Solid pizza place on the upper east side that also features surprisingly good non-pizza food. The chicken parm hero in particular is really good, and the pastas — while obviously not on the same level as a sit-down, gourmet Italian place — really hit the spot, particularly given the price. The pizza itself is also very good — it’s a tier below some of my absolute favorites(e.g. Joe’s, Pizza Pete’s), but still a very good choice when you’re looking for a solid NYC counter slice.

$ 3 for a dollar slice? They better put some truffle oil on my pizza. Meh

I wanted some pizza and this one came with great reviews so my daughter and I stopped in to try a couple of slices. I had the spinach with cheese and she had the tomatoes with cheese. The tomato slice was better tasting than the spinach on a not too thick but not thin crust. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Located outside of Central Park it was in a great location to grab a slice and then head into the park.

This is the only pizza spot within a 4 block radius in any direction, and 4 blocks is the closest. The only reason people go here is because there is no other choice. The plain pizza is not good, thick and doughy, with a sugary tomato sauce and cheese that reminds me of the kind I used to pull into strings as a kid. The pizza with toppings are just a plain pizza with toppings thrown on afterwards, and heated. The restaurant has not changed in at least 15 years, which would lead one to wonder about the upkeep in general. The sit down menu is beyond comprehensible in terms of price, and the quality is a full portion size of the pizza toppings, with pasta. Two stars because they are near the subway. Thanks?

None of the chefs wear gloves when prepping food and they are all cursing and saying horrible things in Spanish because they think you don’t understand I guess. $ 8 for 2 slices of white pizza is a bit steep. 2 stars because it tasted good but I like to be respected as a customer.

Mimi’s Pizza was, is, and always will be the best pizza in NYC! Stick with the plain and buy a loaf of bread to go.

Ok I love this place its RIGHT next to the Seahawks bar and their pizza is always sooo tasty. people always ask me WHERE I go and this actually is for sure the best pizza I’ve had in a while. The white pizza was really good. I still love my Larry Tate at Two boots, but its NEVER there when I go. I really LOVE that kind. If you are in there area you should defiantly get a slice, and there is NOOOOO card minimum.

If this is the best pizza in NYC I’ll go back to Cali. Who puts canned mushrooms on a pizza? Pizza was underdone and sausage tasted weird.

Fast, friendly service and really, really good pizza dough. Grab a slice and eat at the counter window.

The staff is nice. The pizza looks pretty good. But I ventured into their other side of business. The kitchen. I got spaghetti with chicken and basil. The plate was chipped, which is the niggling of a less than perfect experience. The marinara sauce that supposedly gives all flavor to pasta came covering the chicken completely and was so over cooked, that is fell into pieces, I moved it over and ate the pasta with deep fried chicken breast. In my opinion, it’s no way to run a kitchen. I made sure that the waiter got his well earned tip, but that he went into the kitchen and let them know that the sauce needs to go into the garbage bin. Horrible. Will come back in a couple of months to check up on you.

Took my family here today. The pizza was pretty good and the atmosphere was classic old pizzeria. The place was pretty busy for lunch and the service was average.

I was really hungry on a hot Monday afternoon and needed some a/c and a quick bite. I ordered a marguerita pizza and it was absolutely delicious. I put a ton of garlic salt on it and red peppers too. Hit the spot!

We forgot where the hell we parked the car on a Monday night. All we knew is that we somewhere in Lexington and across a Synagogue. In our frustrating quest to find our wheels we bumped into this place. It was late and the troops were losing steam so my brother suggested a quick bite would improve morale. I couldn’t have agreed more. Mimi has apparently been opened for 50 years or so and it definitely shows in their pizza. I had me a slice of cheese and took it on the run. This turned out to be a mistake because after biting into the slice I was already regretting not having buying another. The pizza was thick with sauce and the cheese melted perfectly to create an amazing bite! It was just what the doctor ordered! Needless to say, IT was invigorating and we found the car, so the night ended on a sweet note indeed. One a side note, the place is also interesting because it ha pizza by the order and a sit down portion for meals. SO you can either grab a slice on the run or have a full blown meal. Sweet!

Honestly, not my style. Mimi’s has a thinnish crust, with lots of sauce and fresh herbs. It’s the type of pizza where you bite into it thinking you’re going to get mostly cheese, and there’s this sneaky abundance of sauce. There’s also a ton of basil, which I think is overpowering. I really prefer a more subtle slice. I like a pureed sauce, and well hidden herbs that become part of the symphony as opposed to being the soloist. I also think Mimi’s lacks a refinement that other pizzerias have. The crust isn’t thin enough. The pepperoni is kind of cafeteria style, and not quite crispy enough. I prefer Italian Village, Little Italy, brand new Pizza Boss, and Rizzo’s for my local Upper East Side pizza needs. And believe me, I am quite needy when it comes to pizza.

Should have known better — a sit-down restaurant with a slice bar attached and both pizzas come from the same oven. First impression sitting down was that it’s one of the restaurants Gordon Ramsey needs to rescue. Outdated décor, informarly dressed staff, ugly and dirty PLASTIC plates. They charge a fair amount for the pizza pies and the prices of the two different sizes of a pie are sneakily hinched up so close to one another, you will go for the bigger pie with the one dollar gap. I paid 23.50 for a veggie pie. All the ingredients came either from a can or the freezer. Therefore none of the pizza had flavor or nutrients. Broccoli, spinach and tomato were tasteless and mushroom the canned version. The serving style was unprofessional and unhygienic. They moved our glasses by holding them from the top of the glass where your lips should go(thank God for straws). When asked for Tabasco, the female waitress tapped the sprinkler part of a chili jar with her long natural nail. When asked to take leftovers home, the male waitress moved the remaining slices to the box with his bare hand. By then decided to give the doggy bag for a homeless person. Bad food, bad staff, highly over-priced. Won’t be coming back.

Not bad but not great — and obviously you can find a better pizza in the city. I agree with one Unilocaler — pretty pricey at $ 4 for a single slice of pizza. So overall from a value perspective, it is an average rating in my book. I ordered simple mozzarella slice — re-heated of course. I scarfed it down as I was hungry but did not find myself satisfied. The Moz was not bad and the crust was pretty good as well. The«quick service» area of the restaurant is somewhat small — but you probably will be able to grab a chair as people seem to be coming in and out a lot. They seem to have a larger sit down area for larger groups — but can’t speak to it as I did not visit. Now, this may be pretty good if you order a full pie fresh and sit down — but this review is purely for the quick single slices…

I was visiting NY from out-of-town and we wanted some legit NY pizza! Everyone at Mimi’s was very nice and were really patient with us although we seriously took forever to decide on the toppings. They didn’t help too much with the options though haha. And once we got there, we found out that Bobby Flay used to work here when he was younger… whaaaat. I love bobby flay! BUT… in this case… bobby flay why would you say this is the best pizza ever. We ordered two cheese pizzas and added our own toppings. I added sausages and mushrooms for mine and my friend added chicken and spinach for his. The pizzas weren’t as thin as I thought they’d be for a NY pizza but it was fine. My mushrooms were literally out of a can though so that was interesting… why not fresh mushrooms? That lost a lot of points for me. For my friend’s pizza, we were surprised that the spinach was chopped so finely and it was basically a spinach mountain on the pizza haha. But overall, the pizzas were just okay. note: the chairs there are split into a self-served area and a waiter-served area. The self-served area is near the front of the restaurant!

Pretty pricey at $ 4 for a single slice of pizza. Not bad, but I don’t think it’s really worth the price. I had a WHITESLICE. The crust was a little thicker and doughier than I would’ve liked from a slice of New York pizza, but still had some fold to it. It would’ve been better if it were thinner and softer. The pizza itself was really good when it was warm. My slice wasn’t freshly made, just reheated. The cheese was flavorful and absolutely amazing, but wasn’t very good once the pizza had cooled down a little. Overall, a pretty solid slice The place itself is pretty small. Not much seating available and definitely no room for big groups.

Why 4-stars from this overly-opiniated, difficult to wow Elite Unilocaler? Because I’ve been coming to Mimi’s for at least the past four years, and have always received the same professional(though never over-the-top OR rude) service, hearty portions, good ingredients, simple menu, no-frills, perfectly hits the spot for easy-peasy-Chuck-E.-cheesy pizzeria and sub shop that I love. Good slices, HUGE subs packed full of awesome, and dough/bread that tastes just like my favorite spot made when I was growing up as a kiddo. For me? Can’t beat them in that area of the city. And I make it a point to stop in and give them business/myself a treat each and every time I’m within a five-block radius. There’s a reason tons of places around them are shutting down/turning over… but they’re still there!
