Amazing as always, first time to this location. Service and food were just as good as the original.

Really good food. We eat there often, as we live almost next door. Love the wedge salad and blackened catfish with étouffée. We usually have a salad and split an entrée. They split in the kitchen so presentation is still very nice. It is plenty of food for us, but we are an older couple and don’t eat as much as we used to. Service is very good. Rocky start after opening, but all worked out. Good martini and nice wine.

Stopped here on a whim and it was the best meal we had on our trip to New Braunsfels! Loved the lunch special: Wednesday has Cajun Enchiladas with white rice and a house special of baked beans and sausage. Home made dinner rolls where our boys favorite and the kids meals are amazing that include options on fried catfish or shrimp! Dad had the blacks kneed catfish which he loved as well! Service was out of this world and we will be back before we leave!

We had the sword fish and chicken fried rebey steak… WOW! I just found what I was searching for. Becka our waitress was very knowledgeable and is a great server! Must try this restaurant out over and over again.

There is a story behind the owners of The Reel and McAdoos because their menus are near identical. Either way, their shrimp and grits are fantastic.

Ate here for the 1st time tonight. I dont think this place lives up to the ratings on Unilocal.Food prices were high for the quality of food served. I have eaten at several sea food places over the years and this one does not meet the high standars of other sea food restraunts in this price range. The only positive thing I can say was that our waiter was working very hard. For the price I would try someplace else…

Me, wife, and 3 boys stopped on Sunday afternoon to eat and catch end of Spurs /Warrior on Sunday. Appetizer came right out. Salads just after. Food was on time, fresh and good as always. What set this 4+ star typical Reel experience in to 5 deserved extra recognition. The 5 of us where breaking our necks to watch game after eating. Manager came by for the 2nd or 3rd time making sure all was good. He then Offered to sit us by tv, pack our to go food, bring us fresh drinks, and the ticket for meal. The entire staff was just very thoughtful. We felt they truly took interest in us as the customer. Great job Reel staff. Looking forward to next road trip so we can visit… As we often do.

Robert a lot of people don’t know the background so thank you. We have eaten twice and each meal was great. We came when they first opened.

Ok, so everyone knows that the team at McAdoo’s split and some stayed — some formed Reel Seafood. As a result, the food is so similar as to almost be a chain. Though there are many food items that are different, the«inventor» was the same so they have the same roots. What it gets down to is: do you want the food or do you want the experience? If you just want the food, go to Reel Seafood. It’s cheaper. But, then again, so is the location, the décor, the furniture, etc. In fact, it seems like most of it was picked up from AtHome. If you want the experience, then pay slightly more and go to McAdoos. From a food point, you can’t go wrong either way. From a staffing point — they both have wonderful staff. I went to Reel Seafood and actually thought that their people(hostess, waitresses, all support, etc.) were warmly welcoming and just great people.

Very good. We tried the shrimp trio(fried, coconut and stuffed) and the Cajun enchiladas. We recommend both dishes. Great patio area and great service.

There yesterday evening, for the first time. Actually very decent. Started with the calamari and it was worthy, although didn’t much care for the sauce(more of a fan of pure marinara). Moved on to the wedge salad and was not disappointed. And finally, the pecan-crusted barramundi was quite delectable. Upper level atmosphere. Good crisp and friendly service. Sat out on the patio as the weather was nice. I’ll be back. Scott H.

Great food, mediocre service. We went with a group of 6(not really that difficult) and we were directed towards a booth, but my father has a back problem and we had my handicapped nephew with us, so we requested a table. The hostess, who had almost no personality, informed us that it would need to be cleaned first. We said that we would wait, and she proceeded to roll her eyes at us. After we were seated, our waiter helped us immediately. Drinks were prompt, however, it took forever to get our order taken. If the place was busy, I’d understand, but there was literally only 6 seated tables, enough staff, and our waiter was still running around like it was a full house. When we tried to order, they were out of a few staple items already. After we finally ordered, food was out quick. Food was great, no complaints from any of us. Place was decently priced but serving sizes were a little small. Also, there was ZERO toilet paper in the women’s restroom, so take a napkin or you’re SOL. UPDATE: my stomach is BAD this morning. The only other thing I ate was some angel food cake after so I think it was from dinner. Not sure what it was, I had the parmesan chicken pasta.

First visit here to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Called ahead to check if they have a #gluten free menu. They do! Just ask! Our server, Casey, was excellent. Very personable and attentive. The food was so good. Had a really good experience here and I will come back — SOON!(The«Cajun Enchiladas… try them!»

Went there for lunch with my girlfriend had the fish and shrimp tacos. We also had a pound of crawfish for 7 dollars I think, it was very good and without drinks isreasonably priced

First visit to the Reel, started by the former owners of Mcadoos in new Braunfels. The menu is almost identical to the former but has a better pricing structure. They have the lunch menu 7 days instead of 6, there are many 10ish lunch prices, as well as a few $ 6 appetizers. The fondue for which we came was EXACTLY the same as mcadoos and was delicious. The interior was nicely adorned with lots of window views, well spaced tables, and a wine room. I chose to eat the trio shrimp lunch platter with fries and cajun slaw $ 10.50. The shrimp were stuffed with faux crabmeat, coconut battered and fried, and butterflied and fried. I do not like the way this or mcadoos batters shrimp with the double dipped, very bready with panko crumbs. Furthermore, the coconut one was very dry inside and flavorless. The stuffed one was bland, lack of seafood, and bready. I also got crawfish which were small and lacked flavor. The service was second to none from the server to the manager and cooks. Top notch. Come here for the friendly staff, absolutely. I will probably try one of their burgers next or a poboy. This restaurant is doing so well that the family is about to open a Mexican cantina near Creekside in new Braunfels.

It is quite difficult to find fresh and satisfying seafood in the Hill Country, The Reel is by far some of the best seafood I have had in the surrounding area! The service alone was some of the best I have ever experienced! Katie, our waitress was knowledgeable of everything on the menu, she gave wonderful suggestions and she was an absolute delight to speak with. The sauce that was supposed to be served with the barramundi dish I order was not available so the manager, not our waitress, came to our table to explain the situation and suggested another sauce for the dish, and it tasted absolutely delicious! On top of the service and food being great they also have a fantastic wine selection! My husband and I will definitely be coming back!

4.5STARS! Taste a lot like McAdoos, same owners or something like that but regardless it’s great. I haven’t been to the original location in Smithson Valley but I will say they know fish. It’s always cooked to perfection. What’s really exciting is the décor in this place. Out of this world for a shopping center. You’ll enjoy that alone. FLAVORS! If you have a good palate then you’ll enjoy all the cajun spices they like to incorporate into their meals. The Cajun enchiladas are the best by far. You can find Creole originality along with a hint of Mexican spice. I’m guessing cumin. The salmon you gotta take grilled or blackened. It’s thick portion sided with a light white rice and veggies is perfect for lunch. The beans are what leaves you coming back for more. Again, cajun flavors and added thickness with the fresh sausage gives you an opportunity to mix up your own gumbo with the rice. I left you with a few pictures to inspect and tour the food from every angle including the inside of the salmon. Enjoy!

We ate here today for lunch and it was great. Our total was $ 32 for two entrees, drinks, and a dessert to share. Very very similar to McAdoos(which is not a bad thing!) but the prices were slightly better. Will definitely be back! Service was FABULOUS. McAdoos is very hit or miss with service, and the Reel knocked it out of the park.

A friend and I had lunch here about a week ago. Since this restaurant had recently opened in town we were anxious to check it out. We were pleased to see the interior was modern, fresh and clean. There is also a patio for those who wish to relax al fresco. I understand the chef worked for many years in a well-known restaurant developing and perfecting his techniques for Cajun cuisine. That attention to detail certainly showed in our dishes, which were fried catfish and fried shrimp. Even though we ordered off the lunch menu, the portions were generous. We also appreciated that the friendly server kept our ice tea glasses filled frequently. I would recommend to anyone who gets a yen for fresh seafood and cold drinks.

New Braunfels needed another seafood place and this is the answer. If you are from here you are very aware of McAdoo’s which would be the competition. Rumor has it that the owners of McAdoo’s left it and reopened The Reel in Canyon Lake. My guess is these are those same owners as the menu is about 90% the same as McAdoo’s. That isn’t a bad thing. We visit the other restaurant quite frequently so are very familiar with the menu. We came here for our 18th wedding anniversary. We had the Redfish Pontchartrain and Salmon with Boudreux sauce. Both came with dirty rice. Both dishes were plentiful and very good! We did start with fried mozzarella and those were cold on the middle sadly but were served with a tangy marinara. The bowl of seafood gumbo came after our meal was served which was unfortunate. However, wow it had a great flavor and a hot spicy bang at the end. Their Dripping Springs Martini is potent! The adult cherry limeade was refreshing. Will definitely come back.
