happened). Our waitress was nice but took a long time with the checks(although, as a plus, she was very accommodating in splitting everything in the way that we wanted). If it weren’t for the lapses in services, I would recommend this place without a single doubt. Perhaps the one waiter was having a bad day, so don’t let this deter you from trying this place. I would definitely go back, especially when in FiDi!

SUteishi* stands out in the sort-of wasteland that the South Street Seaport area(currently) is. While they are making a valiant effort to revitalize the neighborhood with the addition of Smorgusburg during it’s rebuilding, it had such a bizarre and deserted vibe when I visited Suteishi this winter(my uncle even deemed ‘just a bit too Boston,’ ha). The food here was pretty good considering we waltzed in with mediocre expectations. We downed two orders of their unique dumplings, and some rolls and sushi. Special rolls and toro were on point! The service was stellar; extremely attentive waitress was frequently at our table and quiet pleasant. While I wouldn’t travel out of my way to go here, if I lived in the area or ever found myself out around South Street Seaport I can’t imagine getting sushi elsewhere considering how solid SEteishi was. *Also, the branding may look familiar to you as they seem to be the same operators of the midtown lunch spot in the 53rd St. mall, Sushi-teria, which allows you to order the same maki piece-by-piece, not marrying you to any one fish. The spicy tuna was exactly the same, super crunchy, fresh; a nice blend.

I have gotten food from Suteishi twice. The first time was takeout placed at 11:30pm and the second was last night around 10pm. Though both times it was very late, I found everything to be very fresh. The first time I ordered an avocado salad and a rice less salmon belly hand-roll. I think they charged $ 13 for the roll because it was rice less which I found kind of pricy but it was very yummy and fulfilled my drunk munchies. The salad was your average salad though the dressing is very ginger-y and delicious. However, I wished there was more dressing because it came with about a table spoon or two and there were a lot of greens. The second time I came here we got sake to start. It was one size and I can not remember how much it was but it poured about 6 of the small sake glasses. I had a salad to start which again I found there was very little dressing, though more than what I got the first time I got takeout. I also had a salmon belly hand-roll(clearly I was feeling very adventurous with my food choice) but with rice which was $ 10. After finishing the sake the munchies got the best of me and I ordered another salad and hand-roll. My boyfriend got one of the sushi combos called something with a 10 in the title. He substituted the tuna roll for a eel avocado which was an additional $ 3. He also found the fish very fresh. Our total was $ 81 which we thought was kind of pricy since it wasn’t that much food but I would definitely come back

Un service très attentionné y compris pour les enfants. Pas beaucoup de couverts et de place mais l’endroit est serein, propre et le poisson de grande qualité. Beaucoup de choix dans les rolls… Fondant et riz cuit parfaitement. Très bon.
