Pretty hard to order a falafel here, since the building’s been torn down, and there’s a pile of rubble in its place. Pita Grill’s web-site lists three locations in Manhattan, none of which are on 8th Ave. Might be time to update the listing.

I like the food here, especially the rice bowls and the California hummus. It’s one of my go-to takeout places. My only complaint would be there isn’t much in the way of ambiance when you eat in.

In early October we ordered lamb gyros and it was literally the worst meal we have ever eaten – or rather tried to. We threw it out. Never again. just ordered something else from Village Taverna.

I ordered the $ 3 falafel wrap. Pretty decent size, filling. Something about the combination is off though. Every bite had a bitter aftertaste. I am not a fan of bitterness(emotionally or physically). The falafel was drenched in tahini so it was all soggy. Parts of them are crunchy but not the good kind but the hard to swallow kind. Got a mild case of sore throat after consumption.

Way over priced. They lure you in with a $ 3 falafel sandwich, and fries for a dollar more, then you see that that is over half the price of the next sandwich. I had the combo, sandwich and fries, for $ 4, good deal… cant afford anything else. But I have to say, Rafiki’s cart, accross the way, also charges $ 3 for their falafel and tastes even better.

Ordered a greek salad, very delicious and lots of chicken. It’s bit pricey for what it is though! They add $ 4.50 if you want to add a meat. Other than that, I enjoyed it, but I jsut can’t afford it.

Everyone says this place is overpriced. Cop the $ 3 falafel then! Pretty good considering how dirt cheap it is. I always stop here on my way to the gym. Fills me up and gives me energy!

Good service and fast but… It’s pretty overpriced for such a casual restaurant. I can get pitas/falafels in the East Village for half the price, and they taste a whole lot better. I ordered the Hawaiian chicken pita. It came out hot and the first bite was really good but as i continued eating, it really was just bland and boring. There were no spices on it. It was just chicken, pineapple and peppers. It also just completely fell out of the pita on the first bite so I mostly ate it with a fork. My friend got the eggplant and goat cheese panini and that’s literally what it was: eggplant and goat cheese on a very plain piece of bread. Just bland. Not sure if it even qualified as a panini since it didn’t seem to be oiled and grilled properly. Anyway, we left unsatisfied and will not return.

I love the falafel pita — the perfect amount for lunch and just the right amount of flavor and spice. Its half off on Fridays — I used to get one every Friday when I lived in NY and now I miss it so. You really can’t go wrong with lunch for less than $ 3 and its an easy place to eat by yourself if your on your lunch break or when just need a snack. The tahini is awesome.

I stopped by here for lunch once as I just started my internship at a school nearby. All I can say is… not really a fan… I ordered their lamb gyro with tahini sauce and one of their small agave smoothies. Now, I love gyros, I love fresh fruit smoothies, and I get on my health kicks from time to time. Those two cost me $ 17, so I expected it to taste amazing for that price. The lamb was dry and even though the vegetables were crisp and the pita was chewy, it just tasted bland and dry overall. It didn’t do it for me and I couldn’t eat more than two bites. I don’t know if it was because I didn’t put enough sauce on it(I normally don’t like my food with a lot of sauce to begin with), or I ordered the wrong sauce, or what it was. The smoothie was not bad but I’ve had better, for cheaper. There are so many other places nearby to eat which are much better, so I don’t think I’ll be coming back here again.

So good &SO fresh! I’m only rating based on the amazing fish taco I had. I enjoyed every bite out of my first fish taco(ever). It was $ 4.25 per taco and I do recommend that you get at least 2 because they run on the smaller-portioned end. They do offer a 20% &10% off discount if you order online through their online system. My girlfriend highly recommends the ginger tea that is very refreshing for a hot summer day.

What a shame! This use to be a great place to order from. I should know I use to order the East meet west chicken and rice bowl twice a week. The last three time I ordered the serving was half the size of usual. I called to make a complaint and they said they would offer me something free on my next order. the next time I ordered they had no recall of our past conversation. They also were not willing to help me. Tonight I figured I would give them a third shot. What a mess my meal was. It was poorly cooked and the smallest serving yet. more of a appetizer than a entrée. I called to complain and they offered me 20% discount on my order. I Still feel cheated! This use to be great place. If the owner wants to prevent more locations from closing he should take a long look at quality control! Possibly a staff or management problem with this location. They have lost my business!

I ordered a salad at 9:24 pm. It is now 10:12 pm and I still have not got it. I am not reviewing the food, but this is kind of ridiculous, don’t you think? I order from Otto Enoteca every once in a while. They are notoriously slow and busy, and yet I don’t recall having to wait this long. Even for a pizza.

Average pita, falafel, hummus, etc. They seem to be open slightly later than some other places, so that’s a plus. I’ve never seen their dining room busy. This is usually a bad sign, but then I realize pita joints usually don’t have much of an eating area anyway. Their delivery is ok(you can order online), but I had a screw-up once where I got an entirely wrong order. I called the restaurant and they had the right order sent right away. Decent, but definitely not my favorite.

I ordered using . Over 1 hour after I placed my order I got 7 calls to my work line(I was in a meeting) that they wrote my address down wrong so they couldn’t deliver. I called them back and gave them my new address. 2 hours after i placed my order my food arrived… except it wasn’t what I ordered. Not only that, I was supposed to get a 20% discount for being a first time customer and the discount was not applied. I ended up paying more for food that I didn’t even order. I called them and they did offer to send a replacement but by this time I was way too hungry. They offered me a 50% discount off my next order(the girl was very helpful and apologetic) but I don’t think I’ll really be taking them up on that one… You can find cheaper better pita in this city… Next time I’m going to be lazy and order in I may think again…

I used to order from here at least once a week and I was always happy with the service and the food. The Tandori chicken platter is just amazing. Really good for a nice summer lunch.

I’ve been here twice for lunch. Once I had the Fajita pita dish and once I had a steak and rice dish. Both were delicious. The place was a little expensive for lunch, but the meal was large enough to be dinner, so I’m not complaining. If you’re looking for a change of pace, give this place a try.

I walked by here yesterday at 5PM on a whim. I expected counter service but was told it’s only waiter service or takeout. The falafel sandwich was actually one of the best I’ve had in the city. The falafel balls were crispy on the outside and green and tasty on the inside, not at all gross or greasy. I also have this habit of picking out the falafel balls and leaving behind the stale lettuce and tomatoes, but this lettuce was actually a FRESH mesculin mix and the tomato was also freshly cut! I gobbled the whole entire sandwich down, which is definitely something I don’t normally do with falafels. I won’t be ordering their stuffed grape leaves again though. The rice inside was dry and it was mostly grape leaf.

i was in the area with a friend so we decided to stop here. The interior is really clean and the staff is really friendly. We got a bunch of small appetizers and 1 falafel. The appetizers we got were the feta cheese dip, the veggie stuffed grape leaves, the spinach pie, the vegetable glass noodle wraps. and i think that was it. To be honest, the food wasn’t really that great. The falafel was rather dry and the spinach pie was not very flavorful. The noodle wraps were too tasteless so we only tried a little. I wasn’t a big fan of the grape leaves — but that was my first time trying them so maybe i’m just not a fan in general. In the end, the only thing we really liked was the feta cheese dip. which we ended up putting on top of everything else because it made everything taste better haha… the waitress was nice and kept bringing us extra pita to dip into our feta cheese dip. although she did charge us for it. our bill came up to 24 bucks which is pretty cheap. but the food wasn’t really that good anyways so i probably wouldn’t go again

This restaurant just opened up in the border zone between Chelsea and the West Village. There are eight other locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Hoboken, so it seems to be a growing concern. I swung by for lunch around 1:15 today, and there was a fair-sized group of people in the eatery, including a couple of two and three tops, as well as a large party of about eight. Even though it wasn’t too busy, service was somewhat lacking — I had to get my own silverware. But the menu is appealing. Given the restaurant’s name, you can probably guess what they serve: hummus, babaganoush, tabouleh, and the like — stuff you’d eat with pita. I ordered the vegetarian platter, which comes with the above three items, as well as grape leaves and falafel. Two pita rounds came on the side in a basket. The hummus and babaganoush were excellent, the tabouleh fresh, and the pita warm. Can’t go too wrong with these standards. They also serve rice bowls, panini, and burgers. Not a pure Middle Eastern restaurant, but better than your average chain.
