CONCENTRATION — PERSEVERANCE — HUMILITY is Casa Del Sol’s motto, but desbribing Sensei Genaro in three words is alot tougher. Genaro is a college graduate with a masters degree and a successful international business consultant. My sense is that he’s used his 25 plus years of Martial Arts training really as the base for living a healthy, positive, and inquisitive life. He’s a tremendous giver, a patient teacher, and a loyal friend. Always striving to acquire knowledge, he continues to grow his Martial Arts training, having recently travelled to Japan on a 10 week pilgrimage and honing his Iaido sword skills. In classes, I’ve seen him deftly respond to the learning styles of both children and adult students as well as lead his black belt co-instructors with confidence and humility. The dojo itself is secluded in a sports park near the National City library and provides the privacy you don’t usually get from strip mall gyms. The prices are pretty amazing, with the cost of each class at about $ 6 or $ 7. But don’t forget you’ll still need to buy your gi and they vary in price from about $ 15 to $ 40 depending on size.
