Unpretentious sit down restaurant with great fried chicken. Cash only and slightly more expensive than one might think for fried chicken and waffles. It may not seem the most common thing to have for dinner but the fried chicken and sweet potato waffles are awesome and the bourbon BBQ sauce is fantastic on the sandwiches.

This place used to be awesome, I was shocked when I realized they were closed, but I am not too upset seeing how my favorite store opened up in its place! They moved to Brooklyn now, and it’s better!

I was walking along 6th Ave and came across this interesting Chicken and Waffle spot. I was seated quickly and given a regular menu and drink menu. The waiter told me the sweet potato waffle was very popular. So I went with it. Well I’m sooooo glad I did! It was AMAZING! I also ordered the cucumber mint lemonade which was very good as well. If you’re in the area, you must check this place out. This review was originally done on 3÷20÷2013. They have since moved to Brooklyn. However, the quality is still the same.

Once upon a time I used to rave about The Pink Tea Cup. That, of course, was when it was situated in their hole-in-the wall location in Greenwich Village. I hated to see The Pink Tea Cup shut down, but in hindsight it probably should’ve stayed that way. Then, Lawrence Page bought the business & it’s gone downhill ever since. He moved The Pink Tea Cup a few blocks away from it’s original location & at that time the restaurant was still good. Not the best. But good. And where the food lacked, the décor made up for. I appreciated the whole Moroccan theme the restaurant had taken on at the time. It made me feel like a discount Carrie Bradshaw whenever I used to eat there. But then that located closed. Sadly, I thought this was the end of The Pink Tea Cup. I had just learned to accept that harsh reality when I walked down 6th&14th and to my surprise The Pink Tea Cup had resurrected. But this time, Mr. Page went all out tacky. The Pink Tea Cup, a restaurant that once was an iconic soul food spot in Greenwich Village, had been ‘rebranded’ w. a horrible Chicken & Waffle logo. From that moment, I realized Mr. Page never really understood the brand of The Pink Tea Cup. For anyone that ever went to The Pink Tea Cup in the Village, you’d know they didn’t have a signature ‘chicken & waffle’ dish. Instead, they were known for their wonderful soul food. Period. I ended up getting a Groupon deal to try one their chicken & waffle dishes and it was mediocre to say the least. I don’t think their prices justified the quality of food they served. Their yams were canned yams, their macaroni – although homemade – was ramshacked w. so much processed cheese & grease. it just wasn’t the quality of soul food you once used to get. Not to mention the time I did visit The Pink Tea Cup, Mr. Page seemed more interested in pretty female diners than actually running his business. I recently passed by the restaurant and noticed a ‘FORSALE’ sign. I think The Pink Tea Cup legacy has finally come to an end. At this point it was long overdue. I hope that Mr. Page doesn’t plan to move The Pink Tea Cup to Harlem and will just leave it be. You’ve failed twice w. this restaurant. Time to give up. Don’t ruin the legacy of this restaurant any longer.

I have visited the pink tea cup on numerous occasions. The last time came here I had the BBQ chicken greens and yams and it was horrible. Unfortunately as the years past the food becomes more disappointing and the authenticity of soul food just isn’t there anymore.

I got hooked on Chicken and Waffles in Oakland, at a famous place called Roscoes. It’s been a few years but I can still remember exactly how the fried chicken tasted there, and how well it complimented the buttermilk pancakes that came with it. Grits were included and another side too, all for a really decent and fair price. Pink Tea Cup is nothing like Roscoes. The chicken was bland and poorly cooked. The waffle tasted store bought, the portion size was ridiculously small, and the price was ridiculously high. Nothing was included with the meal, and a very small side of grits costs $ 6. We also ordered the Bacon Grilled Cheese and that tasted like somebody took a slab of decent back, wrapped it in american cheese and put it between two pieces of wonder bread. And they charged me $ 12 for it. My 8-year old cousin could have made one that was better for $ 1. I won’t be coming back here, not when Hill Country just opened up a new Chicken and Waffles joint on 25th and 5th.

Went here for a grad dinner and I must say I was more than pleased. The environment, servers and co owner were all so nice and welcoming. Since it was a large party, we had a pre-fix dinner menu which I think is awesome. You get more bang for your buck! You get the option of an appetizer, entrée and soft drink. But After that appetizer, you may not be able to get to that entrée. I ordered the bourbon wings which were great. The sauce was sweet so if you are looking for a more smokey taste, it’s not that type of bourbon. For my entrée, I had the bbq ribs, collard greens and mac’n’cheese. Ribs were nice and tender and juicy. Again, the sauce it sweet but I like sweet bbq. The greens were great but didn’t favor the mac n cheese too much but i hold mac n cheese to a certain standard. For drinks, I had the sweet tea which i liked and I had some of the drink(alcoholic) Lemon drop which was the bomb! I recommend going here for lunch or with a large party for dinner with a pre fix menu. All in all, I had a wonderful experience, the hospitality they serve over there is sooooooo great. I live for great service so I will def return, I must try their chicken and waffles with the sweet potato waffle. It smelled orgasmic!!!

I ate at Pink Tea Cup as a later dinner arrival yesterday. The food and service were both very impressive even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded. Perhaps that was due to the earliness in which I met my dinner party. Matter fact, more people began to arrive as we were preparing to leave. Now it’s time to talk about the food. Them(dining partners): Wings, Special Waffles, Smothered Chicken, Macaroni and Cheese Unfortunately, much of the good-looking food I couldn’t partake in(Gluten free, or at least I try to a certain extent; more on that later). The waffles were looked delicious and was said to be good. The macaroni and cheese, looked liked real macaroni and cheese, at least what I consider real macaroni and cheese.(I’m from South Carolina and this stuff looked like what I’ve been eating my entire life from my Grandmother’s house. And not only does she live in SC, she lives in a country part of SC and cooks everything completely from scratch.) The texture and smell seemed to be all of what it should have been. Me: Catfish and Grits Well breaded catfish floured in corn meal with a side of creamy grits that were not to thick or soupy, but just right. There is no need for me to go into detail with this. Yet again I was reminded of a typical fish fry with grits from back home.(Yes I know corn meal has a small amount of flour, but you can’t just turn down fried catfish. I can make exceptions for small amounts of gluten.)

As the saying goes in baseball… three strikes and you’re out. Pink Teacup — this is your third strike and my last visit. I tried one last time to patronize you and experience the culinary delights of past yore. Epic FAIL. Here’s why: 1) For the prices charged, I should not have to deal with dirty utensils(i.e. food caked on that I can see). 2) For the prices charged, I should not have to deal with rickety tables. All of the furniture should be high quality 3) For the prices charged, my food should be made with high quality ingredients. Watered down half and half, processed syrup, and Quaker processed grits should not be a part of the menu. 4) For the prices charged, I should get more food. One waffle, three wings, three pancakes, six shrimp and a bowl of grits should not be a ridiculous price. And then have the nerve to not taste momma-slapping good? Criminal. 5) For the prices charged, I should be able to pay with plastic instead of carrying massive amounts of cash. 6) For the prices charged… well I guess that is an epic fail right there. This food, combined with the flavor, quality, presentation, service, and environment/ambiance is not worth the price charged. All this while trying to entertain my friend and her family from out of town — who clearly was not impressed with the establishment. Ultimately, I can get better chicken, waffles, shrimp, grits, and drinks in a better environment at a better price elsewhere. Good luck Pink Teacup. You’re gonna need it — and you’re not getting it from me.

I had never gone to the original Pink Tea Cup in the village that I heard was snazzy and more refined. I saw pictures of the old place so when I came here I could see the stark contrast. Average décor: there is a lot of potential but the place is a little rough around the edges. Our group of ten was seated upstairs at this oversized exposed wood dining table. Average service: They need to hire more people! Our server was a sweetheart but she needed help. There were so many things that were haphazard about the service, but she kept up as much as she could. Above average food: Since it is lent I had the Catfish and Waffle with a side of two eggs fried. Although we were there for brunch I had to order the Catfish off of the Dinner menu ;-(I was hungry so don’t judge my portions. The Catfish was really good. it tasted do good. The Mimosa was cute they had a red tip at the bottom of the margarita glasses. Pink Tea Cup is a cool casual Brunch spot.

I came here with my friend and we used our groupon of two chicken and waffle dinners with two drinks. Based on Unilocal reviews I was expecting a rinky dink hole in the wall spot. The place wasnt run down or dirty at all. The décor was okay and could use an upgrade but not as bad as some of the reviews make it out. We had a great time at this spot and the staff were superfriendly. It’s a small restaurant with tight seating and they could really use additional wait staff. My friend and I sat at the bar and chilled with our server/bartender Hermice who was truly a sweetheart. We laughed ate and drink and had a grand old time. Now to the food, I ate every last piece of the chicken and waffles on my plate. I had the smothered chicken and thought I was in my mother’s kitchen. It was delicous. My friend had the regular friend chicken that she loved. I also had the strawberry drink that was a bit sweet. My alcoholic friend(LOL) had the pink mojito that I tried and it was okay, too strong for me. She also had three glasses of champagne with strawberries. They only take cash and they have an ATM available for your convenience. They had an Out of Order sign on their bathroom but the bathroom did work. The bathroom was very clean and I saw no problems. I will defintely return and enjoy some of that great food and amazing old skool R&B music.

Bought a Groupon for two chicken and waffle entrees with two drinks . Food: GREAT. The chicken was flavorful, very good batter. I had a chocolate chip waffle with dark meat chicken and husband had the pecan waffle with white meat chicken. Both pieces of chicken were equally as good. It wasn’t fried too much, where it was hard, instead it was really flavorful and tender. The waffles were great; fluffy and thick waffles. The chocolate chip was definitely better than the pecan, as the pecan didn’t have any pecans! :(We give the chicken and waffles a 10 out of 10. Then we went for a side order of Mac n’ Cheese, it was oily but really good as well. Ambiance/Décor: TERRIBLE. It’s tacky, cheap and ugly. They NEED to get their act together and do a better job. The place is dirty and gross. There is ONE bathroom and it is just disgusting. Seriously. I understand that it’s not a 5-Star place but the pizzerias in NYC are cleaner than this place. Plastic menus… all really cheap. Terrible. Haha Staff: The waitress was a bit of a novice. She wasn’t a good salesperson, couldn’t really help with our decision on the waffles, didn’t know the groupon, forgot the order, didn’t check up on us… she really seemed like she was all over the place and it was her first day. Haha However, when we were ready to leave one of the Chefs/Owners walked up to us and introduced himself… we talked for a bit and it was nice. TIPS: Yes, they ONLY accept Cash! There is an ATM inside, so you don’t have to worry. Don’t expect much… go inhale some food then go home. You will be happy. PS I think I liked it better than Roscoe’s … husband likes Roscoe’s better. It’s a tie. :)

Bought a groupon for this place based on the food offered and the name(I Pink). I told the hostess this as soon as I walked in and she had no clue what I was talking about. Huh? I had I explain to her what it was. She went to another waitress and confirmed that«it was ok to use it.» duh! I paid for it! Anyway, the place was pretty crowded for a Thursday night. My Daughter & I ordered our waffles and chicken. She got chocolate chip and I chose plain waffles. The first waitress bring out a plate and tries to give it to me daughter. We let her know that my daughter ordered chocolate chip. She’s like«are you sure?» & stood there trying to give my daughter the wrong food. Finally another waiter came over and told her she had brought it to the wrong table. Duh! She comes out 10 minutes later with blueberry waffles and tries to give it to me daughter. Again we let her know she ordered chocolate chip. She takes the plate back. 5 minutes later another waiter comes out with the same blueberry waffles. We tell him she ordered chocolate chip and he tells us that is chocolate chip. We had to literally cut open the waffles and show him that it indeed was not. Smh. When I asked for the bill i was told the groupon does not cover chicken breasts and that was be $ 4 extra. That annoyed me because i only had $ 10 cash on me and they don’t take cards. That would be my only real complaint. The food was good. Atmosphere was decent. They were playing old Motown hits which I enjoyed. I’d go back.

How does one rate a $ 19.50 fried chicken plate with a single piece of chicken?(Big, but sure not $ 19.50 big.) It was juicy, and the skin was decent, but no better than the chicken you’d get anywhere else. I should note that I got the more expensive white meat; the regular version is $ 18. Unlike at most places, mac and cheese isn’t a regular side but a $ 5 a la carte item, so I opted for potato salad and collard greens. The potato salad was decent — was that mustard? Greens were o.k. but weren’t as meaty as hoped since the menu mentioned they were made with turkey. If you have a small appetite and big wallet you’ll do o.k. here but you’re better off walking 15 minutes to Hill Country Chicken.

Okay my boyfriend and I had passed by Pink Tea Cup a few times but never went in. My boyfriend found a groupon for this place and was thinking why not since it’s chicken and waffle kinda place. I never had chicken and waffles… EVER!!! so my standards isn’t THAT high but I really expected it to be good. Well…SORRY folk I was disappointed! Okay all together my boyfriend and I got an order of bourbon chicken wings,(me) chicken and blueberry waffle,(bf) pork chops and chocolate waffle, I got a green tea(instant –_– and paid two dollars for it… seriously I could go to 7⁄11 for better) and my boyfriend got the sweet tea. We were given out drinks first, there were a few selection of teas(FYI no Earl Grey– picked green tea) and it was instant… not even fully infused when it came out btw. The sweet tea my boyfriend like it but I had a sip — wasn’t impressed. Like I didn’t feel that WOW it’s GREAT! soo… that’s the tea. When the waffle and chicken/pork chop came out I was like YAY!!! food! SO I DUGIT!!! umm… at first I was like mmm… okay the waffle is pretty good I guess but once again not that WOWSOGOOODDDD and DIEDANDGONETOHEAVEN kinda feel. but after like two-three bites I’m like… ohh okay… The chicken was SUUUPPPERRR dry and not cause it’s white meat I had white meat before and it’s never this dry! The skin was salty as well!!! I couldn’t finish my chicken but I managed to finished the waffle. My boyfriend’s pork chop was so small and it’s like 2 $ more sooo thought it would be better HA! what a joke(sorry I’m just really disappointed) For the service: Our waitress was… kinda nice? well I mean she was but she rarely came over to out table. The place isn’t that packed it’s almost empty… so idk I won’t wanna come back cause I’m sure there are other places that has better chicken and waffles. So for my first chicken and waffle it was a fail. But that’s just me

My sister constantly raves about this place, so I have been anxious to try it for a while. Rus and I recently visited for dinner. The place was pretty empty, the bathroom was out-of-order and I kind of felt like it was just not clean enough for my standards. You know how some places just have a really«sticky» feeling about them? Pink Tea Cup really gave me that vibe. The service was spot on. The waitress really got our banter, didn’t crowd us but was very attentive. I was torn between the crab cake sliders and the bourbon wings… But they were out of the sliders… WINGSITIS! Rusty got the fried chicken with the strawberry waffle. We also had the strawberry lemonade(made to order). The beverage was great. Not too sweet. I loved it. On to the food. It was out relatively quickly. My wings were very sweet. Nice and crunchy. Big wings. Definitely a good appetizer to share with others. I bet the crab cakes would have been better though. Darn. Russell’s waffle was so tasty! I really wish I had gotten my own. It was the perfect texture. Little bit of a crunch on the outside, nice and fluffy interior. The fried chicken looked crunchy on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside. I don’t know if I would want to order in again. Even though the service was good, again, it was kind of dark and dank inside for some reason? I would love to get my own waffle though, or to try the brunch menu. I may give them another try… BEWARE! They don’t take credit cards, but they do have an ATM.

My friend and I came here for dinner tonight, wanting to try their chicken and waffles. Our waitress was new, but very sweet, and we were happy with the attention she paid our table. The drawbacks to the place are the shabby interior(probably intentional) and the very high cost of the food(I ordered iced tea, got one refill, and got charged $ 4 each — apparently they don’t offer free refills on any drink — only on coffee, I found out later). I ordered southern fried chicken — which came with a wing, and a leg/thigh, plus two sides(I chose cole slaw and fries). The sides were pretty meh, but the chicken was juicy and tasty. The fries could have been cooked more, and the cole slaw was a little too mayonnaisy for my taste. My friend ordered the chicken with waffles, and it came with no sides. I’m not sure I’d be back any time soon, simply because a regular weeknight dinner for 2 people at $ 60 was a bit much. Throw in free soda refills, and improve the décor and maybe I’ll be back. But keep that waitress, she was great.

OMG! The Pink Tea cup is back! It is now located on 14th Street and 6th Avenue. It is a two floor establishment, but being that it just opened, the upper dining area was not yet open. There is a hot pink covered counter, with spinning stools that are covered in baby pink. There are plenty of single/small tables and some larger tables in the front by the window. I see they don’t have alcoholic beverages yet. There is even a vintage cigarette machine for decoration and a signed picture of Elvis. There is a flat screen television and when I went Food Network was on and Ben E. King’s «Stand by Me» was also playing in the background. Definitely my kinda place! I had the chicken-n-waffles special and when it came my mouth dropped open. You can get either the dark or white meat on a plain or sweet potato waffle. My fried chicken came on the side of the waffle, which was dusted with a coating of confectioner’s sugar. I quickly doused by chicken and waffles in syrup and savored each bite. The chicken was fried to perfection. It was nicely seasoned and as contrast to the syrup, it is a great combination of salty and sweet, with the soft texture of the waffle. I had the white meat and the chicken was moist and delicious. I liked to get a taste of the chicken with waffle and syrup all in one yummy bite. Oh so good! The coating on the chicken was thin and fried just right. I didn’t taste greasy, just some good tasting fried chicken with fluffy waffles. It’s a matter of fact, it was so good I couldn’t stop eating. The workers here are friendly and nice. I had a real sweetheart of a waiter! I would definitely come back to try some more and also test out the sweet potato waffle. They served breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast you can get the chicken & waffles too and other flavored waffles or pancakes and French toast. I see they also have fried green tomatoes and fish-n-grits. The Pink tea cup is definitely my cup of tea!
