You know– I foolishly thought that Jake’s was a just simple diner food, but I was so very wrong. I had a lunch there recently that pretty much changed my life– so damn good. I will be running back as soon as humanly possible.

This is one of the best places in Noho for breakfast. If you have never been, you need to go!

I love hash so after seeing a Phantom Gourmet featuring Jake’s hash I knew I had to get back to Jake’s after many many years. Best things about Jake’s besides the hash… the restaurant is warm literally and figuratively… wait staff rocks… coffee is GREAT not Americano diner coffee. And best of all the hash of the day(can’t remember what it was) but it lived up to the expectations.

So yummy! Best home fries in town. Also, such a yummy vegan kale salad! Just needs to offer non-dairy milk!

I go to this place quite often, and it is without a doubt my favorite breakfast spot in Northampton. The food itself is 100; personally I recommend trying Downtown with a side of avocado, or house hash(unless it’s salmon, the roast salmon hash they had a couple days ago was a little fishy and smelled quite strong). Any of the sandwiches is also an excellent choice, my personal favorite is Jake’s Cuban. I would stay away from their omelet though, it’s not bad, but there are just way too many better options. Overall, it’s very unlikely that you would be unsatisfied with the food here. The staff is very friendly and accommodating as well, the only downside of this place is that it’s not terribly spacious and it gets a little cold inside during winter times. Expect a line on the weekends.

If you’re looking for a small spot, with great food Jake’s is great for breakfast! My boyfriend and I went here for breakfast today. I have the country Benedict, and he had a byo omelet. We both loved our meals. Beware of the coffee, it is very strong, but also extremely bitter in taste. We both ended up with Mapleline Chocolate Milk, which is delicious. Unfortunately, we tried to joke with the waitress, but she seemed unenthused(probably due to them being so busy). Overall a great place for food.

The food here is excellent, the meals are served with such an enthusiasm toward taste and presentation that I see why this is becoming such a Northampton hot spot. Definitely recommend the hash!!!

We’ve had mixed experiences at Jake’s. The first time was for brunch, which was awesome and our server was hilarious. There was a long wait but it was worth it. The second time we went for lunch on a weekday and it was less awesome. Indifferent service and not-so-great sandwiches. The Reuben was a huge disappointment and they were out of slaw. But, I’d still recommend it for brunch and look forward to going back sometime.

Cute rustic place with really good food. A bit cramped and old but food/service makes up for it. I had the Mediterranean chicken sandwich which was yummy. The eggs Benedict over pulled pork w a side salad was scrumptious. Definite would order this next time. Great prices too.

Best breakfast place in town. There’s usually a wait, but it’s totally worth it. The hashes are to die for, and a great way to start the day. Order anything off the menu with no worries!

Why does this place get such good reviews? I’ve been here four times and can’t keep going/won’t go back. They have repeatedly messed up the following basic items: TOAST(burned) EGGS(they tasted like vinegar the first time, dishwasher detergent the second time, and scented soap the third time. Each time they were overlooked.) SAUSAGE(undercooked, pink inside) COFFEE(weak or burnt) VEGETABLES(cooked until soggy) I literally have never had a worse experience at a breakfast place, nor has anyone I’ve asked. This entire restaurant should be shut down. I feel like the other reviews must be going somewhere else. There’s also a huge long line every morning. Save yourself from stomach problems and go to the Green Bean or something instead.

Since moving to Northampton a few months ago, this has quickly become one of my favorite spots. For brunch, it might be the best in town! It’s verrrrry popular, though, so expect a line and a wait if you head for brunch on the weekend. If you want to avoid the lines, go for lunch during the week! It’s a small space so sometimes it does fill up, but the wait at lunch is never too bad! And trust me, you might find the wait worth it once you’ve tried their food. It’s just SO good! I always try to get whatever special they’re offering that day and I have yet to be disappointed. Eggs benedict, veggie omelettes, french toast… oooh man, all of it’s so good. And it’s more than just brunch! The lunch offerings are amazing too. Their burger is one of my favorite in town. The salads are awesome and definitely filling! No measly weak little salads here. The ingredients are fresh and the menu is interesting. The only difficult thing is deciding what to get. Like I said, though, the space is quite small. This is the ideal place for groups no bigger than 5 – 6, I’d say. If it’s just you and a friend, you can sit at the counter for pretty quick service. Other than the counter, there are two small rooms packed full of tables and chairs. The servers are super friendly but often seem a little overwhelmed, so be nice! It’s a small place, but the food comes out quickly and it never disappoints!

Great meal, zero complaints! First timer to Jake’s, will definitely become a regular. The home fries, kale salad, and the Coolidge scramble were fantastic. The home fries came in a cast-iron skillet and had incredible flavor! In addition, the waitresses were very friendly, speedy, and competent!

BESTBRUNCHIVEEVERHAD. Every last aspect of Jakes is amazing. The brunch plates are not only interesting, but dangerously delicious. I wanted to try nearly every plate on the specials and on the regular menu. The staff is nothing but sweet and hard fast workers that still check up on you frequently. Table turnaround is great, kitchen works really hard and wonderful portions. Youre getting the best all around experience here at Jake’s. They need 6 stars!

Sylvester’s in Northampton does not compare in quality! I got the Coolige scramble with tomatoes, kale, and goat cheese. They were fully cooked, yet moist — I never knew that eggs could be these two things at once! It was one of the most splendid breakfasts I had ever had :-) The flavors of the veggies in the scramble went together better than I expected. The coffee was not bad. The squshy large slice of rye toast was the cherry on top! Initially I was bothered by the prices(all dishes were about a dollar more expensive than advertised on the website), but because the food was of such good quality I forgave them for this.

I heard about Jake’s on a Phantom Gourmet episode. It made my list of places to eat and I finally made it there yesterday! Before Jake’s it was a barber shop then a restaurant I learned. The Roast Beef Hash was on the menu, I ordered it. So delicious. i also ordered their egg sandwich. Oh my! The shallots hit my taste buds perfectly. And yes I ordered a side of home fires. The seasoning was on point. I left happy and wicked full. FYI, Jake’s just bottled up their Chili Sauce. I have two words, get it!

I came here for a takeout breakfast sandwich the other morning. It’s a sizable sandwich! It comes with two fried eggs, cheese, spinach, shallots and tomatoes. I added bacon(a good choice). It came out piping hot and delicious. They also had maple bacon pancakes on the menu and those looked amaaazzzing, but I was getting take out so I opted for the sandwich to go. I’ll definitely be back :)

Friggin awesome. Go early — it gets pretty busy by 9/9:30am. One of the best breakfasts that I’ve had in a while. Super fresh scrambled eggs that were prepared with bacon, sautéed onion and roasted mushrooms(yes — all mixed together… and it wasn’t an omelette)…with a side of insanely good home fries(just the right amount of seasoning) and perfect rye toast. All topped off with a nice, strong cup of coffee. Über friendly wait staff — food came out fast. Tons of great choices on the menu(huevos rancheros, pancakes, french toast… etc). Lunch options looked really good, too. I’ll be back.

3.5 stars. i went back for those stunning fish tacos, but … alas … they weren’t so stunning the second time. my tortilla was cold, there was a little too much red cabbage, and the balance of salsa and crema was off. my friend didn’t like them at all. :(such a bummer. the service is still swift and courteous, the place has a great vibe, and i don’t regret going but the search for the perfect fish taco resumes as of right now. we push on!

I came here for a birthday brunch and was not disappointed! You will definitely experience a wait so don’t even complain when you get here. This place is very popular with limited seating. Our waitress wasn’t the best, but I was so excited about eating here that I didn’t even mind that she kept forgetting things. The meals were delicious. The pork roast eggs Benedict dish is a must! Even my mimosa was perfection. Good experience. Great food.
