This tastes like what home-made Mexican would taste like — hot, flavorful, and served by someone who actually takes the time to do it right. Apparently they opened 6 months ago — today was the first time I’ve been. She sort of barked«tacos! burritos!» at me as I walked past, and in my desperate, borderline hangry state hunting in 30 degree weather, I actually turned and looked. The(assumed) owner took one look at me, and said«The spicy chicken is really good», and hook, line, sinker. When it turned out they were cash only, she went on to hand me a card, and said«Come back tomorrow. Don’t worry about it. It’s cold out.» That kind of blind faith is a rarity in NYC(for good reason), but I most definitely will be coming back, even service aside. My spicy chicken plate came out HOT, included rice, some lettuce on top, a healthy helping of meat, and a scoop of beans. The rice is soft, fresh(doesn’t taste cold or crunchy like at fast joints), the chicken is super tender and packs some serious flavor and heat without feeling overcooked. Either I bought it just as all these dishes peaked, or they somehow figured out a way to preserve that piping fresh off the stove feel into a little metal cart. There’s a surplus of food trucks in this area, but with the service and food, I’d come back in a heartbeat.

Soft tacos are exactly what I expected, good stuff, fresh toppings. Steak was dry but the spicy pork was bang on, sausage was good too. Why no beef tongue? Drop the steak and bring on the lengua!

Addicting Tacos I discovered this food cart after I had a craving for hard shell tacos that Chipotle couldn’t fill after Diego’s Bar & Grill closed down. I haven’t explored much of the menu outside of the tacos, but if the other dishes are as addicting as the tacos I am in trouble. The portions are reasonable in regards to the prices and don’t change in regards to ingredients(chicken/steak/pork/etc.). You can choose from 8 different meats and 5 sauces. Sadly even the spiciest sauce is a bit tame for my tastes. Surprisingly the Spicy Pork and Chorizo have been my favorite meats to date, but that may change as I explore the menu further. I wonder if the food is truly organic, but I wouldn’t know the difference the majority of the time. Either way the flavor is excellent! For the time being the name is «Organic Mexican Food,» but I’m sure sooner or later they will get an official name(unless that’s it). Overall: 4.25 Stars The prices are solid and the portions aren’t too light/heavy. Unless you have a large appetite you should be satisfied until your next meal. If you are regular enough they will remember your face and aversion to certain ingredients(my hatred for tomatoes). Service is quick and friendly. The line is typically short for now, but once people get a taste for their food I don’t think it will remain this way. If you are looking for a satisfying lunch come by for some tacos, or something else like tacos, tacos and more tacos.
