I hate this place. Everything is an upcharge. For example, I got the buffalo chicken press. It came with pepper jack cheese. I asked for blue cheese crumbles instead…$ 1.50 up charge. Then, when I got to the office and started eating, I realize they didn’t put the blue cheese dressing that was supposed to come with the sandwich on it. Disappointing. Want to switch out the bacon and substitute tomatoes? Upcharge.(Even though tomatoes are cheaper than bacon.) They give you tiny hard pita instead of bread. And the cashier gives you attitude. Avoid.

I order here daily. So many great sandwiches that they offer. I’m always satisfied. They also have a great signature salad which goes well with any dress they have on their list. The only thing I didn’t like was their meatballs. They were burnt and looked a couple days old. That’s the only thing I’d stay away from. Other than that everything else is on their menu is top notch.

To keep this short and sweet it’s just an overpriced bodega. I got a egg, cheese, and turkey bacon on a roll and paid nearly $ 7 when the same thing at Deb’s across the street is $ 3.50 This place is akin to Whole Foods… completely overpriced«healthy» food

I’m so done with this place. Never again. Every meal starts with a promise and then ends in discomfort, disgust and regret. Don’t trust anything including the salads, sammies, or pasta. You have been warned.

Watch out for the salad prices. The same salad I order on Seamless for $ 11.00 magically turns into $ 13.50 when I go in person. I don’t think they’re overcharging on purpose, I think they’re trying to move too quickly to do the math properly in their head, so you have to double check them and know how much your salad is going to cost before you go in there to protect your wallet.

Pretty good shakes here, had the berry blast, that’s the blueberry_mango_banana one and it was very tasty. Also the huge lion in the middle of the store is eye catching. The servers were very friendly and made the trip worthwhile

I’ve had plenty of experience eating at Getting Hungry. For 7 years I’ve ordered both individual meals and catering for work events. Their menu is plentiful but pretty organized. Salads, sandwiches, pastas and burgers are your options in this West Village establishment. Their pasta dishes are hearty and delicious but can be just a bit salty. Their salads are diverse(you can build whatever your little heart desires) and are usually very crisp, flavorful and filling. Getting Hungry’s grill items are ok because it’s not their specialty. Their Salmon Burger stands out the most. This place is expensive so get ready to pay almost $ 15 for lunch. Overall it’s a good, fast and friendly place that caters to local business first, then everyone else.

This is a great lunch spot! The lines move quickly and they have a very extensive selection of food. But, to echo many other reviews posted prior to mine– these guys do NOT skimp on the prices. For example, I usually grab a pasta with a couple condiments and a water, soda, whatever– it usually comes out to be around $ 10.50. It also makes taking a hike to one of the pizza places across the street that much more appealing! The people that work here are very nice and all smiles. Lunch time they’re a bit more rushed, so that’s understandable. The food is of good quality and the restaurant is pretty spacious. Doesn’t hurt that there’s some random lion statue sitting in the place too.

I’d give them 5 stars, but they are on the pricy side for a deli place. That said, it’s a really great idea. One side is smoothies, juices, protein drinks. The other is a little café/deli. They make really great breakfast sandwiches, have good choices on desserts and sweets and lots of items to grab and go out of a chilled case. Don’t let the outside fool you, the inside is huge! My favorite item is an eggwhite wrap for breakfast. They use any ingredients you want and put it in a wheat wrap. It’s delicious and filling.

Pretty expensive for the amount you get. Ordered a sandwich and the family got pitas and salads. Food was tasty and service was pretty good. Inside of the restaurant needed a bit of cleaning, but it wasn’t bad. There are other, cheaper places nearby that I’ll probably visit first before going back here.

I ordered a salad and after waiting 45 minutes to get it I find a couple pieces of lettuce and a pile of croutons. Never going back.

Food can be very pricey and you have to watch out for the ladies that work at cash register they try to move fast to get everyone out but always give the wrong change back! To be honest I think they are being slick but I don’t want to jump to conclusions so be careful!

Ok… This place is expensive. OK… there are a bunch of places in the area that serve similar items. This review is for the staff. I walked into getting hungry mid day to grap a bagel and some hot water with lemon. As I am waiting, I noticed the staff and one of the owners talking to a customer. They were asking how he was doing, etc. Where was so and so, etc. I looked up and noticed that the customer was a gentleman with special needs. The staff were inquiring about two dolls he carried with him. When the man went to sit at one of the tables the owner said to me: «He comes in every day; he is like family to us.» She went on about him and how happy she was to see him everyday. She said he only gets coffee and he was a sweetheart. I was very touched by this because it was very nice to see the genuine care they had for this man. In a city where people are usually crass and mean to others they deem different it was a refreshing display. So that being said, If other places basically have the same foods for similar prices… the people at getting hungry have given me that extra push to spend my money with them.

Getting Hungry is the single best lunch stop in the area, I make the walk a couple blocks to come here specifically. Sandwiches, pastas, salads, soups… They do it all. Starting with the sandwiches, they have a large menu that you can order by number I you can order a la carte. They have a ton of options… Breads, meats, toppings, sauces… Make it how you like it. Personally, I get the roast beef(which is awesome and rare always) on a hero with horseradish, cheddar, bacon, mayo, and lettuce, and when you get a sandwich, you have literally a hundred different type of chips to choose from! The pasta bar is great, and something you can’t find everywhere else. Pick your pasta, your sauce, and your fixings, and make it your own! Fettuccinni Alfredo with broccoli and mushrooms is my go to, although if I’m feeling red sauce I like sausage, peppers, and onions. Cooked to order, and cooked to amaze! There are a few soups per day, I think something like four to six to choose from. They’re all great… Cream of Mushroom and Broccoli and Cheese are my favorites, honestly I haven’t had the others since those are so good. And of course, there are salads… Lots of toppings, chopped if you wish, and cheaper than any other places in the area. You can make a great salad for under $ 10, which is more than you can say for most other lunch spots in the area. Rumor has it this is also the place to be for breakfast, but I haven’t ventured over since I’m usually running late as is! But I will try it someday, this I vow! If you go anywhere else for lunch… You’re being a fool. Go to Getting Hungry or you’ll stay hungry.

Dope lion statue The wheat/7-grain bread is awesome (Had a really good roast beef sandwich #5!) And at $ 6.95 + tax, not a bad deal! But then, I had a coffee. An iced latte to be exact. And it all went downhill from there. It was basically just a cup full of ice with coffee poured and a miniscule amount of milk. So when I went back to the lady to ask her to remove some ice and add some milk, I basically ended up with an iced coffee. They didn’t have whip cream either. I had such high hopes, because it does look awesome that they also have a smoothie bar there too. I’ll pass on the cup of ice with a weee bit off coffee, which the girl explained to me was the way they do it! Ha!.

This is my favorite spot for lunch during the week(office is nearby). I often think about trekking over there on the weekends, as their sandwiches are so good, it’s insane. I get cravings for them. Anything on the 7-grade bread with smoked turkey(Boar’s Head, I think) will change your life. I’ll echo the other praise on this page for the Stock Exchange! I get it… at least twice a week. Their coffee is also great — the cappachino was made with much more love(«Would you like a sprinkle of cinnamon?») than those I usually get from Starbucks. I LOVEGETTINGHUNGRY! (We’ve also had them cater several meetings [both breakfast and lunch] and they’re always prompt and accommodating).

Cute breakfast spot. Breakfast Wraps are pretty tiny and not cheap but they are tasty. wasn’t a fan of the coffee here either. Really enjoy the ambiance thou, its a nice break from the usual starbucks, places to sit, and a dope lion statue in the middle.

Stopped in for a quick coffee before a client meeting, they were already getting ready to close up shop at 4pm. Coffee was fairly priced, strong and hot. Couldn’t ask for more. Very cool lion statue!

Kind of expensive but fresh salads and made-to-order sandwiches. A really popular spot around Tribeca/Soho for work lunch. It just feels healthier. It’s my fault I add the expensive add-ins(bacon, avocado). But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Consistent lunch place. Three stars is accurate. If you don’t work down here this isn’t a place to seek out for lunch. However, they did introduce me to my new favorite addiction: kale, spinach, mango fruit juice. Delicious and well worth it.
