Wandering in on a rainy morning walk, I was psyched to find this little shop offering a real cappuccino for three bucks even. I didn’t stay for a long time, so I can’t speak to atmosphere, but the barista was nice, funny and warm. The espresso drink itself was … ok. I remember thinking it was too milky and a bit bitter for my tastes. It’s not Grumpy’s but it’s not bad. Low five.

My favorite coffee shop in the city. Pubblico is a very minimalist, clean, small nook where you can get awesome quality coffee, a cool barista, and a nice place to work for an hour or two. I love this place with all my heart. The whole menu is really solid, and every drink they’ve given me has been beautifully crafted and absolutely delicious. This place is a keeper — it’s the Grimaldi’s pizza of coffee shops.

This is my favorite coffee shop to work or to meet the interesting people of Greenwich Village. While there is limited seating, there is always an empty table to sit at. I haven’t found another coffee shop in the area that can deliver this. This is the most important thing to me about eat in coffee in NYC. I don’t need to stress about where you will sit before you order. Should I place my bag there? What if it gets stolen? What if I order my coffee and there is no where to sit and I didn’t really want the coffee, I just wanted to sit down? Unlimited Guiltless WiFi. Coffee is good. I suggest you try some of the crazier drinks on the menu. You’ll probably need to ask to find out what they are.

Authentic Italian espresso and authentic Italian barista and artist. Might not be easy to see, but it’s clean and a very good cup of espresso that takes me right back to Rome.

Great coffee place opposite Minetta tavern. I think it is run but the same people who run Zibetto in midtown. I like this one better. Lovely coffee and lovely service.

The bicerin drink is really good, albeit pricey. Other coffee drinks are average, especially compared to other places nearby.

Nice atmosphere. Great location. Really good service. Really mediocre espresso. Unless you like the taste of mediocre robusta-rich big-name coffee that you find at many cafes in Italy.

It’s a tight space, bright and cozy, with four small tables along a side wall, and a few at the bar. When I was there in the afternoon there were a couple of people reading but there was plenty of room to sit. The barista was pleasant. I had a doppio macchiato. The quality reminds me of Starbuck’s: the coffee is thin and relatively bitter, drinkable but I was expecting more from a place like this. There are several other places right around here with better espresso, such as Third Rail or La Colombe. But it’s perfectly nice to sit and read when not crowded.

I was just meandering down Macdougal the other day and made a note to myself to drop in to check this place out, since you’ll never find me long without coffee in hand. Finally made it in today and what a joy! Stepped in to the sounds of Sam Cooke and a smiling barista, and a pleasantly clean white interior with three tables. No wifi as of yet, but very soon. I thoroughly enjoyed my Americano in-house and will definitely return here. Hurrah for a wonderful find! I must return to try the Bicerin, a traditional hot drink from Turin made of drinking chocolate, espresso and whole milk — mmmm!

Perfect espresso! I had a double espresso which was absolutely delicious. The waiter also suggested that we try the«special» instead of a cappuccino, so we went for it. It was delicious… espresso layered with chocolate and crème. I highly recommend this place for authentic espresso or a tasty coffee treat!

came here on a late saturday afternoon; it was nice, quiet and a pleasant experience. never noticed pubblico before this because you need to walk up a short flight of stairs to reach this little café. probably also explains why it was that quiet. with its simple settings, quiet atmosphere AND friendly barista(who spoke english with a cute italian accent!), i’ll be sure to come back again and try something new! had a bicerin(bee-che-reen): chocolate, espresso and ‘hand shaken cream’. the barista explained it was a specialty of Turin. delizioso!

Stopped by today after scouring coffee shops to get some reading done. After dropping by the Housing Works bookstore/café, Starbucks, and a Think Coffee, I almost retreated back to my apartment to work, but then I decided to swing by here instead. While there is extreeeemely limited seating here(like four small tables), my boyfriend and I managed to snag seats. We ordered a mocha and a latte, then read for about two hours in peace. Since there’s such limited seating, it stays pretty quiet aside from the soft music playing from speakers. The barista working at the time was also very nice(and pretty!), which is a plus.

Who else needs a cup of coffee(or maybe something stronger) after dealing with the NYU Bursar or Office of Financial Aid? Although Pubblico was not around during my undergraduate heyday, it is a great addition to the neighborhood and surrounding«campus» area. It is a small coffee bar, with three small tables and a long marble countertop. It has an Italian coffee bar feel, except that the barista is Italian only by way of the Brooklyn hipster varietal. As for the espresso? It was surprisingly robust and smooth. The espresso was a tiny bit on the thin side, but I was impressed by the overall flavor. Pubblico would be a great spot to people-watch, except that the shop is located a bit above street level.

I’m not sure why people are putting 3 stars! This place is fantastic. Really cute space, great service, delicious coffee. It’s the closest thing to a proper Italian cappuccino I’ve had since being in Rome…

This was a pretty neat little experience. Quiet, quaint, and loved the design in general. Very basic color palate, yet it made it seem classy and refined. The prices seemed average and there is minimal seating. The menu was short yet universal.

I love this little place!!! First of all… coffee should never be bitter, it should have a strong coffee flavor, unlike some more popoular places. Burnt coffee just isnt nice… I had a perfect cappucino, with my favorite part of all… a true italian cornetto! I lived in Rome for 5 yrs and have become accustomed to breakfast without my cornetto… but no more!!! Its a simple little neighborhood place that should be a popular place to go if you want your coffee AUTHENTIC!

I’m torn between a 3 and 4. Here’s how it is: A very minimalist coffee bar with four two-person tables(bench plus stool-like seat). Long counter. Short but comprehensive menu. Slightly-less-than-Starbucks-prices. I’d have to say, while the steamed milk on my latte is some of the best I’ve had in a while, I wanted more bitterness to my espresso($ 3.50 for one-size latte). Nice soul music playing in the background. Awesome one-bite-size almond cookie. Good but not terribly moved…

While taking a break from work today to get a cup of coffee at my usual haunt, I happened to pass Pubblico, a brand new little café on MacDougal. I decided to stray from my routine and try it out – and I’m really glad that I did! I ordered a latte and fresh pastry and loved both. To top it off, the service was stellar and they give you a little cookie to go with your coffee drink(excellent as well!). I think that this will become a new routine for me now.
