The 2 slices and a drink deal for $ 5.50 is great. However I wouldn’t stray too far from that. I decided to get an order of fries one night, they came balled up in foil instead of any sort of plate, very odd.

Terrible delivery service ever! My boyfriend and I wanted to try something different than our usual pizza from Famous Famiglia or Antika, so we ordered pizza and other things from George’s through Grubhub and it was disaster! We ordered a personal pepperoni pizza, one cheese calzone, one order of zeppoli and 6-pcs garlic knots. And shortly after food was delivered, and here’s what we got; A personal pizza without pepperoni, and a cheese calzone! That was it. So I called the restaurant and told them two items are missing, and he said he will call the delivery guy to bring them right away. So we waited, and a delivery guy came with grin face and handed over a paper bag and left. What was inside that paper bag? 6-pcs garlic knots. No zeppolis again. We were about to call them again, but we didn’t. Food? 2.5stars. Delivery? I think they are the one who made most mistake than any other restaurants in this area. Never go back!

Food was okay but I wasn’t impressed with the new owner. George, the original owner, was always working hard and kept the place clean. The new owner was just lacking on service and came off very rude. We got the gyros which were fine. Will only come back if all other options are not available.

The pizza here is amazing and the prices are great! :) Try the gyro sandwich. It is amazing, delicious, and really hits the spot for those lamb cravings! :) Enjoy!

This used to be great pizza, a neighborhood staple. Now, it’s just greasy, sloppy mess. The gyros which used to be the stuff meals were made of, just no longer cuts it

Oh greasy pizza, how delicious you are! Its pizza people — cheese sauce and dough. — expect it to be fattening and very unhealthy but like I said… it’s pizza!!! I think George makes the best pizza in this neighborhood. However that is my opinion and everyone is different. It doesn’t hurt to give it a try! It really isn’t bad pizza. If you like it awesome and if not then there are several dozen other places in Washington Heights that make pizza. George, your pizza and garlic knots are amazing. You will always have me as a customer — and also my husband who has been eating your pizza since he was in elementary school and introduced me to your spot :)

Upper Manhattan(especially the Washington Heights area around GW bridge on 181st street) seriously lacks affordable food options. It’s basically a food desert with fast-food joints being your only options(no wonder obesity is high in this part of town!!) Regardless of what part of town I’m at, if there’s not too much food options for a quick bite, I always search on for the closest place that sells pizzas by the slice. So I search on Unilocal and this place pops up so decided to head in and try this place out. Place is not big, only a few chairs and table and a bit dingy. I asked the guy behind the counter how much it was per slice and he said $ 2/slice for plain, I was kind of bothered at first. They looked exactly like the dollar slices you see around the city. But after careful examination, saw that the pizza slices had a thick crust… sort of like Artichoke Basille type of Pizza and they were indeed HUGE. Probably the only thing that sets them apart from the dollar slices you see around the city is that here is the thick crust and that each slice comes with a Free(?) Garlic Knot(See my picture for reference) which was different. A downside might be that the slices were pre-made and they will heat it up for you when you order one. But the slices are pretty tasty and George is a friendly guy but some days there is and some days there isn’t a garlic knot that comes with your pizza so it’s kinda inconsistent CASH-ONLY!!!

The pizza is alright, nothing special. I order the large one, the box seemed like someone sat on it and when I opened it, the cheese was stuck to the box. I didn’t really like that at all. SMH.

Opinions vary, but if you like your round pizza on the thick side(like I do, though I also like a paper thin brick oven style) you will love George’s. Crappy looking, both inside and out it is one of my NYC favorites. I ONLY get a full pie(I’m not a slice kind of Guy, even if I am flying solo) so I can’t comment about what you get as a reheated slice, but the pies are masterful and tied up to go with traditional bakery string around the box. At 13.00 for a large pizza, you can’t go wrong!

I think the reviews from the VV were dated around the same time the guy last washed his hands. Not to be mean, but it is very dingy and the pizza is simply horrible. If people think this is pizza, then I really feel bad for you. Just because the guy is Italian doesn’t automatically make it good pizza. I would(and it pains me to say this out loud) go to Domino’s before I go here again. yuk

Okay, so I ate a lot of pizza in this neighborhood growing up but it was the best option since it was always cheaper and filled with less old people than the McDonald’s on 181st. I’ve been coming here for years and the pizza was rarely a disappointment. However, the last few times that I’ve been here have been awful. I’m glad I have a much better pizza place on St. Nick that’s also closer. Overall the slices are still a great size but it just lacks flavor. It’s actually really gross now :-(

I love george’s. When you want that slice that hits the spot, this is the place to come to. Sometimes inconsistent but most days when its good its really good. And if you come late enough sometimes he adds a free garlic knot on top of your pizza. Great neighborhood slice.

I moved to into my very big and very cheap apartment in Washington Heights back in May. Moving meant spending time trapped indoors in a hot apartment with my parents assembling furniture… let’s just say by dinner time it had been a long day. We had no idea what was around the neighborhood to eat; we just knew we were hungry. My haughty, desperate parents looked at me and uttered the worst 6 words I’d heard all day: «You live here. Figure it out.» So I Googled«pizza» on my Blackberry and George’s was the first number that came up. So I called, ordered a large pie, and hoped for the best. I was not disappointed! The pizza was fresh and hot, delivery took around 10 minutes, and it was a very reasonably priced large pie. I’d say in my experience of ordering George’s getting a whole pie delivered has been exponentially better than any time I’ve ordered slices to go or eaten in. Before I’d tried Exclusive, I thought George’s was the best pizza in WaHi. I like the texture and thickness of the crust and the sweetness of the sauce. I also like that once in a while he throws in a couple free garlic knots with your order. On the other hand, the cheese is kind of bland and the pizza loses a lot of its appeal once it’s not piping hot anymore. Given the other options for pizza/food in general in the area George’s is consistently OK, and you really can’t fault it for that.
