Pizza was was better than I thought it would be. The dough is very flour-y, and it wasn’t too thick or thin. I ordered it with just cheese, arugula, and mushrooms. The ingredients were fresh and he mushrooms had flavor. They don’t have that many topping choices which was a little bit of a bummer. I would give it a 3.5 if I could, it’s not one of my favorites in the area. But it deserves more than 3 stars… If Adrianne’s is closed, I’d definitely order from here again.

Quick service with friendly staff. Stopped by for lunch and had the porcini ravioli which was very delicious. Would love to eat here again if I am in the area.

Worst service experience of my life. The manager would not allow our party of 8 to stay for more than 90 minutes. She told us at the beginning of our meal which was off putting enough. Then she literally stopped us from ordering more because she needed our table. Never experienced anything like it. She deserves to lose her job. Will never go back

One of our favorite neighborhood places. Great homemade pasta and a cozy, romantic setting for a date night. Good menu rotation and have had good luck with their pizzas. But what brings us back is their pastas. When we’re traveling or have been away from good pasta this is our go to place to get us back on track to satisfy our craving. Great wait staff also.

I’m quite in love with Max. I was first exposed to this place through Seamless, when a bunch of us would aggregate our nightly seamless allowance in banking and order family meal. We were always happily surprised at the speed in which food came, as well as the quality: they’ve gotten their operations down to a science. After I left banking, I started craving the delicious food, and came here in person, multiple times. There’s something so special about this place: it feels like a comfortable living room. The service is top notch but unpretentious, the food and wine is reasonably priced, and there’s some kind of homestyle love embedded in the dishes. Get the rigatoni with eggplant as well as the squid ink pasta. We absolutely love the meatballs and the thin crust pizzas are pretty good too. And can’t skip the addicting tiramisu at the end. When I have too many things to deal with after a long week of work that’ll most likely continue into the weekend, sometimes I don’t want to try something new or be in a loud crowded place. Sometimes I just want to be home outside of home.

Great red sauce Italian spot with reasonable prices. Go for the classics here and you’ll be a happy customer!

My friend and I were around the area and decided to pop into Max for a late lunch. It was 2pm on a Friday and we were the only ones in there. We were seated immediately, given menus, and served iced water. Not feeling particularly monstrous since this was actually my second lunch and my friend is on her bride-to-be diet, we decided to order one salad and a pasta to share. While we waited for our food to arrive, we were served complimentary bread. The bread is your typical sliced loaf bread at room temperature served with plain olive oil — nothing exactly exciting. The pasta we ordered was the spaghetti del marinaio, which is squid ink spaghetti with shrimp in a spicy tomato sauce. The tomato sauce was nicely tangy, however I felt that with so much sauce it really overpowered the subtle flavors of the squid ink. The sauce was not spicy at all. We actually had to ask our waiter for some cracked black peppercorn to be sprinkled onto the pasta as well as a side of red pepper flakes. The portion of pasta dish itself was rather generous and there were plenty of shrimps to go around. For the salad we ordered the del pollaio which is grilled chicken, fennel, apple, avocado, celery, tomato, frisee with lemon vinaigrette dressing. The salad served as a great counterbalance to the pasta. It really adds a fresh and lighter component to our lunch. I apologize in advance for being«that person» who posts a picture of some gosh darn salad but it really was much better than I had expected… you know, for a salad. Overall, I think this restaurant has some decent food however I would not go out of my way to come here. Service was attentive and friendly.

I had a lovely lunch at Max this afternoon that has put me into a food coma. Heavy carbs is not a good choice if you want to be productive at work for the rest of the day. Max is not at all packed during the lunch rush hour and there are plenty of tables all around. I’d say it might even be a good spot for a larger group for lunch. My colleagues and I started off with a couple of appetizers: — Truffle fries — not crispy at all, but good flavor and somehow still quite addicting, though they weren’t really that salty and I prefer crispy fries — Pane all Aglio(+ anchovies for an additional $ 4) — the roasted garlic pâté is SUPER strong and garlicky — perfect for garlic lovers, but make sure you have mints handy for sure. Add the anchovies and make sure you don’t plan on kissing anyone for a week. This was delicious, but I can only handle so much garlic(and I loooove garlic). For my main, I ordered the special — spaghetti alle vongole — I pretty much order this or something similar at every Italian restaurant I go to, unfortunately. The spaghetti was al dente and a lovely texture. There were TONS of clams in this dish… I was very surprised. The waiter took away my shells before I could snap a picture. The dish in general was slightly lacking in sodium content… didn’t look like they used much butter/oil which is a good thing! It’s not the best clam pasta I’ve had, but not the worst, either. It was a nice meal, but nothing I would personally call home about. My colleagues seemed to enjoy their spaghetti and ravioli very much.

The food at MAX is fresh reliable and delicious. I have been many times and dishes never disappoint especially the pasta with meatballs and sausage. My last two trips however will be my last two trips. The service has taken a hit big time. Not sure if under new management or what but while the food is four star the attitude is one star. Tonight my spouse ordered a glass of wine took one sip and asked to switch it to another glass. They charged him for both glasses and never told him this would happen. I have asked to change wines in other restaurants a few times and never been charged after one sip. This mirrors my own Max example when I asked for more sauce for my pasta and was horrified to see a $ 4 charge for the extra sauce on the bill. In both cases the manager on duty had an «I could care less attitude». Well now neither do I. Bye Max.

Wow! This place just seems to get better every time I come back. I stumbled upon this place a few years ago while staying in the financial district and have made it a regular haunt every time I come back to Manhattan. This is my favourite restaurant in NYC. The food is absolutely amazing and the service and ambience are top notch. A quaint restaurant the doesn’t look like much from the outside, Max’s has a great friendly atmosphere, great prices, and food that is to die for! My favourite dishes: the fennel salad, breaded chicken on a bed of arugula and tomatoes, the spinach salad with walnuts, pear, and arugula with chicken, and the grilled salmon with spinach and mashed potatoes. If you’re in the area, this restaurant is a must!

This was a staple for me when I lived in Tribeca. The Il Pollo Capriccioso and Lasagna Fatta in Casa were my 2 favorite main courses. The Lasagna comes in a round casserole dish where the red sauce is a bit sweeter than say for the Caprese Chicken. Tomatoes are always fresh and delicious and copious, so we always start with Bruschetta Al Pomodoro. Worth a try if you live in the hood.

There’s nothing better than a good home made lasagne and that’s what brought me here on suggestion from a friend. Don’t get me wrong the lasagne turned out to be worth the seat at the bar(this restaurant is small and cozy so doesn’t seat very many). But you know that mind blown moment you get when you taste a dish that just gives you a feeling you didn’t even think was possible? Yep, that was the mushroom starter for me. Order that, any pasta and salad and you’ll have had a good feed.

In a city with so many good Italian restaurants, I have no idea how this place remains open. I admit there are some positives, the place has a nice ambiance inside and I enjoyed my bottle of wine. For that reason, if you’re looking for a few drinks, not a bad option. My wife and I both ordered pastas, which was the biggest mistake, because both of them came as a solid ball of spaghetti(think large spaghetti meatball). My wife’s pasta sauce was bearable(Spaghetti del Marinaio), but my ragu was inedible. I thought about sending it back, but I had no faith that the next one would have been any better. Overall, you can do much better in the neighbourhood.

My Cousin and I were in Tribeca having drinks on a Wednesday night and got hungry. He used to live in the area and this is one of his favorite Italian spots. Very typical of New York tiny hole in the wall restaurant you don’t even know exist until you walk in front of it. They seated us immediately. We ordered some drinks and a delicious squash soup they had on special. For the main course I got the gnocchi he got the spaghetti. I ate the entire bowl of gnocchi. It certainly did not disappoint! I’m usually a fan of gnocchi with white sauce, with Gorgonzola cheese but this one was different it was with tomato sauce basil and mozzarella. His spaghetti was with lamb Ragu and pecorino Romano. Definitely in a pasta comma when I walked out of there. I would definitely recommend as a great Italian spot if you’re in the Tribeca area.

This is the little engine that could… not. It’s a gorgeous space. The menu is promising, but then the food comes out. My cod was extremely bland. When I complained, i had to explain the issue to 3 different employees. Neither offered a solution. They just shrugged & said«that’s the way it is». Uhhh?! After much insistence, i finally got some fresh garlic to put on the fish. Before i even finished eating, i got the check… as if i was at Applebee’s. Do NOT recommend this place.

Nice atmosphere and décor. Then there’s the food and service. We were seated at our table. Then we wondered when our server would appear for about 10 minutes. When she appeared, she simply asked if we were ready to order. She did not ask if we wanted a drink. She did not offer to explain the specials. So, we ordered a few starters and a salad. When the pasta, mellanzane and salad arrived, we had to ask for parmigiana as if at an Italian restaurant, this is a «special» request. The entrees were OK. The service continued to be poor — somewhere between indifferent and incompetent. We managed to pry more cheese from the servers. I did not like the food. The tomato sauce seemed to be the same for the mellanzane and the pasta. That would be OK if it tasted good but, it didn’t. The bar was pretty nice. The bartender was good. I guess it’s a decent place for a drink but aside from that… I dunno.

They lowered the price of the porcini ravioli! It’s now $ 16. I know that sounds like small potatoes, but it really does make a difference and the dish is just as amazing as ever. The scallions they include brighten up the rich cream sauce and add a nice little crunch. I would skip the spaghetti and meatballs though. The sauce and the meatballs are bland, and the balls are oddly soft, not mushy but they’ve definitely got an odd texture and flavor.

Food was really good here. I had the spicy black squid ink pasta with shrimp(nothing at all was spicy about this dish) and it was very yummy. One friend had the meatloaf, the another the salmon and the 3rd(the birthday girl) had the gnocchi… they all said it was good. reason for the 2 stars was the service… the waitress was horrible. She was literally asking us if we were ready to order every 2−3mins(we were waiting on 1 last friend, but ordered apps and drinks to start while we waited) after we told her we need about 10 mins for entrees. Once we order entrees she was no where to be found, then we received the food minus the gnocchi for the birthday girl… we waited 5−10mins before we asked where it was… waitress said she forgot to put in the order(at least she was honest) and she placed a rush on it(yes, like you rushed us to order but forgot to put a order?! ummm okay!). 45 mins later, still no food. We had all finished by the time it got to us and she did not even bother to offer her a drink or discount or anything to her for her extremely late meal… kinda killed her birthday dinner experience. Customer service is just as important as the food, if not more.

Food: First time here and ordered the Spaghetti Alle Vongole which was spaghetti with clams in a white wine garlic sauce w/extra virgin oil. It was delicious. A large number of small clams. Very flavorful and the small clams had very sweet flesh and cooked just right. The spaghetti was just the right semi hardness and was all completely coated with the sauce. There was a bit of sand in a couple of the clams but that’s something I don’t mind that much. Ambiance: Great place for lunch and romantic dinner. Small dining area with close tables and chair and very cozy. The manager was receptive. Service was good. Will definitely try again when I am in town.

Came in on a Fridate night with the(and I say this lovingly) goof ball. Max is a cozy small restaurant in TriBeCa. Service was excellent. From lady in the front all smiles, to bartender while waiting for our table to our server. Very attentive and helpful. We got the Prosciutto E Mozarella di Bufala for appetizer. It was served with mixed greens and lightly dressed. The Mozarella and Prosciutto was great and can stand on its own. Together and it’s perfect. We shared two pasta dishes the Fettucine Al Sugo Toscano and the Spaghetti del Marinaio. Toscano has homemade fettucini with Max’s meat sauce. I’m Not really big on meat sauces but Max’s was oh so yummy. It has a slight hint of sweetness to it. Very nice on my palate. Marinaio is homemade squid ink spaghetti with shrimp and spicy sauce. Pasta was perfectly cooked and the spicy sauce wasn’t «nose drip» spicy with generous amount of medium sized shrimp. Both pasta dishes are definite hits in my book. Will be coming back again and again and again.
