I am guilty of always getting the same order, however it’s always awesome and the dinner is consistently great. The people are equally kind and they are fast.

I love this place. Definitely my favorite place for Chinese food in town. My boyfriend and I eat here about everyday for lunch. I love how when I don’t have time to sit and eat there I can call ahead and it will be ready for pick up in 10 – 15 minutes! Definitely would recommend it to everyone.

We have tried several Chinese restaurants since moving to New Braufels and had not found one we liked until China Kitchen. We have eaten there twice and have excellent service by the young lady waitress and great food both times. First time I had the hunan beef, and the second time I had the beef and mushrooms. Both were excellent but the beef and mushrooms were my favorite. The prices are reasonable too!

Used tea. They gave me a pot of used tea. There is nothing else to say. They tried to make me pay for it. Seriously? Nope.

Absolutely, the worst Chinese restaurant in New Braunfels, Unilocalers, run from this place. Arrived to this dark and filthy looking space and was greeted by the owner. Then everything went downhill when the waitress approached me. The server(mid 40s, hair back, dark rimmed glasses, Hispanic female) seemed rude and bothered. Every time, I asked a question about the specials, she seemed defensive and sharp saying«no changes or substitutions or it will be $ 2 more.» My diatribe will be about the quality of lunch specials vs an Asian restaurant’s night menu. Do you know that 80% of a restaurant’s patrons come during lunch? That said, shouldn’t the quality of the lunch specials be such that many of those customers will come back for the more expensive dinner? I compare all Chinese restaurants to the wonderful food including lunch at Dragon Place in Seguin. The servers and owner there are inviting, friendly, and professional. This lady here at China Kitchen made me feel like an idiot for ever stepping foot in here. eats: — lemon chicken lunch special $ 6ish: — hot and sour soup, cold and«stale» crispy wonton topping, soup was thick, gloppy, and salted XXX, disgusting. — «fried» rice was a yellow, dry, and tasteless mess, could have had at least some green onion in it. The eggroll was dry and flavorless. — the chicken had a light corn starch batter on it, it was flavorless and the batter fell off in whole pieces, the chicken was only lukewarm, I asked for some brown gravy substituted for the extremely sweet lemon sauce, again $ 2 for any substitutions. crumbs: — with poor customer service(that horrible server), house policies, subpar tasting lunch food, and a filthy building, I will never step foot in this place again. — out of 320 reviews, I have only given 8 one star reviews. I don’t take this lightly.

We a love the Vietnamese food here, actually it’s all we order here. The ragoons are some of the best I’ve ever had. Fast service, good price. It’s our fav local oriental food.

I arrived a few minutes late to join some friends for lunch. The atmosphere was tired, but clean and the host was friendly. The waiter was super friendly and attentive. However, it was the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. They need to fire the current crew and get some new cooks. The chow mien noodles for the soup were actually stale. For real? As fast as a place goes thru them I couldn’t fathom that. The wonton soup was actually average. I ordered the lunch special General Tso’s chicken. The waiter asked if I wanted mild, medium, or hot. Never asked that before with the dish so I responded mild. What was served was this highly sweet gelatinous mess on top of tough, old fried chicken. I can’t believe that they even ate half of it. The rice was very oily. I ordered the fried rice, but someone went over board on the cooking oil several hours earlier. Finally, I was happy they offered either a spring roll or a crab wonton with it. That was a lot for a lunch special. I found out later that they were trying to make up with quality by providing quantity. Unfortunately, the math didn’t work and the lack of quality over whelmed the quantity. Yeah, the crab wonton didn’t seem to have ever been In the same time zone as a crab and spent much of the day drying out. On top of it all, the lunch special and drink was within change of $ 10. I think I’ll avoid it with all the other options in town.

I’ve been going to China Kitchen with my parents for about 10 years now, so I am biased because this place has memories for me. That aside, the food is good, hot, and quickly delivered. The service isn’t always great, but what can you expect for less than $ 10 for an entire meal at a sit-down restaurant? I think it’s adequate. My favorite is the Mongolian Beef, the hot and sour soup, and the crab rangoon and egg rolls. All of the fried rice is great!

Weird atmosphere, you’d think you were a tourist in a Chinese town. The food is good but not what it use to be back in the early 2000’s. Dont go in near closing time. It just feels weird when there arent many people in there.

China Kitchen is very yummy! We go there enough that some of the servers know what we want without us ordering! Lol! The servers and bus boy are alway filling our glasses and the manager are very nice. We’ve been eating at China Kitchen for 10+ years!

The atmosphere was first rate and the service was extremely attentive. Too bad the food just wasn’t very good. Admittedly I am judging this having just moved from California where I can get better Chinese food than I can get in either China or Taiwan(though Singapore comes in a tie). Here I had a few easy standards: Sesame Chicken: which should be crisp with a clean tasting zesty sauce and(OMG) lots of sesame seeds, here it was soft and soggy, in a bland almost muddy sauce with a few sesame seeds hiding in it. Pork Egg Foo Young: here was more like a bad omelet than the tasty Chinese dish in sauce I was looking for Pork LoMein: another simply bland concoction of noodles sauce and pork, not good. To make it worse — most good Chinese places cost a dollar or two less per dish than this place. I boxed most of it up to take home — I hope my dog will eat it. Chinese food is actually really easy to cook well — if you make the effort. My good came out so fast, I know it wasn’t cooked to order, it had probably been sitting back there most of the night in big tubs just waiting to be reheated and served. They are not even making the effort — and it shows. I was one of maybe three occupied tables in this place, now I can see why. Stick with the Panda Express further down 35, at least there it is priced fairly without the pretense of being a real Chinese restaurant.

My family and I absolutely love this place! They have great lunch specials and the waitstaff is always around to refill teas and answer any questions you may have. It saddens me that reviewers had terrible experiences but I assure you that we go in almost once a week and have never had an issue… perhaps its due to new management. The young gentleman manager that runs it is always pleasant when ringing me up, I’m sure if you have an issue he would be happy to accommodate you in any way possible.

So far, this is the best chinese food that I’ve had in New Braunfels. We had the vegetable dumplings, hot and sour soup, mongolian beef, and singapore noodles.

The food is quite tasty. The lunch is a great deal because it includes soup, appetizer, main dish and tea. Although the dinner is a very healthy portion so I always end up with a to go box for another meal. The service here is normally wonderful although my most recent visit was with a new waiter and he forgot about refilling my tea. Usually I can just get it sweet enough and they fill it again. lol The décor is dated but as is most chinese restaurants that I have eaten in. I go to enjoy the food and definitely not the atmosphere.

WARNINGDONOTEATHERE!!! My friend just got out of the hospital. She was poisoned by food. China Kitchens food! They have served rotten spoiled meat on so many occasions I do not understand how they are still open. Really people… A $ 5 lunch special + $ 400ER visit = not worth it! STAYAWAY they are going to kill someone because they care more about saving a few buck then the health of their customers. If you are served bad food and complain they WILL take the lunch off your bill, but your lunch special just cost you $ 7.85 the cost of iced tea and the soup you ate. They smile at you while you eat up rotten old food. Complain one time and you will see what kind of people are running this DEATHTRAP you think is a good place to get a cheap lunch. YUCK… Pack a sandwich and skip the botulism!

Let me first say I have eaten at China Kitchen for more than 20 years. There have been good days and bad(most of the good ones happened during the previous owner) However, I still enjoyed eating here until recently. I used to like their Vietnamese dishes. The one I always ordered contained a pork spring roll over a bed of rice noodles. The other day when I ordered, it came out undercooked. All the meat in the center of the roll was still pink. Hello… it’s pork. You have to fully cook it to be safe. I tell the manager(who, by the way, knows me and my family) and ask if they could cook the spring rolls a little longer. She is nice to my face and takes the dish away. Then after a few minutes she comes back with the same bowl of under cooked food. The roll is just sitting there just as exposed and pink as before. I can tell you I didn’t eat it and that was that. If they can treat patrons of 20 years who they know by name like this then you can’t expect them to treat anyone else any better. I won’t ever be going back. If you want really awesome Chinese food in New Braunfels head over to Mama Fu’s located off Hwy 35 on loop 337. They have amazing fresh handmade eggrolls. A-tan on Common St. is great too. If you want even cheaper awesome chinese food go over to China King Restuarant on 46. The family that owns China King has ties to a great restaurant in China town out in San Francisco. Panda Express is also always an option too. Just wanted to point out how many other really great Asian restaurants there are in New Braunfels. No one is stuck having to eat at China Kitchen because there’s nothing else.

The price is fine, the food is decent, the service is okay, the décor needs a MAJOR update. Cracked containers for the sweet and sour sauce. please make a captial investment in your business and change this. It is chessy looking inside. I recognize that if they put a little money into the décor, prices may increase. I am willing to pay a dollar or so more to have a less chessy restaurant.
