I would DEFINITELY come here again. The broccoli taco was incredible. They have several locations which is sweeeeeet and they were super fast and super nice! Woo!

Not bad at all. I might re-​visit this review after I’ve sampled a few more of their menu items. I had the «perfect chicken» sandwich and the «karate kid». I think the chicken sandwich was the winner, but actually I would have preferred my chicken to be a bit fresher (seemed like it had been fried way earlier).
Service was quick and friendly, but don’t plan on dining in because this place is all about the take-​out. Worth a try if you’re in the area and looking for a decent sandwich shop…

Tastes very good. Highly recommend the smoked salmon sub. A good place for lunch! Price around 10 bucks for a whole sub.

I used to love this place. Haven’t been in 3 years, but their sandwiches are so original and super good.

So much disappointment. My coworker and I had such high hopes for these sandwiches. Bean bean hummus (which is really more like a sauce) is something that we were so into. Avocado everything? Yes, we wanted it. but when we got it, we realized that we were being overzealous.
These sandwiches are a little boring. While the ingredients in each sandwich work well together, only have the two or three ingredients make them overly simple. It’s a good sandwich for what it is — but no «wow» factor. Also, the portion size is disappointing. A «large» sandwich is actually pretty small. It’s sad when Subway makes larger sandwich than your large. The search for an Ike’s worthy sandwich in NYC continues… it’ s time to go back to the deli.

Visited No. 7 Sub for the first time the other day and ordered ½ a Perfect Chicken sandwich. Sounds boring, but it was still delicious and filling.
The bread to filling ratio was good, and the bread was light.
The crispy chicken was moist, had a nice crunch to it, and wasn’t too heavy.
Liked the sandwich overall, and I’d definitely go back to try their other sandwiches as there was a good selection.

The broccoli taco was EPIC… so much flavor and black bean hummus was delicious. So good I went 2x in a day. And the cookies are good too.

Delicious sandwiches. Meat is sliced nice and thick and pretty affordable for this part of town.

I became a fan of this place several years ago, and can’t resist stopping in at lunch time if at all possible if I’m in the area. They’ve now expanded their hours into the evening, so you have no excuse about stopping in, and have added locations, although this is the only one (Ace Hotel location) I’ve been to. They’ve added to the menu as well, and I can’t get past the subs to sample the tacos. (I have a theory that the owners were incredibly prescient in choosing a name that corresponds to the mythic No. 7 train from NJ.) They have several vegetarian subs, and the last time I was there (getting the General Tso’s Seitan), the sub size seemed to have gotten smaller — an improvement in my view — as I recall them formerly being almost too much for a meal. The half sub is plenty big enough. I recommend the side of pickles as well.

Went in with one of my friends as a «I heard this place is great» recommendation, and it was. I had the karate kid, never really thought about a pairing of pulled pork, avocado, and mozzarella would taste so great but it does. Glad I went, will go again, love a great hoagie!

You may say that a sandwich is a boring lunch option, but I call it a classic. Now, a crappy sandwich is pretty much the saddest kind of lunch, but luckily every variety I’ve tried at No. 7 has been unique and spectacular. They’re known for their broccoli sub, which sounds gross but it’s weirdly delicious. The magic is in the broccoli, which is seasoned and very flavorful. One might even say it borders on salty, which is why it’s so well paired with their pickled lychee (another bizarre sandwich fixing that just somehow works). Then they add some feta and crispy friend onions. All of this is squeezed between some nice fresh bread. So tasty!
If you want to go the more conventional route, they have more in the box options like turkey and avocado or caprese. I tried the ‘perfect chicken sandwich’ (who can resist a name like that?) and it was simple but really great — warm crispy chicken, and just some pickles and a light slather of mayo. I thought of it as a kind of elevated McChicken sandwich. Very nice!
The negatives: you can forget about this place if you’re someone who likes to eat lunch at a normal lunchtime. I’d say any time after 11:45 you’re pretty much guaranteed to wait in a long and slow line. The space is tiny so it’s not really comfortable to wait for it, either. The prices are also not great — not awful, but not great. Half a sandwich is $ 7.75 and a whole is $ 11.75. A half is enough for me for lunch but it’s not huge.
As a self-​proclaimed sandwich connoisseur, I’d say this is one of my favorite places in the area for a sando. Just watch the time if you decide to pay a visit!

Mixed feelings on the first visit to No. 7 Subs.
While the space is cramped (to-​go only) the staff is friendly and the line moves quickly.
The menu selections are somewhat eclectic but all awesome. I decided to make my own.
The chicken cutlet was very crisp but overwhelmingly salty. The mozzarella was surprisingly good quality. The tomatoes were ripe. The bread definitely was a little better than a generic roll but not strikingly great. Overall the ingredients were good quality and they were not cheap with the portions.
From what I could tell on my first visit, if you like your sandwiches heated up, you may be out of luck here, that does not bother me though, so I will be returning.

Only been to the broadway location but apparently it got started in Brooklyn has a quite a fanfare.
Only two vegetarian options — groovy bellbottoms and zucchini parm (special and not on the main menu but is always there)
All sandwiches are made in Italian white bread (wish they had whole wheat option). A bit pricy as the sandwich plus chips could cost you $ 15.
It says you have to option of customize your sandwich but never tried.
Definitely hypsterish!!!

I am entirely meh about these subs. The problem is that they seem like they are gonna be a grand slam but when it comes to game time, they are a foul ball. I was so underwhelmed that I can’t say that I even want to give these subs a second go. We even tried two, the broccoli and the karate kid (may have tried out different ones but they were out of eggs and chicken), and both of them were sub-par…if you get my drift (get it???)
The only saving grace about this place is the staff, they were incredibly friendly after a seemingly long day of running out of ingredients. And the food was made quickly! But the price was far too high for some mediocre sammies. Wish I would have bought the Zapps potato chips, I know those would have been the highlight of the trip!
Also– as an FYI, this shop is not INSIDE the aAce Hotel, but rather — simply connected to it.

The portions are huge! Stick with the zucchini parm and you won’t go wrong. I tried the Sub Club II and while it was good, it wasn’t amazing.

I heard about this place through one of my many food resources and convinced my friends to check it out with me. From my intel, this place prides itself on creativity and combinations that you wouldn’t normally think about… essentially all the things that makes a place uniquely awesome. It’s a no-​frills, walk-​up counter spot with no more than 2 or 3 seats. Some of the names on the menu were quite entertaining, and appropriate, as well — from «The Karate Kid» to «Linsanity» to «Sub Club II — The Club Strikes Back». The menu was full of so many interesting and appetizing concoctions that I really just wanted to empty my wallet right then and there. Though I restrained myself and noticed a special off to the side. Because I’m an out-​of-​towner not knowing when I’d be back in NY, I decided to go with that and not an item off their standard menu. Looking at the subs that my friends got, it was clear that no option was a bad one.
So what was the special sub they had for that day? They called it «The Pirlo», which I’m guessing is named after the Italian soccer player on NYC’s team. This spectacular sub had Genoa Salami, Fried Zucchini, Fresh Mozzarella, Pickled Blueberries and Pickled Onions. I never thought to put blueberries on a sub before, let alone pickle them first. But this sub was one of the most uniquely incredible subs I’ve ever had. It was a flavor explosion, but still very well-​balanced at the same time. It was a perfectly crafted sub.
Overall, it really doesn’t seem like you can go wrong here. It’s an awesome spot with friendly service providing quick and delicious subs. What more do you need?

I’ve had various sandwiches here but never tried the Broccoli sub, which everyone says is the best. I always go in with the intention of getting it, but always buckle under pressure because I just prefer to have protein in the sandwich.
Sandwiches are good, but I think slightly over hyped. (Cool area in midtown, artisianal sandwiches…).

This is another example of me hoping to upgrade my three-​star review to four later on.
I’ve order to-​go from No. 7 three times. Huge caveat: I’ve ordered them at 5 and then eaten them about three hours later. Maybe these subs just need to be eaten pretty quickly.
All three of the subs I’ve eaten have been completely meh. The broccoli salad had a lot of potential, but by the time I got it everything was completely bland. The seitan sandwiches had no pop whatsoever. The cheese was congealed and a bit rubbery by the time I bit in to it.
And yes, these are definitely 5″, not 6″, subs.
I really want to like this place – the flavors seem interesting and they have a ton of veggie options, but they need to load these sandwiches with a lot more veggies. I feel like I need to give it at least one more shot…

Disappointing. Got the «Chris Pratt is Hooked on a Feeling», half sandwich, closer to 5″ than 6″. It had roast pork, provolone, fried garlic, and Fritos. But the taste was nothing special, bread wasn’t toasted, one slice of provolone unmelted, and the pork was rather plain. First time here, and I wanted to like this place and make it a potential go-​to lunch spot, but it just feels like leftovers from the kitchen slapped together for $ 7.75.

Anytime I’m in the area I have to stop in for the Zucchini Parm. I love that they put chips on the sandwich which is something I (and I know plenty of other people) did as we were kids. Adds a nice crunch to the sandwich which is otherwise delicious. They also always had a really good broccoli sandwich.
I looked at their menu online and it looks quite different than I remember it, with about 10x as many sandwiches as I remember them having, with funky names they didn’t used to have. Curious if they’ve switched management or chefs; I’ll have to check it out again and update my review accordingly. My hope is it’s just as good!

My boyfriend, who works in the city, took me to this cute sandwich shop, located directly next to the Ace hotel. We went on a Saturday, and there was no one there, which apparently is the opposite on weekdays.
The menu is very artisanal. Combinations that I, myself, would never think of!
Can’t go wrong with general tso in a sandwhich!

Ordered a ½ sub and the coleslaw for pick up. There was a long line but luckily I got to go right to the front since I preordered.
Got the NO. 7 SUB CLUB II — THE CLUB STRIKES BACK
Turkey, Slow Roasted Pork, Pico de Lettuce, BBQ Chips, SANS Pickled Jalapenos
Nothing really special about the sandwich. Chips were super soggy so they didn’t add much.
Coleslaw was good but lacked the creaminess that usually comes with coleslaw.
Wouldn’t rush back.

I don’t understand why the zucchini parm gets such high reviews here. It isn’t fried properly, so the zucchini is all soggy. NOOOOOOOO bueno. And it’s almost $ 12 for a sandwich that’s mostly bread. Needs more veggies. I added avocado and Sriracha when I got home which made it better. Everything was just mediocre. Not the worst ever, but this does not live up to the hype AT ALL.
The service is really good here though. Efficient and friendly. Line at lunchtime moves quickly even if it’s long. No seating area, so only good for grab-​n-​go.

After the renovation, they changed their bread and stopped toasting the sandwiches, which together made the sandwiches go from «awesome, creative, crunch, chewy, delicious baguette thing!» to «interesting but… so chewy… and cold…»
Bring back the toaster!

Buenos sándwiches, mercadería súper fresca. Opciones veganas disponibles. Me pareció un poco caro, pero no exageradamente. Buena opción para comer al paso y quedar satisfecho.

Easy to miss as your walking down Broadway… but definitely worth the stop!
Zucchini park sandwich is AMAZING!!! This place is a must try…
