Does anyone know why this place closed? I go here ALL the time for my «CHOCOLATEBUBBLETEA» fix. Now that it’s CLOSED, I’m at a lost to find a really good place that makes the same quality bubble drink. This SUCKS. Wish they had posted something on the door to say the reason WHY they closed or at least let the customers know if they are going to open someplace new. I’m bummmed!

Stumbled into this coffee shop on a Saturday afternoon looking for a good cup of bubble tea. First of all, I noticed their bubble tea is only 1 size and it is about 50 cents more than Teariffic, which is already a little pricey. I got the half tea/half coffee and my boyfriend got the milk tea with bubble while other friends had their own bubble tea variations. I do like my tea/coffee because it is thick and creamy. However, it was disappointing that they charge me the same price even though I did not have bubbles. What’s even worse is that my friend found a hair in his bubble tea by the time he was half done. When we were about to leave and got the bill, they didn’t even take the drink off the bill. We had to ASK. What a typical Chinatown business. I won’t be coming back again for this hairy business.

With Tearrific right next door, Green Tea Café is going to have to make themselves stand out a little more to get attention. I think that they have no problem doing so with their interesting offering of snacks. I of course ordered a tea with boba. Which they use the paint shaker to make frothy and delicious. But, I completely forgot to order their House Special Toast, that another Unilocal member took a photo of. Instead we just ordered the plain toast with condensed milk. I recommend the coconut or peanut in the future, since they do not have my favorite macha jelly toast. The Salt and Pepper Squid was cooked to perfection and was a huge portion for the price. They also have these amazing dessert dumplings in a sweet black tea with ginger broth. You can choose from sesame or bean fillings. Both are delicious and are a rare find!

***BUYONEGETONEHALFOFF!, SWEET***(Not for take out orders) Not Bad to sit and chill with friends, Spascious, Clean. Drinks are ok. Still sweet, but if you tell them less sugar it would taste even BETTER! Appetizers are not bad, I always get the Steam Edamame to mix with that. Also chicken wings, calamari, fries are good to keep company. Music is mostly chinese, So don’t get bother by that.

I have tried many bubble tea places in Chinatown but Green Tea Café is the best so far. Their tea is good both hot and cold. My favorite is almond milk tea which also tastes like pistachios. One more good thing about this place is that you can stay as long as you want with a cup of tea, you can read a book or chat with your friends as long as you like. They won’t bother you. You can also order some snacks if you feel munchies.

I’m not the biggest fan of boba drinks, but it seems like the rest of the world is. So when friends want boba, this is the one and only place I’ll take them. Like pasta, boba should be cooked al dente; a little resistance to the bite, firm but not hard, chewy but not sticky. Green Tea Café does it right. Their cold drinks/smoothies are a perfect blend of ingredients and flavors. Their warm drinks are heaven on earth. By far my favorite is the warm black sesame followed closely by the almond. But the real secret of why I bring my friends here? Selfish, hidden intentions! All along, while they enjoy their boba, I had intended to satisfy my food cravings. The fried red bean pastries are warm toasty bundles of O-faces. But speaking of toast and O-faces, do NOT skip the thick toast with condensed milk. No, I’m not sharing. Enjoy your boba suckers!

As of Summer 2010, this business is CLOSED. Bubble tea is amazing although the service at times is rather quite slow. I’m a bubble tea fan and this restaurant is on my list. It’s usually quite crowded. On a Saturday or Sunday afternoon when it was very crowded the staff turn away our large party due to lack of seating, but our party has already secured a table in place. It is always filled with youngsters. The seats are your traditional Chinese furniture from the Ming dynasty or even earlier. It’s very Chinese.

I love coming here. Green Tea Café is a popular spot, usually crowded, and pretty fun. Both times I visited during the Lunar New Year and sat in the back. Service is quick but English might not be your server’s first language — the loudness inside complicates things, too — so be patient if you don’t speak Chinese. Besides their signature drinks(which I don’t get, but my friends love), they serve inexpensive, small plates of finger foods(kind of like bar food, but better). We’ve shared some interesting plates, highlights include the tasty-but-strangely-colored magic toast($ 4.75), fried fish balls(4.75), and the deliciously greasy-fried Italian sausage(4.75). Next time I come here, I’m going for the duck tongue with salt & pepper(8.50) — who’s with me?
