Elite Event: McGettigans

McGettigans is one of those pub that stands out, by which I mean, in all green! This was an awesome pub event that even featured a moscow mule, sponsored by Absolut vodka. Drinks flowed freely with beer, wine for those not into the spirit of pub ales. Atypical of pubs, this one has an upstairs event space/​loft that oversees the floor below it. There were definitely several choices of bar/​pub food to pick from but as I recall, every square inch was draped in green color, yes, not one square inch missed, which is evident in every picture everyone has taken at this event. For a wonderful good time, this one is worth a visit with your group. Have a pint or two on me! Thanks to Unilocal NYC and McGettigans for a fabulous good time!

AGYEE (Another Great Unilocal Elite Event)… Thank you Ruggy and crew for an infinitely more fun Wednesday night than we had planned. Also shout out to the wait staff and all the folks at McGettigans who helped put this together.
Anywho I dig this spot. When I heard «Irish» bar I was not expecting such a lavish setup. And basically any event that serves me drinks as soon as I walk up the stairs has already earned my 5-​star review.
That said, I think the highlight was the food. It was really an ambitious set of finger foods, and I think everything was expertly done. They went all out for us Unilocalers and so I ‘m really rooting for this place to do well.
Thanks again and can’t wait until the next outing.

Oh you sweet tender sliders… You haunt my dreams with your moistyness. This event really hit on all cylinders! Moscow Mules?! Oh yes. Good company? Absolutely. I look forward to bringing some friends here next time we want the not-​so-​standard Irish bar. I love the touch of swank this place has. And of course… those freakin sliders!

It’s a spacious area that did not look divey at all. The food was amazing, loved the potato skins, chicken wings, and OMG the sliders were to DIE FOR. I would definitely come back here to host a large birthday gathering/​large group happy hour because there is the capacity for it. The green lighting added to McGettigans’ ambience. Midtown is saturated with bars and lounges, but I would definitely come back to this place!

You can tell it’s going to be a fun night when you have drinks waiting for you on a tray when you’re walking up the stairs to a Unilocal Elite Event. McGettigans definitley nailed this one.
I was feeling a bit under the weather, recovering from a cold. It was nice to talk to fellow Unilocal Eliter Vivian (who’s also a doctor) about some sound advice on nasal spray. but I digress. I enjoyed 2 merlot wines, what better way to fight off illness.
Truth to be told, I didn’t eat all that much. The food was swarmed pretty quickly, but I managed to try a slider or two which were great .I got an unpleasant surprise eating a jalopeneo popper (I hate hot food). I did manage a few chicken wings which were tasty.
The waitresses were friendly, it was nice chatting with a couple of new Unilocalers and some old ones. Great job as usual Ruggy.

More fun times in the land of Unilocal,this time centered at a cool Irish bar in midtown I have not known about before. We had the entire upstairs area and were greeted by a couple of waitresses (Who were working their butts off by the way!) who had beer, wine, and moscow mules waiting for us.
There were a couple of different food spreads out, highlighted by some tasty burger sliders with onions. I also tasted some wings and other unique spreads. As always, a fun little Unilocal get together. Thanks to Ruggy and all the others who put this one together!

Unilocal events are the best events despite even despite some douchebag’s effort.
I had an amazing time at the McGettigans event.
What was there not to like? We were supplied with drinks the whole time. Upon walking up the stairs we were greeted with an array of drinks. Wines, beers, cocktails. They had a good Pinot, some Michelob Ultras, and delicious Moscow Mules.
The food was good bar grub. Some grilled cheese, which hit the spot. The sliders were amazing! They were perfectly juicy and had a great blend of onions. The pork belly was good. The jalopeneo poppers fell flat. Didn’t get a wing (the mob took em all), but my buddy said they were solid.
The event was great, but only marred by the inexcusable behavior of someone’s plus one. People swarmed towards food the second it came out. My friend and I got on the back of the first line and were offered scraps. We saw people take 3 – 4 pieces of things. If you’re that desperate God Bless.
The real kicker came in when some dude, who was a plus one, started demanding more food be given to him. Those waitresses do not deserve to be treated that way. Who did this douchebag think he was? I think he got the heave-​ho. I was embarrassed to even hear about this joker.
Despite all that, I had a great time. It was really appreciated. Thank you to all the staff at McGettigans. Big thanks to Ruggy for a wonderful Wednesday night.

So this is what modern Irish is, modern space with cool green lighting eh you say? Well, I am in… On the first floor there are nice alcoves to play in and hide. Cool, and Ruggy tells me there are locations in Dubai and Singapore also. Sweet.
Great job Ruggy for always getting me above 14^th St., I had a fabulous time!
Nice waitstaff handing out drinks for the whole 2 hours, the highlight was def the Moscow Mule. Well mixed, didn’t taste the alcohol, so be aware.
There was food, but somehow I missed it. For some reason, that happens a lot with me. I guess when you trying to meet 5 new Unilocalers at each event, that is what matters for a social butterfly…
I did end up snagging some jalapeño poppers from some other Unilocalers, and that worked to stave off hunger and drunken debauchery.
Highlight of the evening was meeting Danielle and Jenna, they are cool cats. Here’s to knitting. And thanks Katey for taking pics and partaking in awesome engaging convo! I also enjoyed chatting with the Unilocal Elite twins, Alan and Jon!

What a pleasant surprise! Not your ‘traditional’ Irish pub, that’s for sure! This is a futuristic Irish pub/​club. When I think of an Irish pub, I usually think of a dark, dingy bar with a jukebox and old-​timers. This place was NOTHING like that. The green vibe really made it feel a little club-​esqe, but the bar/​restaurant was large and a really cool place to just hang out.
The staff was all over the drinks, constantly making sure that you were never on empty! (As a true Irish pub should be, right?!) The food was also great! The mini burgers and the potato skins topped my list for favorites, but the cheesy jalapeño poppers and wings were good too!
It was awesome, that it wasn’t an overcrowded event, and it was good to catch up with friends and meet some new elites! Always a good time! Thanks Ruggy & the crew at McGettigans for a successful Wednesday evening! This is definitely the best option for Irish pub in the area!

What a killer event! Copious wine and beer being served around the room, plus cocktails in nifty little metal cups. The potato skins were to die for, and adorned with elaborate sour cream designs. The whole McGettigan’s team was above and beyond hospitable, and the space itself has a cool and vaguely trippy «Emerald
City» vibe with green lightning throughout. The tabletop ads for Tuesday Trivia sounds like a fun time — we’ll be back to check it out!

OMG! This event kicked my butt in less than an hour! McGettigan’s is a modern spin on the traditional Irish Pub. It kept the high quality food and drinks that you’re use to, but with a 21^st Century spin. Three words; Pork Belly Popcorn!
Also on hand at this event, Absolut with their spin on the Moscow Mule! So drinkable. It kicks you in the back of the head when you’re not looking.
