Made a reservation for Thursday night and the place was packed when we walked in but as promised there was a table for 2 waiting for us by the window. We asked the server for app recommendations and we went with his suggestion of the grilled octopus which was amazing. Cooked perfectly. Very tender, nothing chewy about it. We also got the arugula salad which was excellent and enough to share between the 2 of us. For entrée we went with other Unilocalers suggestion of the numero 28 pizza with proscuitto, mushrooms, truffle oil – mmm– delish! For dessert we did the panna cotta with berries which was amazing. I am still thinking about the entire dinner 2 days later! It seemed like a team effort with service. For example, the guy who took our order and gave us recommendations never came back and then 2 other servers were attending to us. I didn’t mind this but to other diners who may be confused who their server is, perhaps it’s a team setting is my point… Also be aware it’s CASHONLY… they have an ATM in the restaurant and the fee isn’t crazy so that’s convenient.

Epic pizza and dinner. Only downside is how busy the place is. Everything we ate was delicious. You cannot go wrong here.

The food is pretty good, but it’s a bit on the expensive side AND they only take cash. Although my waiter was very nice and attentive, he did not tell me that this was a cash-only restaurant until after my meal. They do have an ATM there, but with fees, it can be a bit annoying. There is a sign out front that says cash-only, but it’s discrete enough that I didn’t notice it before walking in. Aside from the financial issues, this place does have good food.

Fabulous!!! Loved everything about this wonderful place. The pizza and the service and the stories about Italy and the Lemonchello. It was a perfect experience and I’ll be going back each time I go to New York. Ask for Francesca. She is precious!!!

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Número 28! It was probably the first restaurant I tried when I moved to the UWS and I haven’t tried another pizza place since! I’m pretty picky when it comes to NY pizza — Luzzo’s was my go-to when I lived downtown and that sets the bar quite high. Fortunately, número 28 hits the mark. Their pizzas are fantastic, good crunchy crust, delicious sauce and cheese. I’ve tried a whole variety of their red and white pizzas and haven’t had a bad slice yet. They are cash only in the restaurant but if you order delivery/takeout, they are on seamless.

This place is AMAZING! I’ve been dining regularly at Número 28UWS for 2 years now and have yet to find something negative to say. Everything always tastes so fresh and delicious! The food, atmosphere and friendly staff make you feel like you are sitting in a restaurant in Italy! If I could give 10 stars I would! Recommendations: — Soup of the day(always made fresh with different vegetables) — Eggplant Parm(melts in your mouth) — Tartufo/Número 28 pizzas(TRUFFLE) — Homemade Tiramisu for dessert is a must! The menu changed a little bit recently so I have yet to try all the new goodies but Número 28, if you are reading this– PLEASEBRINGBACKTHEPAPPARDELLEWITHLAMBRAGU!!! –S

I got the medium Numero 28 pizza. It was oval shaped and it was fairly large! I ate every bite! The creaminess of the sauce and the saltiness of the proscutto was really good. And the best part was that the resturant was within walking distance of my hotel! I got my pizza to go but the place was fairly busy so when I dine in, I will be making a reservation or coming in early.

Another eh! Pizza. Nothing to say about it. Very bad prepared and served. You order a cheese pizza and you end up eating slices without cheese so it’s NOT a cheese pizza. Same with Margherita, Quattro Stagione, etc. The ingredients are thrown in there like confetti. Same waiter told me that you need to order the individual pizza that is done better. But… I’m not going to go back so suit yourself!

I haven’t had a pizza this good on the upper west side ever :) Thin crust, great sauce– I had one with artichoke, ham, olives and it wasn’t just sprinkled with ingredients, they were baked in with the cheese. Very filling and I look forward to ordering a pasta dish or salad next.

Un vrai Resto italien a New York !

AMAZING food and service! We hosted a birthday party at Numero 28 and I was blown away by the service and care from the entire staff of the restaurant. Everyone was working really hard to make sure all of the guests were happy, and the food came quickly and was delicious as always! It’s rare to find restaurants where you feel like you’re really taken care of.

I ordered from Numero 28 for the first time tonight through Seamless. I live in the neighborhood and have never dined in the restaurant or ordered from them before. But we wanted pizza and decided to try something new. Big mistake. On Seamless the menu offers different sizes for their pizzas, so we ordered an 18 inch. By NYC standards, we were expecting a round 18 inch pizza. What we got was a rectangular pizza about 18×9 inches. As there was no indication on the Seamless menu that the pizza would be smaller than a standard 18 inch, we called the restaurant. The woman who answered was SO incredibly rude as kept talking over me about how it’s clear in the restaurant that these are not round pizzas(After I said I’ve never been there and this was my first order). She kept saying the issue is with Seamless and not their restaurant and that they weigh the pizza and it’s the same size and it’s how pizza is made in Italy(I’ve been to Italy, what is her point) and that they have 5 locations in the city and no one has EVER complained(really?). My issue is that we received a smaller pizza than advertised, which she kept denying and insisted they were the same size. Umm, do the math. We called again later to complain to the manager who basically made the same excuses and made no attempt to remedy the situation. Terrible business etiquette. We’ll stick with our usual Patsy’s from now on. P. S. To the Numero 28 management, I had a similar situation with a Seamless order from a Japanese restaurant I’d never used before. They took over an hour to deliver so I called to complain. The manager immediately gave me a credit for the next time I ordered, and now they have a regular customer. If they treated me the way Numero 28 did, would that be the case?

We placed a to go order and it was not the best Italian food we have had in NYC. My friend is new to the neighborhood and after running around all day we decided to order in. For a restaurant that posts their menu in Italian in their website, it’s shameful that they serve mushy spaghetti. The pepperoni pizza was just okay. They delivered on time but not with all the requested items(parm Cheese and bread, another salad). With so many good places to eat, it will be awhile before we try this one again(if at all).

Numero 28 generally doesn’t disappoint when it comes to pizza. It is still one of my favorite pizza joints in the city. This West Village location with the wood interior with a friendly staff on a super rainy night was just what we were in the mood for. I’d have to say the population change is quite noticeable between locations. This location put out the same quality of pizza which is nice. I just rather prefer the East Village or the Greenwich location thought. No offense to the UWS peeps. I just like like vibe below 14th… ie no tables full of kids.

This place has a really fun atmosphere. It was BYO when I went(not sure if it still is because the UWS location changed). The pizzas are worth the price especially when you split a few with friends.

Yes yes yes! The numero 28 pizza is the bomb: truffle cream and prosciutto. How can you go wrong? I’m craving it right now. It helps that they deliver to my apartment. They also have a stellar plain Margharita Pizza. If you’re not as much of a fan of stronger flavors, steer clear of pizza with Gorgonzola on it, it was a bit too strong for me. The pizza here is great for sharing, no matter what size group you have, as you can get different sized pizzas and also switch in and out different toppings. Numero 28 also has a great selection of wine and friendly waiters.
