I would definitely recommend McGettigan’s if you are looking for an after work group function. I had a limited budget for drinks and light food for 15 people in my department. I had contacted a bunch of places in the area and they all had group packages that were unreasonably high. McGettigan’s also had a package that was out of my price range but I explained what I was trying to achieve(basic bar food and drinks) for 2 hours and they were great. They worked within my budget and reserved a great space for us. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was pretty good too. Thanks McGettigan’s

Great big open bar/restaurant/lounge. Has great deals during lunch and happy hours. My only complaint is that the music they play is pretty awful. Was recently in there for happy hour, Bar was filled with men watching sports, and they played Elton John’s «Can you feel the love», Sinead O’Connor«Nothing Compares», and a number of other horrible songs for a bar. Please change the music!

One of my favorite bars in NY! It has a very cool atmosphere. You almost feel like you walked into Oz. Behind the bar, there is a wall full of shelves with bottles. It’s lit up green, giving it a very cool appearance. For seating, this bar has it all. They have comfortable booths, a long bar with bar stools, and pub tables. They also have a great outdoor patio. I really loved that they had a ton of happy hour specials and promotions. You can tell they work hard to keep it interesting there. They also have a large drink and food menu, so you’re guaranteed to find something you’ll like.

Buffalo wings were absolutely delicious. The French onion soup was the best French onion soup I’ve ever tasted in my life. I really wish I was closer to have it. My Caesar salad which was a small was massive! They added bacon and sorta like a poached egg which gave it a phenomenal touch. Will definitely return when in town. The one side is so cute with all the books and décor. Great place.

Visited this Irish pub with a modern twist for Happy Hour table service. $ 5 selected draft. There is a Wednesday night ladies night special. 2 special cocktails for $ 12. We ordered a couple apps to go along with our drinks. The app were tasty and ok to share between two people. The service was friendly and welcoming. There are tv everywhere which is great to watch games. Comfortable seatings for a location on 36 Street between 5th Ave/6th Ave. There are a few hotels located nearby.

Odd place! I expected an Irish pub but it is like a lounge inside. Lots of bright colors and the walls change color constantly. The changing colors were a bit disorienting — esp. once everyone’s faces and appetizers started turning green, blue, red. We had to move away from the wall actually to tone it down a bit. The vibe(as my supervisor put it) was strip club meets sushi lounge. It is pretty spacious which worked since we came here for a work farewell party. Friendly service. My one complaint was when we asked for another drink menu since we had a larger group, the waiter said he’ll check since there weren’t that many. Really? You’re a bar, get some extra drink menus. It wasn’t even crowded or anything. Decent beer/drink selection. Food was better than expected. The calamari was very good and I liked the French Fries a lot as well. Wings were decent. Oh and they do trivia here Tuesday nights!

Came her after a bad experience across the street. Quick and prompt service even though the place was busy. Nice comfy lounge environment and the bar has a great draft selection.

Nice place modern décor and neon. Current music and muted television sets. Variety or seating, I prefer the corner and low ceilings in the what I think of as the library. Huge hamburger, I like the bun„ it stood up to the bacon, cheese, and meat topped by a huge onion ring. Accompanied by perfectly tried French fries. Friendly servers, thanks guys!

It’s a very nice spot-modern…clean and quiet… not too loud and obnoxious and it’s not all cramped inside. Unfortunately I had 3 main issues. 1. The crabby waitress, who didn’t give a care we were there she seemed really annoyed that we even existed… she was short with us and rude. This was the most annoying part of our evening. She set the tone… a crappy one. 2. The pours are small… like really small… I had a vodka on the rocks and it was gone in 2 sips. As written by the owner I know what 2 oz looks like it it wasn’t…making excuses for your poor pours is horrible. That night someone didn’t do it correctly-just accept it. 3. The«fries» are very large undercooked potato wedges… they were raw inside but after the crabby waitress I didn’t dare say a word. I left them on the plate. Would I maybe come here again sure but I’d dodge the mean waitress if I saw her or ask for someone else immefiately… she was rude and unprofessional. I would try a different menu item…

This review is for the bar area. Been to this place few times with the table service, it was great. So I decided to stop for couple drinks with my friend yesterday. My friend got there before I did, he mentioned it took him almost 10 mins to get his first drink. I sat down waiting patiently for the barterders. They gave me a glance but no one said hello or even say I will be right with you. Sat there and still waiting after 15 – 20 mins, I asked if I could order a drink, this bartender didn’t even want to acknowledge me. But oddly enough there were two dudes came and stood behind me and all the sudden the bartender acknowledge them and asking them what they wanted so I sat there being confused on how on earth they got the attention but I was there just sitting right in front of them didn’t even get noticed. Finally I got to order my first drink, guess what after I finished my first drink, took about 15 mins to try to get someone attention so I could order my second drink. I should not have to beg to get the drinks that I am actually paying for but it seems like at this place I do!!! Sad part is the place is very nice but I would never go back. There are plenty of bars to go around in the city where my money will be worth spending!

Food was excellent and the plating was pretty cool looking, it was served on a flat tile looked like slate. The burger I got was gigantic and tasted great, there was a really good tomato purée/salsa on it. beer selection was decent they were out of my first choice(harpoon ipa) but had some good backups. Wife’s southern chicken sandwich was very good too, fries are awesome. Bar atmosphere looked pretty good but we were there for a quick bite before a show. Would go back. Server was OK. Kind’ve quiet and could’ve been a little friendlier but he was timely and attentive.

Had a light lunch of chili nachos. Not terrible but chili was a bit too sweet and I could have done without the slightly brown guacamole topping. Maybe something else will be better.

Very cool, modern theme décor. The walls and ceiling light up and some sections change color. We went in after the Penn State Super Saturday because it was next to our hotel, and we were definitely underdressed for the swanky nightclub atmosphere. When I walked in I realized every other girl was in a club dress and heels. The bartender was not very friendly to us, probably because we were decked out in PSU gear, but the drinks were good.

What! I’m pumped I live so close to Mcgettins! For sure the new go to with many tvs and an awesome lounge vibe. Don’t let the décor fool you– it’s Irish inspired and the food is great. I wish I had come here in the beginning of football season because I defiantly would of been there every Sunday to watch the games, comfortably. We went on a Sunday during the day for some brunch. Our table for the sliders, eggs Benedict, steak sandwich, mushroom bruchetta, calamari, and a chicken wrap. All very good with great presentation. We kept adding people to our group and our server was very accommodating.

Nice, clean interior inside with comfy seating and plenty of big screen TVs. HOWEVER, prices are definitely higher than Keg Room(right across the street) and the staff is very inflexible with where you can sit. I was here on a Sunday night(place was nearly empty) and the staff wouldn’t let me sit in the«reserved» area, which provides clearer audio and an eye-level viewing angle. She said it was«reserved», yet it remained empty as I was watching the game(this started to make me fume). After mediocre beef nachos that were a mess, I decided to abandon and jettison across the street to Keg Room. For me to come back, they need to bring down their prices and let me sit wherever the hell I want. The manager is free to address the points I raised above.

I stopped by on a Friday after work & upon entering I was like whoa … Where exactly am I ?? This place resembles nothing like a typical pub normally does. Definitely has more of a club /lounge feel to it very cool looking, decent music playing & your typical Manhattan crowd. We did our best at getting situated since the place was pretty crowded it was hard finding a place to stand by. Our first round of drinks took a bit of time we got our drinks Stella & Blue Moon, can’t go wrong with beer Jack & Diet was good. I am not too thrilled with this place round took forever & never came now I don’t know who to blame here the management for not hiring enough bartenders or the bartender for acknowledging me & still he kept serving others in front of him ? I really don’t know what to say here he saw me, yet still 10 – 15 minutes later we had no drinks ?? Yes the place was packed & maybe a little patience would be In order on our part but not to the point where it took so long & the bartender just kept helping others before us no matter what direction they came from & we were standing close up by the bar. Drinks took so long that we ended up leaving, paid the check & moved on. Now here is something odd I paid the bill w tip noticed it post to my acct then a day or so later I see the tip amount in pending on it’s own? What the hell ?? Shady not cool the tip eventually did not post but what exactly does this say? Someone is clearly not paying attention while doing their job or trying to pull a fast one on customers? make sure to check your receipts. I wanted to give this place 2 stars but settled on 3 only because of the atmosphere, service was very slow bartenders don’t seem to pay too much attention, price wise it wasn’t bad. Can’t say that I won’t come back but we’ll see what happens next time.

Came here again with coworkers. The servers came over(all at once) and we had a lot of laughs, and chatted a bit. The fish and chips came with EVENLESS fish pieces than was stated in my last review! I asked two different servers if Alan was around and if we could say a few words just to say hi and thank him for his response on Unilocal, and it seems he didn’t really have the time for us, even though he clearly was chatting with other patrons. Too bad. I thought he valued his neighbors’ business. Will think twice next time.

I’m really impressed with the layout of this pub. Looking at it from the outside and going by the name, you would expect a typical bar/pub. It really looks and feels more like a lounge than a pub. I was her a few weeks ago at an elite Unilocal event, where I was able to get a sampling of their menu along with some drinks. I was a big fan of the truffle slider, pork belly and grilled cheese. I look forward to returning.

I’m very happy with the gooseberry in my ice cream. I ordered vanilla ice cream to cure a hangover. Not physically, but mentally cure it. So I turned to the thing that has made me feel better my entire life, And the second I saw it I felt better. Pretty sure it was homemade ice cream and a gooseberry? Nice touch. Never heard of or have seen this berry before but it’s respectable, delicious, and I’m proud of them for serving it to me.

Not what you think– this is an updated«Irish» pub, replete with hot people, great food, and strong drinks. I came here for a Unilocal event and left really impressed. The drinks and the friendly staff are sorta par for the course for a bar. But I didn’t expect the open and modern space and the really good bar food. I didn’t eat dinner prior to coming to McGerttigans but I left this bar very happy(and very full). I could go on, but I’ll just say I can definitely see myself going to this place after work, to catch a game, or just when I want to be around some hottish people. Also– maybe only important for some of us– clean bathrooms! Great find, check it out…

This place is way more than«just another Irish pub.» Fun clubby lighting and lounge seating made this a great place to sit and chit-chat, and the food was really good — not just«for a pub/bar», but period. The wings were just right, the service was speedy and personal, and all of the waitstaff made sure we were well cared-for even in the midst of a big evening rush. Highly recommend.

Went here for rugby union world cup NZ vs. Aussies around brunch time. Keg Room across the street was way too crowded so came here instead, and had a great time. I ordered the eggs benedict, and my two friends ordered the buttermilk pancakes and eggs with sausage. The food was very delicious and fruit came on the side, which was a really nice touch. It’s probably among the best bar food I’ve ever had! And my friend kept raving about his buttermilk pancakes and how he couldn’t believe we were at a bar. Décor is great and modern and lots of large tv screens everywhere. We’ll definitely be back. It’s classy and the price was super reasonable! Also, the folks who work there are so nice!

An easy four stars. Big modern bar, plenty of seating — both at the bar and tables. I was there during Happy Hour and had their house brand ale — which was nice enough and cheap at $ 5.00. Limited selection of beers on tap. For my meal, I had the bangers and mash which were fine. I will go back to try more of the menu. Bartender was friendly, professional.

They serve brunch until 3pm on Sundays, are reasonably priced and hospitable. Very nice seating and great food make this place a winner. They also adjusted a brunch item without me asking at no additional charge when I didn’t want to eat meat products. Very thoughtful. And they have mimosas :)

First of All, The McGettigans ale is dark & delicious! I love this place. The food is Delish the staff is Amazingly friendly and the décor is super cool! Great happy hour… Upstairs fireplace is so cozy for winter and they have live music sometimes! A great midtown addition, not your usual irish bar that’s for sure!

Ok – obviously it’s hard to impress me(but for an Irish pub) this place is totally upscale –atmosphere, sports TV and all(I’m a major football fan-go FALCONS — haha) but it’s like your at ur Irish friends local bar in Dublin — friendliest bartender(Mr. Decklen(sorry 4mispell) and Mr. Micky) are Awesome n sick strong bartenders Door guy(sexy baldy) very welcoming … This place is really posh like in a meat packing district club—(ugh I hope it doesn’t change once they get pop-popular… So rt now this is gong to be my destined sports sexy bar…(As in midtown not too cheap but not ridic — ladies bring a guy– if u know what I mean;))

Found McGettigans while exploring the city with friends. It looked like a fun place and we happened to be just in time for Saturday brunch specials. We were able to sit at the entrance — close enough to have AC but still outside in NYC. The service was fantastic! Both the owner and our waitress stopped by frequently to check on us. The mimosas are only $ 5 and they are on top of refills. I had the salmon plate special and it was excellent. The smoked salmon was fresh, thick cut, and so flavorful. My friends enjoyed a burger on a fresh brioche bun and the fluffiest pancakes. Did I mention that we had mimosas? We had a great time here! Top notch service, a great menu(it was very difficult to chose what to order), and beautiful décor.

I almost don’t want to write this — it’s been so quiet here, I’d hate to see it get«discovered», and then not be cool anymore. Then I remember that I’m a grown man and not a hipster, so here I go. McGettigan’s is what I would call aggressively modern — glass, glow, TVs, a short cocktail list but a long whiskey selection. The prices are Midtown+, a little above the neighborhood average, but that doesn’t affect the rating because that’s life in Murray Hill. Now as far as their cocktails go, I’ve only had the Bramble, one that I wasn’t familiar with. Susan was my bartender and apparently it was the first she’d ever made, though I couldn’t tell from the quality. I thought it was taking a while, until I realized why — she appeared to be chipping ice by hand! That’s how you know McGettigan’s is serious. I stopped in a few nights later for some beers, and the weekend staff, though I didn’t get their names, were as amicable and efficient as their weekday counterparts. So, I’d say this one is worth a visit for a quiet, modern experience… until people catch on, at which point it’s sure to become a raging party.
