They have almond milk!!! It’s rare to find coffee places with almond milk, I usually only find places with soy.(Of course at an extra cost)

I’m alright with this place. More expensive than Starbucks but I guess it’s to support the campus.

I don’t know much about coffee, but I can talk to you about teas and lattes. My favorite drink to get from Freudian Sip is the Iced Green Tea Latte. Most places I go, especially Starbucks they mess up my latte, every time guaranteed(One time they didn’t even know they had to shake the green tea into the latte, the barista just scooped the matcha on top of the latte). Back to the green tea latte, I like how they make it here because it is very smooth, and it is not super sweet, but just enough so the matcha isn’t bitter. They have milk replacements too, like soy and almond milk, and they have a large variety of teas. The Freudian Sip also has a great loyalty card, you buy 10 drinks and your 11th is free. If you have the Matamoney card, it is an even better discount too. I would recommend getting the matamoney card because you really do save money.

OK Coffee… better than it used to be… BUT they don’t allow their overworked baristas to earn TIPS! Not acceptable.

Compare to «Big Shot» coffee places like Starbucks or the Coffee Bean, small coffee places like the Freudian Sip are much better than Starbucks or the Coffee Bean anyday. I don’t know why, but somehow, small coffee business franchise like Freudian Sip are willingly trying to do a better job in serving quality coffee as best as they can. Meanwhile, big shot coffee places like Starbucks or Coffee Bean, because they’re too big & powerful, it doesn’t really matter to them if their coffee is quality or not. I give Freudian Sip a high score because I am supporting small business & to show to big shot coffee places like Starbucks & Coffee Bean that they have to up their game. Because soon the small business franchise like Freudian Sip will become another powerful one to compete with. Another reason for the high score was price to my opinion are slightly better than Coffee Bean or Starbucks. #supportsmallbusiness

This place does the trick! I giggle a little bit every time I see the name of this place and the names of the drinks: «id, ego, and super ego.» I just got the smallest size of a soy latte and it was good. I like how the cups have built in sleeves and that there is a huge assortment of different flavors of syrups. Maybe one time I’ll come and try the delicious looking desserts!

I try not to spend so much money at school since tuition is already so expensive but I decided to give this place another try. I’ve only tried this place about three times since the 4 years that I’ve been attending CSUN. The first time I ordered an iced green tea which sucked because it was hella watered down. The second time I ordered a hot matcha green tea latte and it just had too much milk and not enough matcha powder… The third time(just yesterday), I ordered what I usually order from Starbucks, which is 3 shots of espresso over ice and TBH. It actually tasted way better than Starbucks!!! I’m no coffee expert but I’m really picky about the bitterness and the strength of caffeine I’m getting. The espresso shots didn’t taste too over roasted compared to Starbucks. It is a little more pricy-er than Starbucks though. I paid $ 2.90 for 3 shots at Freudian Sip & at sbux I would normally pay only $ 2.45 for 3 shots, lol. But I mean, it’s so convenient so yay? I have one semester left at CSUN and I potentially might start getting my espresso shots from here more often now. Yes CSUN… Just take all my money away from me while you still can…

White Rose Tea. Get it. It’s bomb. I like it iced, but warm is good too. Freudian Sip is CSUN’s answer to a coffee joint on campus. There’s a few of em scattered over the map, but this one’s by the bookstore and most of the food so it’s probably the most popular one. They’ve got your usual coffee drinks and teas, along with some snacks. This one has a few tables and springy bar stools near outlets to do your homework in between(or right before) classes. They’ve got a punch card here, get it punched ten times and you get a free drink, woo! I really like the name, the funny cartoon Freuds roaming the walls, and the drink sizes, Id, Ego, and Superego. I’m a sucker for kitsch, cheese, and atmosphere, what can I say?

I guess the Freudian Sip is a local thing, not that impressed though. I came here yesterday prior to my class orientation because I was in dire need of some caffeine. I noticed the prices have raised significantly compared to the pictures of the menu that were uploaded years ago. The café latte I purchased was just ok and was over priced. When I asked to have 3 raw sugars added, the cashier pointed to the table and said you can put it in yourself because we don’t have them behind the counter. Not coming back.

Most disgusting coffee ever. It taste like burnt coffee beans. Also it is way overpriced.

Drinks are adequate with nothing really special. Its pricing is right on to where its supposed to be but be careful when asking for ice-blended drinks! It will be as if you are sucking up a slurpee but w/o flavor.

This doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I can’t get a decent cappuccino on campus. Extremely pricey. Horrible drinks. My cappuccino tasted like charcoal. And the pastries are stale. Not the mention the students working there are all rude. Be thankful you have a job and were able to get one on campus.

Lets be serious, the name super cool. The coffee, ehh Sometimes it’s hard to swallow but the staff is nice enough, they never really know what they’re doing, asked for a dry cappuccino once and the girl behind the counter was like«umm what’s that?». Which is pretty scary/sad. But this is a super convenient stop for caffeine if I can’t make it to a real coffee shop before I get to campus

Go for the coffee… I just get the Dark Roast drip. Punch card deal — pay for 9, get the 10th free. The bagels and muffins aren’t great.

I practically live here lol. I buy like 2 or 3 drinks when i have classes. I have classes all day long so it seriously saves me. I’m not crazy about their regular coffee.. . it has always tasted burnt when I bought it, but there other drinks are pretty good. They are a little over-priced and often get super busy. Worth it when you can barely keep your eyes open though.

It’s no Starbucks or Coffee Bean that’s for sure but it will get the job done. Whenever you need a quick pick me up from studying or writing a paper for hours on end(something we’ve all suffered through) and your eyes are freakishly wide but your brain has shut down stop right on in for a cup of Joe and a scone. I use to grab a snack and hot chocolate here ALLTHETIME then realized A) I was spending way too much money and B) the hot chocolate I made at home was much tastier. Depending on the time and day it can be INSANE and sometimes the line can be out the door and the employees can be kind of testy. My honest opinion, there’s a Starbucks on Reseda and Vincennes might want to stop there instead to get better quality for about the same price.

These coffee places on campus are just ok. Nothing special and a little over priced. Staff members are usually in a really cranky mood or impatient if you ask them questions about menu so i was put off by that the couple times that I have been. It’s way cheaper to bring your own mug and use the coffee vending machine like the one in sierra hall. 1.50 for a French vanilla coffee :)

Love the name. Brilliant. And very clutch to provide some coffee to you when you are hungover and it is a somewhat cold day out … and Starbucks is a bit too far to make a coffee run in the short amount of the free time window you have been given on campus at CSUN.

Oh, dear… strangest, most bizarre Americano I’ve ever had. Sadly, it’s not a good strange but rather a «are you sure this is espresso?» strange. It only gets more than two stars because it is close, convenient and fast. This place wouldn’t last if it wasn’t on campus. EDIT: Over a year later I just want to know how you can screw coffee up THIS much. Down to one star from three.

Conveniently located all over campus, Freudian Sip is a nice little addition to CSUN. They have good coffee, good baristas, and are open when we need them. Their prices are a little less expensive than Starbucks, and they do a punch card deal, where after buying 9 coffees, you get the 10th free. I have to say, Freudian Sip is a blessing on cold days at CSUN, and through those late nights around finals! Keep that coffee brewing, Freudian Sip!
