I dined at Grape & Vine with my girlfriend for restaurant week. It featured a three course prix fixe for $ 38. I liked the ambiance here very much. It felt like a very intimate speakeasy. Many of the tables had large, u-shaped, red couches which set up those tables well for conversation. The restaurant is very dimly lit which makes it quite romantic when considered with the intimacy of the restaurant. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. I thought the complimentary miso butter for the bread was quite delicious. It established a nice start. For appetizer, I had the foie gras with duck confit. The base of the dish was drizzled with dijon mustard which I felt overpowered the more subtle taste of the foie gras. The dish also came with a few slices of toast which I gladly applied more miso butter to. I had a few spoons of my girlfriend’s potato leek soup which was well balanced between creaminess and lightness. For the main course, I ordered the poached turbot. The turbot was plated over a bed of bulgar salad with raisins, pears, capers, saffron, and honey. This dish was designed to showcase the saffron and honey which excelled. I shared the dish with my girlfriend who ordered the truffle ricotta ravioli with mushrooms. Her dish was rich yet not overly poignant like some truffle dishes are. All in all, the main courses highlighted the greatness of moderation and balance. For dessert, we split the orange zabaglione as well as the pistachio and chocolate semifreddo. Usually, I prefer pistachio and chocolate desserts, but I found myself very impressed by the lightness of the orange zabaglione. I enjoyed the simplicity and consistency of the zabaglione.

Ordered: Potato and leek soup, Truffle ricotta ravioli, and Pistachio and chocolate semifreddo Pros– I tasted my boyfriend’s turbot which was light and poached to perfection. It came with bulgar, golden raisins, Asian pears, capers, almonds, and saffron honey – making a great complexity of savory and sweet. I’m not a fish person typically, but this made me rethink the possibilities of fish entrees. The dessert was lovely! It had a smooth chocolate syrup on top with a semi-frozen vanilla ice cream, bottom layer of chocolate cake, atop pistachio drizzle. Cons– I would’ve liked more crème fraîche in my soup to add to its flavor profile. The ravioli’s ricotta was too heavy and it had the texture of bean paste.

Cute hotel bar that feels a bit undiscovered. Drinks are on the pricey side, but it’s a good place to continue the conversation after dinner.

A nice place, dark enough and it is a bit quiet, could use a little more volume on the music, but otherwise it’s a good spot. There’s not a lot of other places in the immediate area, so good to know about this one. Bartender was good, good crowd, lots of tables

We first visited Grape & Vine for the Halloween party and gladly came back for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. The service was outstanding and we always left the place with a smile. When it comes to the food, chef Kevin Heston and his team really know what they are doing and you can taste their love for food and cooking in every meal. The atmosphere was really nice, too and gave some great evenings a final touch to being perfect. We will definitely come back to Grape & Vine and I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great evening.

Beautiful entrance and dining room. Pleasant and efficient service. Quality of the food was excellent and they were very accommodating on some special requests due to allergy and taste. Overall a great Thanksgiving day with Grape and Vine playing a big part.

I am usually very harsh and strict on my reviews… However I had no complaints at Jade Hotel’s Grape & Vine restaurant. First off the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant is spectacular. I felt as if I was back in the 1940’s in a classy chic hotel. Besides the dark and romantic feel that the Jade Hotel and it’s restaurant present, the food was all very good. My girlfriend and I ordered the Chorizo flat bread with quail eggs, the burger, mac & cheese, and the chicken. All of the dishes were very tasty and the service was spot on. I highly recommend Grape & Vine to anyone, especially since its such a drastic change from the loud and small un-charismatic restaurants that dominate Manhattan. It is also a perfect date night spot for any couple looking for a laid back romantic evening.

Abhorrent service. Zero stars. I would return for the food and wine, but not until they overhaul the staff. It’s a shame, really, since the place has potential.

Liked Grape & Vine a lot. Our reservation was promptly honored, and we were given a quaint upholstered booth. Service was flawless – nice balance of attentiveness without being suffocating. My date had a yummy cheeseburger with delicious fries(I stole a few), and I started with 6 pristine oysters on a bed of rock salt with lemon, mignonette and Tabasco. They were divine – like they had just been pulled from the ocean. I felt the $ 15 price for this appetizer was a very fair deal, given how delightful they were. For my entrée, I had a exquisitely prepared piece of balsamic-poached salmon. I was initially worried about the balsamic, but it perfectly complemented the salmon. Very nice little gem in the East Village. I’d enjoy going back.(It was also fun to spot Laverne Cox of OITNB in the restaurant’s foyer, too!)

Didn’t know this was in a hotel — I normally stay away from hotel restaurants due to the jacked up prices. Loved the cocktails and the burger was DELISH! This was my first time here and there were fruit flies around(4⁄5 fruit flies) — they played a role in our meal and were a pain in the ass. Not much the servers can do. Anyway, loved it and will be back! Eddie Going :)

Very lovely, turn-of-century décor and architecture, with classic NY photos. Food is really good, especially farmers market omelette, lox and bagel platter, and a truly amazing burger.

I came here with a friend during restaurant week. It was fairly empty at 6pm. I sat at the bar and enjoyed half off wine and some delicious bar snacks. When my friend arrived we were seated immediately. The service is definitely 5 stars. So attentive from everyone. The food pairings were delicious and substantial. I had the fish for an entire and the lobster fritters for the appetizer and the profiteroles for dessert. We left happy and full!

Came here to this chic underground haunt and lo and behold, they were having their«Wine Hour», ½ priced wines, champagnes and flatbreads… which are huge and beautifully prepared! The Flatbread with a variety of fancy roasted mushrooms and crème fraîche was outstanding. And they’ve got cozy booths for chatting with a friend, they’ll even serve you cocktails in their subterranean lobby. Our server was always at the ready. This is a wonderful spot… they’re even open for Breakfast(since it’s located in a hotel). 5 Stars all the way!!!

Wonderful, semi-obscure gem with a beautiful bar perfect for dates or events. The food is severely overpriced so we left to go eat elsewhere, but drinks are reasonable and you can marvel at the beautiful design touches, such as the enclosed glass-window roof.

Interesting, quiet, and dark bar in the back of the lobby of the Jade hotel. Service was a bit flummoxed and seated our group at a super tight table when totally empty and was a bit confused when we asked to move to one with more room. The starters were all phenomenal though the main course was a bit disappointing. The flatbreads were absolutely amazing and the oysters were very good, served with little bottles of Tabasco. The barraca was also sublime with amazing fresh cheese. The chicken for two entrée was sadly a bit bland. The skin was crispy and flavor packed, but the flavor didn’t make it into the meat. Again the service was slow with the dessert and disappeared with the take home food for a concerning amount of time. Cocktails from the bar were pretty good but nothing outstanding.

I would consider anything where we’d have to go «downstairs» /«underground» as a rightful description of a speakeasy spot. At Grape and Vine, it is the downstairs bar of a boutique –Jade Hotel. The décor of the place is like that of your old living room, with fireplaces and comfortable couches. The front part of Grape and Vine can serve as a speakeasy lounge. We didn’t venture behind the curtains so I can’t speak much about the food offerings. On the bar menu, they serve a intricately designed scallop dish that I fell in love with(we ended up ordering the same dish twice)! I highly recommend trying out this dish! On a Wednesday night, the lounge is quiet and provided an intimate environment for conversation. I think this is a neat little spot for a date, conducive for talking. There is very little music or even background noise, so I can see how it can be «awkward» for some people, but I loved that it was quiet and I didn’t have to shout in order to be heard. I would definitely come back to this little spot again from time to time. :)

Great atmosphere in the back of the ultra hip Jade Hotel. Creative and consistently good food, along with fantastic and friendly service, make this place a regular stop for me every time I am in town. The manager, Jonathan, is awesome and his style and enthusiasm makes this place rock.
