I took my favorite pescatarian here for a low-key birthday dinner and everything was delicious. They had us at the bread, which was soft and warm, and baked with spinach and cheese. Standard fish shack fare — the mussels, fish tacos, and salmon burger did not disappoint. The waiter said this is is a new menu. All in al, a fun venue with great food, cocktails — perfect for a low key celebration.

I came to this place earlier this year, sat upstairs at BLT Fish and absolutely loved it. Then I came back tonight to celebrate a promotion and couldn’t believe how this place has devolved. They closed Fish for private parties only, and you have to eat at the Shack, which is downstairs. The downstairs is laughable. It started with a terrible cocktail. My fish(the sea bass, which was recommended) was so dry and plated haphazardly. Normally I wouldn’t I care about this… except I paid $ 25 for it. I expect great plating and nice sides. My husband got lobster and filet mignon for $ 50. It was about a 3-ounce cut. It was overcooked and looked like my 17-year-old cousin threw it on a plate. I give it two stars because they oysters were nice. Maybe because they didn’t require cooking. What a sad fall from grace. I’ll never come here again.

This place went downhill. The décor is dated. The service was poor. It took some time to get a Waiter to come to the table for the first drink. I asked the waiter about some of the menu items and he answered unenthusiastic and not very helpful. The linguine and clams were so salty I could not finish it. When I told the Waite and manager they gave an apology but offered nothing in return(asked that I come back one day for a drink) The fish and chips were mediocre. I wanted a second glass of wine but could locate the waiter, and never got it. This will be my last visit.

J and I came here to have one drink before going to Raine’s Law Room — I can’t remember what I had, but it was good. It was tequila based and J got a beer. Bartender was nice. I ate here with D a long time ago, not sure where my review went.

Ive been coming here since I moved to NYC ten years ago, the upstairs dining room is a completely different vibe than the fish shack downstairs, I prefer upstairs, the fish shack is very casual, upstairs is a bit dressy but not at all stuffy. This place has been host to birthdays, anniversaries, and I think two or maybe even three new years eve dinners for me. Seafood is readily available in NYC but the options here are always fresh and tend to be a little more exotic than your standard Grilled whatever, while that is available if you want it. For starters you have a really beautiful space, far nicer than some of the others in the chain, BLT Prime, or BLT steak,(that’s not a knock on those other places just my opinion that Fish is a nicer atmosphere), The staff from the host/hostess to the waiters are all very attentive and friendly. Let’s see,… food… starters; Tuna Tartare is always a favorite, not to mention the Scallop crudo. Entrée wise my favorite is the Belgian Dover Sole capers, soy-brown butter, followed closely by Alaskan Halibut asparagus, sorrel, warm mussel vinaigrette. My one complaint is that they used to have a Swordfish dish on the menu that is no longer available but you cant have everything now can you?. Just a really nice place, I do not ever think I’ve left unsatisfied in the almost 10 years I’ve been going there.

I’ve eaten at the Fish Shack downstairs and the finer dining upstairs several times. I’ve always found everything to of great quality and taste. More recently, I dined here with 11 other colleagues and we ordered almost everything on the menu. I wasn’t a huge fan of the veggie side dishes but the amouse bouche came out in tiny mason jars with mini spoons for you to scoop. The seafood tower($ 150) presented a beautiful assortment of crab, lobster tail, oysters, clams, etc. At the end you get a little bag of cotton candy to take home! The service was a bit spotty. I think they were using our large reservation as a training opportunity because the servers didn’t know which wine glasses to bring out so they brought out 3 glasses, took away two then replaced that with another two — most likely with the same exact 2 they took away. Regardless my group had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the food at BLT Fish.

Food is amazing!!! Especially that big fish baked inside of bread! But it’s so empty there. You should go on the 2 floor. Because first floor it’s not real blt. My friend didn’t know about 2 floor and was not satisfied with 1.

If you’re ready to splurge a little on seafood, BLT Fish would be a great choice. It’s nicely located at the cross section of fine and casual dining, with great food and service but a very relaxed atmosphere. And yes, the prices are indeed steeper than some of the comparable seafood options around the city, but it’s all a part of the experience that you pay for. The first item they bring out as an amuse bouche that is slightly forgettable, but only because it’s followed up some phenomenal cheddar and chive biscuits. Easily some of the best biscuits I’ve ever tasted, they’re accompanied by an indulgent honey butter that just melts in your mouth. They even provide a little stamp-sized note card with the recipe for the biscuits should you desire to recreate them at home, but I would think it would take a while to match the technical baking precision they’ve mastered here in the kitchen. For starters, the Petite Plateau is a great(and not so petite) sampler of oysters, mussels, clams, shrimp, lobster tail, scallops, crab meat, and tartare. I personally found all to be great, with the raw scallops as surprising standout. While I enjoyed the tatrare very much, my date found it slightly creamy for her taste. Her loss, because that just means more for me. Our server recommended sharing the Red Snapper entrée which absolutely exceeded my expectations. When the snapper is ready, they bring out a tray with the entire mouthwatering fish for you to see at before they take it back to the kitchen and filet it into perfect portions. The snapper has a strong Asian fusion flair with a little bit of sweetness and just a hint of a kick. The fish is prepared beautifully with the skin nice and crispy while the meat is moist and flavorful. The dish is garnished with a healthy portion of vegetables that includes cabbage, carrots and shiitake mushrooms which go a long way in binding together a very cohesive plate. And the quantity served is very generous as well so I wouldn’t worry about going home hungry. While we didn’t order dessert, the meal was rounded off with complimentary chocolates and cotton candy, which is a nice little creative touch. I’d be amiss if I didn’t mention the expansive wine list. I am firmly against the belief that seafood can only be paired with white wine so I’m quite satisfied that the selection of reds is about as broad as the selection of whites. While the $ 3,800 Burgundy is probably slightly outside my budget, there are plenty of options that are under $ 100 or between $ 100 – 200 depending on your flexibility. BLT Fish is a great restaurant and the price you pay is certainly worth the experience. Other locations may provide the same quality of food for a lower price point, but as a singular dining experience, it’s pretty difficult to top.

This is a nice place, good for a date or special occasion, but the food leaves a little something to be desired. We got the steamed bass for two, it seemed to lack a bit of flavor. The side of carrots was just ok. The chessar and chive biscuits were good, probably the best part of the meal — but not that good to rave about. They give you a bunch of extras like a lot of high end restaurants do now a days, like some complimentary petit fours and they also give you cotton candy to go(not sure why, it doesnt really fit in with the seafood theme or restaurant). Definitely a bit overpriced, paying for the BLT name.

For this price point I had waaay higher expectations. The best part of the meal was the cheddar biscuits! Steamed spinach was just ok, the salmon was actually a tad overcooked(the roast chicken was more moist!), and the chocolate dessert was also only ok. I liked the cotton candy touch at the end of the meal.

If I had to judge BLT Fish on food alone, I’d give it a 2.5 but because the décor was beautiful and the service was attentive, it deserves a 3. My friends and I knew this wasn’t going to be a cheap, hearty meal and we were fine with that; however, we were not fine with the bland food. When we were done with our meal and headed downstairs where BLT Fish Shack was, we wondered if we should have just dined down there instead.

The place is nice and the food spectacular! But nothing impressive. I find it a bit over priced for what you get. The waitress was nice but she seamed a bit lost and wandering around, and for the money you are spending, you may expect something more. The biscuits are delicious! We had the octopus appetizer and for $ 18 I definitely expected more. We had the Crispy Red Snapper, which was delicious and great for two. Definitely I would come back!

A friend reccomended this place for a very special night. I went here last monday with my fiancée and we had the most wonderful time. Thanks to the staffs in BLT who made us feel so special. The restaurant is located on a third floor. They have an open kitchen and you see the chefs working while you enjoy your food. As soon as we got seated in this nice corner booth in the middle, our server got us some delicious white sparkling wine on the house. That followed with some pasteries topped with caviar and watermelon soda on the house too. We were already overwhelmed with all the complementary stuff. Doesn’t happen quite often. :) For appetizers, we ordered half a dozen Oysters, grilled octopus and Day Boat Scallops. The oysters were fresh and we were served 3 different kinds. The portion of the grilled octopus was very small, but it tasted amazing. My experience with octopus is I always have to chew again and again. This one was way too soft and grilled to the right amount. I really liked the scallops too and the baked apricot that came with it. They served us some delicious complementary biscuits along with appetizers. It probably contained a bucket full of butter, but who cares when the biscuits just melts in you mouth the moment you take a bite. By far the most delicious biscuits i have ever tasted. For drinks, my fiancée ordered the Gin based Basil flavored drink and I got the Apricot flavored vodka based drink. I forgot the actual name of the drinks. But i liked the Basil flavored drink lot more than mine. Mine tasted like regular Apricot juice with soda. But his was very refreshing and tasty. For dinner, we ordered the Lobster with rice and green curry. The lobster tasted like lobster any other day, but the sticky rice, green curry and cooked onion combination mixed and served together went way too well. For dessert, we ordered the daily special ‘yogurt with peaches and choclates’. It came in a big bowl, the yogurt was soft like whip cream and the peaches, choclates and cookie mixed together and topped with that soft yogurt was not like just any other. We were too full to order any other dessert, thats why we had decided to order just one. But to our surprise, the staff served us Chocolate Cremeux with congratulations written with choclate syrup on the plate, the chef sent us mini financiars and choclate covered caramel and not to forget a big clear bottle of cotton candy. We couldn’t believe our eyes. Where were we??? It was an amazing experience!

Dined this evening. Great experience and I will be back. Service — overall warm and accommodating. We were seated in the middle of the 3rd floor dining room area. For some reason, the floor was shake every 30 seconds or so. We were promptly moved to a «shake-free» table near the window. The shaking was blamed on construction in the building next door. Appetizers — 12 oysters(6 east coast/6 west coast) were very good. Not Aquagrill level(the best!), but very good. Soft-shell Crab was amazing. Crispy and not the least bit greasy. The persian cucumbers gave the dish a nice crispness and the avocado purée, while not spicy, added the perfect smoothness to the dish. Entrees — My dining companion had the Branzino, and could not have been more satisfied with it. I had the King Salmon(it being in season and all), which was perfectly cooked; delicious. Sides — asparagus was very good, just not a standout side. The wild mushrooms with bacon and crème fraîche, however, complimented both entrees; fresh and creamy. We opted out of dessert, and the petit fours and green apple cotton candy were a great cap to a wonderful dinner. Ambience of the restaurant was nice, though it was not very crowded on the third floor, though we dined a bit on the early side at 6:30.

We came here without a reservation for 3 people on a Saturday night. The service was impeccable. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating and made sure our experience was flawless. We tried their summer menu for $ 55 /person. It was great! It is a four-course meal that isn’t too heavy and you get to try different dishes. My favorite was definitely the salmon and the swordfish. It was amazing.

The seafood is outstanding. It’s a bit pricey. But well worth the price for an occasion. I absolutely loved the ambiance. They have great service and a lot of space. The noise is normal. To start they give you a cheese biscuit with maple butter. Ummmm. The best! And they leave you with the recipe. For an app we had the petite plateau. The sauces were great. For an entrée we split a whole fish, a Maine Black Sea Bass(they don’t give you the tail or head!) with baby carrots and spinach on the side. Everything was cooked to perfection. For dessert we had a peaches and cream(not on the menu so you should ask) and they surprise you with a Green Apple Cotton Candy and chocolates. I have already recommended this to a friend.

Restaurants take note: If you want your customers feeling really happy, take a few notes from BLT fish. They do the little things right. Like what? Prompt friendly service. Lots of «bonus» treats like an amuse bouche, or the chive biscuits(with the recipe included!) or the cotton candy and chocolates with coffee. And a really neat atmosphere with a glass ceiling. We were seated near the kitchen and when we looked over, the chef saw our eyes and engaged us telling us what each dish was. Very nice. Despite all the other stuff, we ordered the Red Snapper for Two. We were not disappointed at all. Some asian sweetness and they filet it for you. Would highly recommend. The brussels sprouts with pancetta were delicious(if a bit too sweet) as a side dish. You’ll want one since the main dishes are a little devoid of «things». My partner got the sea scallops to start. She’s a bit fan of them and loved the dish. Overall, just a very pleasant and enjoyable meal. Would love to go back anytime!

BLT is quick, casual dining downstairs and full service restaurant upstairs. We were escorted upstairs via elevator which was a surprise. We were seated near the open kitchen. I like open kitchens-you know there’s no messing around and you get a peek into the art of cooking. The waiter was really funny, which made our dining experience all the more better. Instead of plain ol’ bread, we were served cheddar and chive biscuits with creamy sweet potatoes. Absolutely scrumptious. They even included a little paper with the recipe so you could make them at home! My friend and I shared the Red Snapper«cantonese» style for two and two sides-English Spinach with garlic, fresh nutmeg and Sweet Potato Fondant with soy palm sugar caramel. The Red Snapper was cooked really well and the spinach was very fresh. The fondant, however, grossed me out. It was too sweet and not so much like sweet potato. Yuck. For dessert we had the Meyer Lemon Soufflé with ricotta ice cream. Extremely unique flavor. So different from your typical chocolate soufflé. LIghty and airy. We were also served green apple cotton candy(which was literally melt in your mouth delicious) and assorted candies. Can’t wait to get back here!

Something smells fishy– in the most amazing scrumptious way anything ever could. With a raw bar selection like I’ve never seen in these parts BLT Fish is the perfect place to get your seafood on. It’s summer– almost– and I’m ready to load up on crab legs and oysters baby. Oh and maybe those soft shell crab tacos that blew my mind or the crab dip. AGH. MOREMOREMORE! I ordered a beer(as usual) but my friend had a great cocktail with cucumber in it super fresh and delicious! I did go with a friend that works for the BLT group so I did get a little spoiled but the hostess didn’t know that when I asked her if she could charge my phone and graciously found a charger for me and saved my night. Or ruined it?(after all those drunken texts that were able to be sent from my fresh charged phone) Either way, now I’m left with the urge for more. I ate downstairs but got the tour and can’t wait to go on a good date upstairs! Super chic and apparently they have a completely different menu up there for me to conquer.
