Great food and excellent service. The place is very clean and tastefully decorated and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to go back the next time we are in the area.

Randomly went to this place because we were craving Szechuan and Han Dynasty had a 3 hour wait down the block. While it doesn’t measure up to Han Dynasty, it certainly was extremely good and better than most Szechuan places in town. I had some of the scallion pancakes, shrimp dumplings, ma po tofu, Dan Dan noodles, and crispy spicy chicken. Everything was delicious. In particular, I’d highly recommend the scallion pancakes with beef and the crispy spicy chicken dish. The ma po tofu lacked the peppercorn flavoring in other ma po tofus I’ve had but it was very spicy and the tofu melts in your mouth with its silkiness just as it is suppose to. The service here was quite good and they have a great bar selection. The prices are also extremely reasonable and they have plenty of seats. They weren’t very busy on a Friday night during peak time so if you can’t get in somewhere else and just want to sit down and eat delicious Chinese food, this is your best bet.

I’m leaving a review for the lovely customer service that I received I felt the good, kind energy of the people who greeted me, and took care of me. Very genuine! I had the rice chicken/shrimp combination inside of this bamboo boat. Great little Chinese place with LOTS of options. A bit pricy… but the amount is worth every cent.

Stopped by for lunch — admittedly a limited sampling(soup, entrée & rice), but it was not good: + Hot & sour soup was your standard version: gloopy and dark brown with tofu, some shredded scallions etc. Pretty salty and not especially flavorful or spicy/hot. + «Kung po» chicken was a pretty poor rendition. Wayyyyy oversalted — in fact, excessive saltiness was really the only flavor that came through. Small, gristly pieces of chicken, large under-cooked hunks of bell pepper, diced broccoli stems, and peanuts, swimming in a super-salty, not spicy, greasy brown sauce. + Asked for white rice but got brown. Decent space and sweet service… but food was a definite let-down, even by neighborhood Chinese standards…

BEST Chinese I have had so far during my stay in NYC. The Wonton Soup, Orange Chicken, Chow Fun, Beef and Broccoli, and Fried Rice is delicious. The service is quick and very friendly as well. I’m already craving this spot again just by typing these words and remembering the deliciousness of all the stuff my husband and I have tried thus far at this place. So much yum.

Went with the quite satisfying Lunch Special #16. Ma Po Tofu with Minced Pork(Lunch) 1 + 8.25 Delete How Spicy?: Spicy Choice of Rice: Brown Rice Choice of Side: Vegetable Roll(could knock them down a star for the greasiness of these 2 badboys, but why bother?) + $ 2 Side of Brown Rice to hit the Eat24 weekly code minimum Unclear if this is related to the Mulan in Flushing Odd Unilocal address attempt

I love Chinese cuisine, so I had to swing by and give this place a try. Mulan East is pretty solid and I will most certainly be a returning customer. My friend and I ordered 2 lunch specials(Mopo Tofu and Szechuan Chicken) which came with hot and sour soup. Not only are they incredibly well-priced at $ 9, the serving portions are relatively large and absolutely delicious! An easy win over the Grand Sichuan on St. Marks. In addition, the servers are incredibly friendly and patient. We ended up staying for a little over 3 hours and the waiters continued to bring us water and tea until we left.

We have been scouting for decent Chinese food for delivery for the past few months here in East Village. We are really happy to discover Mulan East. First of all, VERY courteous delivery person. When I’m hangry the last thing I want to deal with is a rude person delivering my food. Next, good food! Even if it’s just take out, the ingredients used are of better quality and its more flavorful, and I’m comparing this to other chinese restaurants with a $ 8.95 lunch special. Last thing, I can conveniently order it online. Win.

This restaurant is truly a top contender of a Chinese restaurant! For lunch, I ordered the Eggdrop soup to start, crab Rangoon as an appetizer and the beef noodle soup with chili oil for the main course. I felt so satisfied because of the combination of flavors, portion sizes and textures. On top of that, the staff were friendly. They never bothered the customers extensively, but only intervening to bring water or take away dirty plates. In this environment, any customer will leave satisfied!

When Yummy House on Third Ave between 11th and 12th Streets closed several years ago it broke a lot of hearts. Especially mine but I’m happy to say that the same owners and head chef have recently opened Mulan East! It’s the best Chinese food in the City period. Great service and really nice ambience as well. I live and work nearby and will surely be a Regular there.

My friend and i stumbled onto this new joint. The staff is super friendly. For cold appetizer, we ordered a Cucumber with Garlic Flavor dish and it was very interesting(in a good way). We also ordered the Salted and Pepper Fries… BBQ Pork, Kale Fried Brown Rice, soup dumplings and a shrimp dish. Let me just say the food was fantastic and the staff was super friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed the Kale fried rice because is not your typical Chinese dish and was pretty amazing as it had cranberries in it so definitely a must try. the BBQ pork was cooked to perfection… wasn’t greasy at all. The soup dumplings was also fantastic, but make sure you eat it when is hot… so juicy so much flavor without crazy amount of grease! Thai ice tea was also really good, is not super sweet so u are not overwhelm but definitely authentic Thai tea. definitely would go back and recommend. Went back a 2nd time and had a apple sake cocktail… OMG delicious and their liquor is so reasonably priced! They got wine and beer.

I usually don’t write reviews because I’m too lazy to do it, but I had to write one for mulan east so other people can know of its deliciousness and they will stay in business for a long long time! This restaurant only opened three weeks ago just a few blocks away from where I live. I have been searching for a really great American Chinese restaurant as my boyfriend is very particular with his Chinese food while I am a bit more adventurous to more of the authentic Chinese dishes, but I like American Chinese just as much! I have been disappointed by many other American style Chinese restaurants as the food tends to be very greasy and poorly made while some of the restaurants are not the cleanest unfortunately. Mulan east blew me away(and I’m a tough critic). We have the hot and sour soup, and the wonton soup, the pork and crab soup dumplings, the shrimp lo mein, the pepper steak(not on menu but we asked for it), and the spicy chicken hot pot, everything was DELICIOUS! Nothing was greasy or overloaded with sauce, and the hot and sour soup was the best that I’ve had in a long time. I’m always on the hunt for a good Hot and sour soup as it is my most favorite soup in the world, and mulan east certainly delivered! Oh and to boost, they have great service which is tough to come by for many Chinese restaurants. Highly recommend and so super excited this place has opened!!!

Enjoyed a 5 star meal at Mulan East after seeing a movie down the block. Great ambiance, excellent service, felt very at home. Food was made very fresh and fast. The taste was outstanding. The grilled pork chop was excellent. Very tender and melted in your mouth. This restaurant is highly recommended to everyone.

I second Daniel W’s Review. We were there too with his wife. luscious. As great as Han Dynasty! Portions were ample and taste divine! No 3 hour obnoxious wait!

I would have to certainly agree with Danny W and Merrill W since we were in the same party that night… attentive service and delicious food made for a great evening. All courses were very well prepared and came out on time and there was no snooty 3 hour wait as that other Chinese restaurant just down the street was quoting.

Brand spanking new joint with super kind service and delicious dishes. Menu has a lot of depth. Definitely going back to take on the adventure and try new dishes. We dropped in on Xmas after walking from The madness at Rockefeller. The pangs of hunger drove us into a partial moment of a lapse in judgement that looking back, would have been a delicious choice — General Tso’s. But alas, opted for something slightly healthier. We snagged the Mapo tofu, beef noodle soup bowl, and a scallion pancake. Blown away! Literally the most satisfying Mapo I’ve ever had. Deeply flavorful with mouth numbing morsels in a rich sauce, this dish was everything we needed. The beef noodle was on par as well with super tender beef bits and a delicious stock. The pancake was definitely made from scratch and puts the ones we make at home to shame. Get there!

Admittedly only went to Mulan East because the X-Mas wait for Han Dynasty was 3 hours. Needless to say I’m happy we had to go with our second choice. The food was absolutely delicious and the service impeccable. My wife and I shared the Chicken in Hot Chili Sauce, Dan Dan Noodles and General Tso’s shrimp all were top notch. We WILL be back!

A new restaurant with great food. Had a general tso chicken and tasted much better then your typical Chinese take out restaurants! Great place for dates, right around the corner from the movie theater. Or great place to go to eat before going to Webster Hall or even before going to St. Mark’s for some drinks! Have to get the scallion pancake with beef!
