The Library At The Old Hickory Steakhouse

When I think of The Library” I think if leather chairs and dark wood panel walls. Well this bar has that but unfortunately does not have the high end drinks or service to match. The service is on par with an average restaurant and the drink menu is nothing special. It’s a nice quite place to have an overpriced drink, but the experience is a little lacking from what I hoped.

After a long drive to Nashville and a shuttle ride over to The Gaylord, I was happy to find a spot to enjoy a nice bottle of wine.
We walked inside and it was crowded, but it was Christmas time. Everywhere in The Gaylord was bustling. I grabbed a wine menu and decided on a Napa Valley selection, Hall wine. The wine wasn’t too great, it definitely wasn’t what I would call a $ 100 bottle, which was what we paid after the tip. But hey, it was Christmas vacation and I wanted to splurge.
We ordered and paid for the wine and headed to the «outside» seating, which of course wasn’t outside, but overlooked a peaceful scenery, it was like we stepped in the adult version of Willy Wonka. The seating was comfortable wicker like loungers. Yes, I could probably buy a bottle of Hall Wine for half that price at home, but here is the only place to kick back with it and enjoy such scenery.

Soooo my first impression of this place was terrible, and it just got worse. Walked up to the hostess and stood there while she played on the computer (maybe working) for 3 minutes (well it felt like 3 minutes but actually 30, 45 sec) before even acknowledging us. Finally she pointed us to the library bar. Walked up to the bar and watched the bar tender rudely throw 4 napkins to the people next to us and then we were finally acknowledged. Order 2 glasses of Bella gloss and it took forever for us to even get noticed again so we decided to opt out of appetizers And additional glasses of wine. So sad because this place has potential, unfortunately their staff has no common sense or courtesy. FYI this is Christmas Eve…
