used to love this place. Great food at cheap prices. Sanitation has gone to the pitts! The place is dirty. they have been shut down for health violations. found mold in dipping sauce. Not worth getting sick.

Such good fish! And they give generous portions of fish in each roll(not rice heavy). Excellent specialty rolls. Try Fire Island or Twin Spicy.

I love this place! I like the design of the restaurant, the service is great. The quality of the fish for sushi is amazing, great whole lobster, and many other awesome things. One of the best dinner I had in Month!

I ordered the pad thai. It comes in a very large bowl – and I took the rest home. But no complaints here.

My BFF and I came to Friend House for dinner on a Saturday night. It was relatively busy, but we were able to be seated right away. The restaurant itself has two floors(top floor being for larger parties), but the overall décor is romantically hip with a slight Oriental feel. I’m usually not a fan of fusion places, as it’s difficult to master one Asian cuisine, let alone four, but my friend recommended it as she had been here once before and loved the food. It took us a while to order because our waitress was busy tending to other tables, but we got an order of edamame on the house because apparently my friend knew someone who worked there. We were quite hungry, so we ordered a crispy tofu appetizer to split, a tom yum soup and spicy fish for me, and chicken and vegetables with peanut sauce for her. We also got a lychee martini for her and a lychee Bellini for me. Both were delicious. The soup came out first, and holy crap it was huge! I didn’t realize it would’ve been a meal in itself, so I split it with my friend. The soup itself was pretty good, although I’m used to tom yum soups being a little more sour than this one. The crispy tofu was delicious too; I especially loved the sweet and sour dipping sauce. Our entrees took some time to come out(thank goodness, we were already stuffed, so we needed time to digest a little), but we both loved our orders(my fish was perfectly fresh and spicy) and managed to finish everything despite our growing food babies. Friend House has a pretty expansive menu, so I will be back to try other things as well as get another round of lychee Bellini! P. S. That night was especially bittersweet because it was the night that Whitney Houston(one of my singing idols) passed away, so the staff was playing all of her songs. I, as well as a few other patrons from the surrounding tables, was singing my heart out like it was a karaōke joint, and the staff was perfectly okay with it. R.I.P., Whitney Houston.

My girl friend and I had were starving so we decided checkout this place because it was across from the bar we were meeting friends at. Thai, Japanese and Chinese food all in one place. asian sensation. I’m glad we did. We were seated promptly. There were approximately 12 tables in the restaurant and I believe an upstairs area that was closed off. I had a mango rum drink and she had a coconut lychee martini($ 5 for specialty drinks during HH! We got in there around 5pm) We swapped drinks. App: Yellowtail Scallion Roll($ 6) Entrees: She has shrimp tempura roll and spicy tuna rolls, I opted for a tradition Thai dish– Chicken Tamarind($ 12)…YUMMMMMMMMM. The dish contained chicken, pineapple, bell peppers, onions, asparagus and another vegetable. The sauce was a little too sweet for me but delicious nevertheless. Décor: Dark, romantic & sexy. Lots of red and dim lighting. They had house music playing in the background, odd choice but I enjoyed the music. Negatives: WEWEREFREEZING! I was eating with a jacket on and secondly they were missing several items from the menu(no toro, lobster and I think squid?) I overheard another table order and they asked for a few things that the waitress apologized for no longer having on a menu. How can you operate a business with prime selling items missing?

Went to Friend house on Friday night, for the longest time I thought I was being invited to someones house, but no this is the name! Hint to you looking for the spot –its on the corner of the street and has Red Lights. Looks like a red light special district! But holler back this place rocks. 1st the host: super friendly and cute! Very nice, sat us immediately. Great customer service. Now for the waitress: Savanna –she was FANTASTIC! So nice, great fast service, so bubblie! We lovedddddddddd Savanna!!! Food: Chicken Nuggets sweet and sour? Their Thai coconut chicken(made spicy) was out of this world. I would go back everyday and order it. Soooo Tasty. Sushi was extremely fresh –my favorites: Fire Island, Yellow-tail, and Salmon Roll. Drinks: Keep them coming please! The drinks were strong and came fast.(wow that sounds dirty) Get your mind out of the gutter. I will def go back and so should you! Ask for Savanna she is amazing.

DELICIOUS and welcoming sushi spot! Friends and I had the pleasure of dining & drinking at «Friend House» this past wknd — so happy we checked this place out. The menu is a little all over the place: Chinese to Thai to Japanese food. We started first with the sushi which was awesomely tasty and fresh — we ordered the yellowtail-jalapeño roll which was so crunchy and yummy we immediately ordered a second roll. Then tried a few of the special rolls, FIREISLANDROLL is a must order — the red and white tuna was decadent. Sashimi was thick, top quality and sliced properly. I was in heaven my entire meal, I could have stayed there all night. We also tried a Thai dish — chicken, pineapple, mango and peppers in a sweet and spicy sauce — BOMB.COM! Drinks are strong and mighty, also very decently priced. I LOVED everyone working at Friend House, especially Savannah who was a sweetheart and very attentive to our table. Joe was cool too. Lots of peeps were getting their drink on at the bar. Atmosphere was trendy and they were setting some serious moods with the lighting. I can’t wait to go back — again, pumped we found this place!

Ate there with my dad last night. The red dragon roll(crunchy spicy tuna, lemon wasabi sauce and avocado wrapped in pepper tuna and avocado) was one of the best sushi rolls I have had in a long time. I was regretting offering to share it with dad :) The green curry with prawns was also incredible. The yuzu lime specialty cocktail was delish and the service was fast and friendly.

Ordered Seamless delivery twice. First time: got chicken with mushrooms rice pot with a side of hot and sour soup. Totally standard and nothing special. Second time: got chirashi. Fairly good, actually. Moral of the story: get the sushi, not the chinese food.

Another successful dinner party — yay! Everyone had a really great time. Food was excellent, service was attentive and they went above and beyond! Our server offered to take pictures for us AND they comped us a couple of desserts because they saw we were celebrating a duo of birthdays. They didn’t even give me any grief when our party was only 8, though I reserved for 10. Sorry! Sometimes we reserve for 10 and we’re actually 12… or 14! I have to give props for a place that does all three regions of food on a level as high as this. Usually something is going to suffer. True it’s more a Chinese version of Thai and Japanese. But the Chinese is better than most and the others are really good even if not the most authentic. Everyone agreed with me about their assorted dumpling platter– YUM! Tried the calamari and cold sesame noodles, too. VERY good! The prices are totally reasonable for what you get. For all 8 of us sharing a bunch of apps and ordering our entrees from all three styles on the menu, we had a stellar time and enjoyed the food and ambience immensely. Go there! We’ll be back…

Went there today for Lunch with some friends and was pleasantly surprised by the new décor. They have a gorgeous mural behind the bar which really improved the atmosphere. They also have a new lunch menu with a new section for a 4 course brunch. As well as a couple new side dishes. I’ll try and snap some shots next time I’m there, trust me the food was amazing!

Update: According to the Department of Health website, they’re now a-ok(not posted in the restaurant yet, but probably soon). Glad things improved. I have only eaten here a couple of times, so can’t comment much on the food, but will likely try them again sometime soon.

«So you’re going to your friend’s place, his or her house?» my friend asks. «No, I’m going to Friend House; that’s what the place is called.» I replied. Funny name. This place is alright. The drinks were really cheap, compared to other places. I had the mojito and it was pretty tasty. Most of my other friends had the Sapporo, which came with sake, so you can do a bunch of sake bombs. No one did any tonight; I guess we were scared about Irene coming to town. In fact, the restaurant was quite empty for a Friday night. Yup, the scaredy cats were afraid to come out. We shared the pancake scallion wrap, Crispy Filet Of Red Snapper, and orange beef. The pancake scallion wrap was pretty good, but a little too greasy. It had beef, mangoes, and apparently some cucumbers, which you dip into this curry sauce. The mangoes actually complemented the whole thing, making this appetizer taste far lighter than it actually was. I wish that the pancake would be thinner though. It’s like eating a wad of dough sometimes. The red snapper was ok. Didn’t care too much for it. It was fried, and covered in this sweet sauce that tasted of a bunch of spices that were curry like. Not too sure. My taste buds were off that night since I had a minor cold. The orange beef was ok too. It was fried as well, and glazed in this spicy sweet sauce. All this greasiness and friedness coupled with a mojito and a shot of sake made me bloated and gassy to the max. I was feeling really nasty and just wanted to go home and let it all out. I didn’t even want to drink and go crazy anymore. Maybe I shouldn’t have eaten so much, but I was scared the alcohol would do something nasty to me, like make me hungry later or burn my stomach. Sucks being an Asian who is sensitive to alcohol… I really don’t like eating Chinese food, hence this place was not fantastic for me. However, this place is really cheap, so I would say it’s a good place for some decent drinks.

I’ve been consistently coming here every other week, if not every week. Sometimes just to sit down in a familiar/convenient setting with a friend within walking distance from the Union Square train station. There’s a running joke that I’m a Friend Whore, because by now I know the staff well enough for them to see me with different groups of people each time I come here. The food is consistently good and cheap. I usually get their sushi and sometimes their yummy veggie dumplings. Decent Happy Hour until 7PM. After coming here frequently for about 2 years, this update is on the first time I ate upstairs. I had made reservations for a table upstairs. They were slightly reticent, and I realize it’s because if there are seats available down stairs, their staff would have to traverse back and forth between upstairs and the kitchen. But the view, and the entire environment, are well worth it. Large windows, mirrors on the ceiling(my friends tried looking down people’s shirts) and you get a nice panoramic respite from the chaos down below. Very great and attentive service as well, which is never a minus.

Short and simple: BESTDUMPLINGS I HAVEEVERHAD! I was staying in the East Village about a month ago for about a week and was a little sick so wanted to order some good chinese food to make me feel better. I read all these reviews about their dumplings and thought I would give it a try. The appetizer came with 6 so a meal in itself(these things were huge). I ordered the chicken dumplings and let me tell you I couldn’t put them down. Soft and a little chewy casing with the big white meat chicken on the inside that reminded me of wonton chicken. Since it was during the weekday at 8pm the wait was about 45 minutes, which they told me right as I put in the order. The food came hot and perfectly around 45 minutes and there is absolutely no complaints about this restaurant. Good dumpling + fresh food = Friend House

**Ordered for delivery** Service: 2⁄5 Deliver took 43 minutes. Food: 1.5÷5 Sweet Corn/Egg Drop Soup was«okay» Wonton Soup was cold Eel&Avocado Roll: Eel was not fully cooked or too old cause it was very hard and difficult to chew. Spicy Tuna & Spicy Salmon tasted the same. The«California King Crab» roll was just imitation crab meat with a large cut of avocado. I was not impressed by the food, price or service.

I got the two sushi roll lunch special for about.9 $ It was pretty empty when we got in since it was afternoon and lunch time was almost over. Nice music(daughtry and others) Atmosphere was nice, kinda dark. They have the darkest bathroom ever! The lighting was so low, i was kinda amazed. Soo.my lunch Came with Miso soup which was okay. Then my avocado+eel roll and salmon with avocado came. The avocado+eel was aite, but the salmon piece was HUGe!!! I was pretty shock my salmon would be that big! Definitely worth your money. Also the seaweed salad was good. Sat by the window so it was a great view.

Asian Fusion is the more appropriate category rather than Asian Bistro. The quality of food is okay as it was geared specifially to the American non-Asian palate who are too ignorant to distinguish or appreciate true authentic Chinese or Japanese cuisine, thus four stars. Yet the Sushi and Sashimi combo for $ 20.00 complete me as a whole for the night. Disappointedly Friend House does not have the Japanese staples of Tonkatsu or Bento Box offered for either lunch or dinner as both are my ultimate favorite entrées! The service is somewhat attentive, although slow, as I came here for a holiday dinner party for one of my many Asian social networking groups. The staff is very accomodating to our large group of 45+ with a private room on the second floor. Friend House has a full service bar on the lower level as well as the second level. The quality of alcoholic drink for my Plum Wine was rather strong with volume content, despite it replinished my inner sweetness to blush happily and warmly throughout the dinner party! There is one stall restroom for both men and women on the second level without having patrons to inconveniently utilize the lower level’s facilities.
