Huge supporter of food trucks however this one was a major let down. I hate to write a negative review as I had high expectations for this food truck from the other reviews I read. Overall, the food lacked flavor. Simple as that. I had the ‘3 Taco’s’ in which I got the spicy chicken, the ginger chicken and the pork. None were good. The seasoning was horrible and the cucumbers mixed in brought absolutely nothing to the dish. Save your money and avoid this place.

Big D’s Grub Truck Heavily Focused on Asian Cuisine Food: 3.25 Stars I have enjoyed all my dishes so far from the Khao Cart up until now, but I’ve had an issue with each one. One pork dish was about 20% fat(mostly around the edges) which is edible and taste good, but is very unhealthy even for a pork dish. On two occasions the pork dish was dry and very tough to cut into. The rice does tend to be on the dry side more often than not. Don’t get me wrong the flavors and spices of the dishes are excellently done, but the cook time and preparation of the food need to improve significantly. Less time cooking the pork, more time trimming the fat/gristle and better storage for the items are needed. I do enjoy the sauce on shaking beef, which makes me sad that I don’t see it on the menu too often. The limited menu options are somewhat problematic. One day I will see one menu item that looks interesting(while passing by) then I won’t see it on the menu again for a week or two. It is rare for there to be more than 2 – 3 options to choose from at any given point in time. While it does bring down the number of ingredients you need it does limit the customers who will be interested. Not to mention if you cannot consistently create the current dishes on the menu, expanding it is also an issue. Service/Speed: 4.25 Stars Lines are almost non-existent here. I have yet to wait longer than 5 minutes to order/pay/receive me food. Staff is polite and friendly. Overall: 3.49 Stars The flavors of the dishes are very good but the inconsistencies in the dishes are a problem. There is rarely a line and the food is served quickly. Limited menu options are a mild issue. They are worth a try when the lines at the other food trucks/carts in the area have long lines. You will more than likely enjoy the food, but just hope it isn’t overcooked or fatty.

For only $ 9, they give you a lot of meat, and they accept credit cards too! I had Loco Grande and it was very good. I would definitely try other items on their menu.

Tried the loco grande and was fairly impressed. To be a real loco moco, it needs more gravy and some macaroni salad, and it didn’t have those things. But it was still satisfying. The hamburger was delicious and was more like a meatloaf than a burger patty(better than a loco moco i’ve gotten once where it’s just a costco patty grilled straight up.) Finally, my egg was well done, yolk was fully cooked. A bit of a downer. Not sure how it is related to Thai food, but it was nice, I guess. I’d probably try some of the other carts that hang out here next time, before I have another Loco Moco.

I’ve been a huge fan of Big D’s Grub Truck for a while now. I was excited to hear about the Cart expansion. As usual, the lines were long so I try to time it when it’s off-peak. The staff is always friendly! I have tried almost everything on their menu and by far my favorite is their version of the Loco Moco. My second favorite is the Green Curry, which I’m normally not even a fan of but it was like the perfect curry taste. I’m SO glad that it’s parked across the street from my office so I get to have Big D’s at least once a week.

Got Loco grande at the cart. Was not a loco moco. Not enough gravy and patty was dry. I would stick with the truck. Food is much better.

Food was good. I got the Ga Ro Ti(Vietnamese Roasted Chicken and dirty rice). The chicken was very tasty and juicy. The dark meat helped. It was easy to cut and was bonesless with very little fat. The dirty rice was tasty but a little dry. I believe it has coconut in there for texture which I really liked but for some they may not be a fan. They gave a little thing of sweet chili sauce as a condiment which goes nice. I definitley feel this is a good eat, but a little pricey. $ 9.00. It is a good sized portion so if you are a delicate eater, you can have left overs for the evening or the next day. Enjoy!

Creative cuisine with a splash of Asian influence. I had a fruit salad this morning for breakfast so for lunch I wanted something more substantial. Tried the Loco Moco today after hearing about it from several people /sites — and it did not disappoint. This was a well seasoned, expertly cooked beef patty over a bed of rice, topped with gravy, fried egg, and basil. It’s like having a burger with out the buns — or eggs without the mysterious sausage /bacon on the side. I’ve never had the food in this combination before, I wish they served this for brunch on the weekends — and I can see this cart as a big hit every day but especially on Fridays after our«responsible» happy hour outings from the night before ;) There was a ridiculous line for tempeh and seitan for a vendor next to the Big D’s Khao Cart and I’m NOT about to spend half of my lunch break waiting for my food. I don’t know about you but I’d prefer hearty, flavorful, and original beef, chicken, and pork dishes from Big D’s Khao Cart over that any day. The food was filling, but it was not overly heavy or greasy(aka no food coma). After lunch I felt energized and ready to face the next few hours of work. Big D’s Khao Cart, thanks, and welcome to the NYC lunch scene!

Big D’s Kao cart is like Big D’s little brother with a twist. The Hawaiian Loco Mocos are right up my alley(yeah, I can’t take any heat: P) The juicy burger, fragrant jasmine rice, AND the fried egg on top? It’s like heaven in a little take out box.

I was thinking midtown needed a Viet food vendor and a Thai food vendor. Big D’s Khao Cart has both! I tried the Vietnamese Shaking Beef(Bo Luc Lac) and it tasted great. It tasted just as good as the dish in the Phở places in Brooklyn, except with fresh ingredients. I will probably try the curry next.
