Gracie South Bay Jiu Jitsu

We visited after worlds for a few classes. Very helpful staff.
Facilities are very nice but lacking showers. We were told they were being installed though and would be ready in just a short time.
Instruction was top level from both fabricio and leticia. Very pleasant experience all around. Nice friendly people to train with.
Only downside as far as I am concerned is the fact that they run on «Brazilian «time. This means that classes never start nor stop on time. This is slightly annoying when you come from a strict environment like I do and plan accordingly. However since we only visited 2 days in total this could just be accidental.
I wholeheartedly recommend a visit!

One word to describe Gracie South Bay? Home! An amazing place to train especially with Champion instructors and also being able to train with teammates who you consider as a family. Best Jiu Jitsu academy in the South Bay! Come on in and experience the great things that are happening with this academy!

Gracie South Bay is one of my favorite academies to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in San Diego. Coach Leticia Ribeiro is an extremely well knowledge Jiu Jitsu practitioner and also very experienced coach. This is a legit Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy where you are going to feel welcome to come and train. So if you are looking for a place to train or to enroll your child, don’t hesitate to give them a call.

This is a great place to train and learn jiu jitsu. The instructors are world class competitors and great instructors. And that combination is very rare. The gym is clean and the members are supportive. My wife, my kids and I all train. It’s a great environment for the whole family.

I am still not sure what motivated me to one day decide to try BJJ, but somehow I ended up walking into Gracie South Bay. I think it was fate. I am so happy that I did! Yes, they have world-​class instructors and an amazing competition team for both kids and adults, but more importantly, GSB is a place with heart. For the last 6 months or so that I’ve been training here, I always feel like I am among family and friends. I am learning from the best and am surrounded by other females (of all ages) with a broad range of experience. I feel comfortable and supported while learning this challenging and humbling martial art at GSB. So yes, I would highly recommend this academy to eveyone, regardless of age or level of training. I started with zero experience in martial arts at age 31, so anything is possible! :)

GSB is not just a BJJ academy, it is a family. Letticia Ribiero and the team here offers not only world class training but a welcoming community for all ages and background. I knew little about BJJ a year ago but initially decided to sign up here because I wanted to learn more and it was close to my house. I feel so grateful that I was lucky to find GSB because it has changed my life– I have gotten to know so many inspiring individuals and fallen in love with this martial arts taught by humble and skilled champions!

I was shopping around for a new Jiujitsu gym due to relocation and it took me one drill class with Leticia Ribeiro to get me hooked! Plus for the first time, as usually, I’m one of the handful female Bjj practitioners amongst a predominantly male atmosphere, I felt welcomed and right at home here! I never had the pleasure of training with more than a handful of females until I join GSB and top female competitors at that. In addition, the team had a family oriented, good vibes feel about them – the way you feel at home. This is a place to train as a family or even feel like part of an extended family.

We are so blessed my kids found Gracie Southbay!!! You wont find another gym like this!!! Not only do you learn soo much from World Class Champions! But more importantly they make you and your family feel welcomed like its your home!!! Best place to train!

From the first day I walked into Gracie Southbay I immediately felt welcome, comfortable, and safe. In the ~6 months that I’ve been training here it has really become home because the sense of support and community is unlike any other gym I have been to. Not to mention, you get to train with and learn from world class athletes. The coaches are actively competing as well so everyone is helping each other get better and stay motivated. It doesn’t get any better than GSB!

The best place to train BJJ in San Diego! All of the instructors are amazing, technical and humble. Couldn’t ask for a better or more positive gym environment. Great for everyone– kids, adults, women.

World class facility with world class instructors! Leticia Ribeiro, 9x IBJJF world champion and a hall of famer and Fabricio Camoes, UFC veteran and IBJJF world champion, and all of the other coaches are truly amazing. They care about their students on and off the mats. My daughter loves coming to Gracie South Bay to train and is always motivated. She always has a big smile on her face every time she steps on those mats. Come check out Gracie South Bay! This is a great Jiu Jitsu academy! You won’t be disappointed!

So many good things to say about this place but I’ll keep it simple and say this is the best place to train if you can make it down to the Southbay and Chula Vista area! You’ll love the environment, the people and the instruction!

I have to give Gracie South Bay five stars, my daughter has been training here for about 2 months and I can already see her skills improved, she was previously in another school in Santee and she was there for about 2yrs we decided that it was time to look for a new environment. We took a couple of free classes at Gracie South Bay to give it a try and see if this was worth making the commitment to drive every day all the way to National City approx. 20 minutes from our house.
Coach Leticia is great with kids, she has a way of teaching even with adults that is very unique. I can totally understand why she is a 9 X World Champion she is such a hard worker she teaches every class and never gives up. She is next to her students at every tournament no matter what. At Gracie South Bay you really have a World Champion teaching your kids and Leticia’s upper belt students helping her out. Here are a couple of things that I liked and factors that we took in consideration
*Classes are smaller (having too many kids rolling all at once can be unsafe)
*The classes are divided into 2 small group bigger kids 7 – 8 and smaller kids 5 – 6
* The gym facility is clean all the time the mats are cleaned every day (believe me on this)
*Here everyone is treated the same no matter how many privates your kid gets.
*Great environment all the students and parents are very friendly.
* There is a competition team and Leticia invites you to be part of it when she thinks you are ready.
The most important thing here is that all the kids are so happy training, I wanted my daughter to learned but at the same time have fun enjoy Jiu Jitsu I wanted her to ask me go to everyday and its happening here, seeing her smile proves me that we took the right decision.

My son has been training with Leticia for almost five years my other son for four and my daughter for two. She has not only been an amazing coach but such a great role model for our children! We consider the Gracie Southbay team our family and would have never guessed that this would be such a great part of our life! The whole team including the adults have impacted us in such a positive way we could not be where we are as family/​individual today if we didn’t have Leticia and her team!

Gracie South Bay Jiu Jitsu is a great place to train for whatever goals that you may desire whether you are an adult or child. All the Professors are great and you will learn every technique with the finest detail. The biggest attraction about Gracie South Bay is that it’s very family oriented and you will always feel welcome like it’s your second home. I also give it 200% or an A++++++ for the children program, it’s just simply amazing that I just can’t simply find the words to describe it.
