The food and service were horrendous. I was part of a large group dining here and we had a family style dinner. Appetizer of bruschetta wasn’t bad but food went quickly downhill from there. The salad was served with three croutons and the a small amount of ranch dressing. No tomatoes, no cucumbers, carrots, onions or anything made for a poor/mediocre salad. Three entrees were served lukewarm;the salmon was super dry, the veal was chewy and the ravioli was cold and the filling was dry and very unappetizing. To give you an idea, 3 folks at my table of ~12 decided that they’d request to have plain pasta with marinara instead of eating the entrees provided. So when I saw that a peer was served cheesecake and I requested a piece instead of the chocolate hockey puck dessert being served the server said, he has allergy and proceeded to serve me the standard dessert. He said, I’ll check and then proceeded to avoid me for the next 10 minutes. Finally he comes back and says, we can get it for you but we’ll have to charge you. Seriously? After mediocre food over the entire meal and paying a pretty penny for the meal(Significantly More than a recent meal at Ruth Chris!) you are going to go that route! What poor customer service! I would seriously think very seriously before spending a dime at this place.

This restaurant was recommended with high accolades. While I may be an Italian food snob, this still left a lot to be desired. The service was great and they were very accomodating to our picky, party of 8. My pasta was cold and the quantity was small… especially for $ 38 dollars! They ran out of fresh mozzarella on a Tuesday at 5:30pm…how does that happen? Bread basket had variety but the frozen butter created an issue for several at the table. The appetizers were skimpy as well… ordered the shrimp/pancetta one and it had three shrimp… really!?! Calamari was good though… nice ambiance, not bad for hotel food but nothing more than that.

This Italian restaurant is the best at Gaylord hotel. I don’t think any other restaurant is better than this place. Every thing on their menu is superb! I had calamari and artichokes appetizers for our entrees. My self had Chicken Piccata, sautéed in Olive Oil with Garlic, Green Onions, Mushrooms and Capers, finished with fresh Lemon Butter with seasonal vegetables and Cappellini. Others had excellent food. but can’t remember. But, have to say, this place is damn darn good!

elegante italiano ristorante at the gaylord early dinner — we opted for appetizers for our entrees here… the servings are, LOTS! my husband chose a platter with mushrooms stuffed with pearl onions, proscuitto, cheeses, salami, pepperoncini, and a bunch of stuff i don’t remember… i had an appetizer of pasta that was enough for at least 2, with large shrimps. and of course… warm italian bread. the food: excellent. the service: attentive. the setting: amidst a lush garden in the garden conservatory area at the gaylord. it’s inside, but feels like you’re outside reservations are recommended. see my pics at the link above.
