It’s been almost three years since my atrocious customer service experience at Sam’s, and there’s still a horrid taste in my mouth. I just read that they won’t be re-opening this location. Good riddance. Based on some of the other reviews, it sounds like Sam’s customer service has remained as crappy as ever. I hope they do a better job at their other locations. Treating your customers like shit is no way to run a business.

Sam’s had a fire and has been closed for a month. It is under repair and looks like it will eventually reopen. Fortunately, there’s a great new bar next door called Double Dogs that we went to instead. But that’s another review

With the exception of Nannette who is potentially one of the best servers I have ever had, the staff seems overworked/stretched too thin and it leads to not so great service. There have been multiple times that servers have mistakenly tried to charge us too much. The food is bad bar food.(my boyfriend wants me to say–«with the exception of the chicken herb pizza which is fantastic»). Almost every time I have been(for trivia) the boys at my table complain that the beer on tap doesn’t taste right. There are tons of TV’s here. Unfortunately there have been times during a big game where they refuse to change even ONETV to a different game… if 100TV’s are already watching the basketball game, one of them can be on baseball. Seriously. We used to go frequently for trivia but now that we found a better trivia group than Trivia Time. we avoid Sam’s.

Just tried this place for the first time last night and was happy to have found a great sports bar to watch the NBA playoffs! Good bar food, nice drink selection, affordable prices, friendly service, many TV screens to see your game of choice, lots of seating, good for two people and also good for groups, indoor/outdoor seating which is always a nice option when the weather is good! Also, free parking out back which makes it very convenient. Just be warned, there’s a parking monitor sitting in a car incognito in the parking lot shared by Sam’s and Bosco’s and if the monitor sees you go anywhere aside from Sam’s or Bosco’s then you get a ticket and a boot put on your car! If you do go to Sam’s or Bosco’s and the parking monitor boots your car, you can show your receipt and he’ll remove the boot at no charge.

I lived right around the corner from Sam’s for two years, and I can’t help but feel like other thirty-two years of my life have been a disappointment by comparison. Nowhere better to come after a hard day of studying to wash your worries away with a pitcher or three. Their cajun pepperoni was my favorite pizza in Nashville, which is really saying something considering Pizza Perfect was right down the road and one of my favorite pies of all time. Pro-tip: Unless you have some professional experience I would pass on the karaōke, because absolutely everyone who does it here just kills it 100% of the time.

This place has a few redeeming qualities such as: 1. Good beer selection/everything drink selection 2. Generally great screens 3. Great seating options 4. Super fast food 5. Decent parking in the back. However, there are major draw backs that makes this a place a I rather not go to unless I have to, but I will happily go to if friends make me go here: 1. The food is overly salty and seasoned like you won’t believe… 2. Servers bust their butt, but on busy nights, there just aren’t enough of them. Or even on slow, nights, there still aren’t enough. Poor people management is one of my biggest pet peeves. 3. They are actually kinda rude to smaller groups. I understand you want to make money, but reservations are reservations. 4. Granted there are a lot of good things on the menu, the overall quality of them is average to slightly above average at best. Basic lesson… — GOSOMEWHEREELSEIFYOUCAN…

The cajun pepperoni pizza is my favorite. They also have the best wings, especially in the medium sweet and spicy sauce! Prices are great, lots of TVs to watch the games, and great drinks specials everyday. Parking in the back is covenient, especially for hillsboro village.

We parked in Sam’s parking lot with plans to check out Lucky Belly, see a movie at the Belcourt, then have a drink at Sam’s. After Lucky Belly, we stop by the car to pick up the tickets and the car was booted. The guy on the lot watched me walk away without a word but now he demands $ 50 cash to remove the boot. Were there signs? Yes … and parking is tight there too. But there are better ways to treat customers. A pay lot. A ticketing system. A word to customers who are about to leave their car. I get it. but it’s intimidating to have a couple of big guys demanding money or you don’t get your car back. Needless to say, we didn’t go to Sam’s and Sam’s has lost our business for good. With all the places popping up in Nashville, I hope that $ 50 takes you a long way, Sam’s. A word to all my Unilocal and Facebook friends, help me boycott Sam’s.

This was the first place we tried for vacation. Had half price draft which was great. The burgers were amazing. They were so big I had to take half with me. Fries are also pretty good. The only downfall was the service. We wanted to pay and leave but the waitress was talking and wiping down menus for a long while. We also asked to order after she brought beers and she said she would be right back however she stopped by four other tables first. Would have given five stars if it was only based on food.

Your average bar and grill. Standard«pub food» and standard bar/beer selections. Nothing special, nothing bad. We’ll go if we’re in the area and want a brew, but won’t go out of our way to stop here.

For not being a «pizza place» their pizza is spot on. Notably the cajun pepperoni pizza. Knocks it out of the ballpark. And as the name implies, a great place to watch a game, especially in the fall for college football. While Nashville doesn’t have an official Ohio State bar, there’s always a nice little following of buckeyes gathered here for games which is another plus in my eyes!

I go here all the time because the food is simply awesome and they have TVs visible from every seat in the house but its not overstimulating. The ribs are super tender and fall off the bone, the pizza is rock solid, pasta is perfect and the sandwiches that I have tried are awesome(especially the turkey with capers). I think the burger is just okay but I love the fries. Decent service and prices. Highly recommend.

Solid place for good beer selection, decent bar type food and to catch some sports or unwind after work. You want a beefy burger and a mug of suds? Stop in Sam’s. If you are a wanna be «foodie» and critique the shit out of every thing? Best move along. This place is an average Joe’s spot.

We stopped here recently after leaving Cabana because we weren’t quite ready for the night to end, and looking to get a nightcap(or three). We order whiskeys, and when prompted on a specific type we clarified the well(house) would be fine. A bit later in the evening we asked our waitress what kind of well whiskey they were using since it tasted pretty good for a Bellow’s or Evan Williams — turns out they’d run out of their well and were serving Woodford Reserve. Of course, since the waitress made no comment of this during the ordering process we presumed that she was charging us well prices and serving Woodford since the restaurant had run out of their well. Thus it was a fun surprise when we received our bill and learned the waitress was charging us Woodford prices all night. That’s bush league, and I will never give this place my business ever again. First and only time in my life I have ever not tipped a server.

Was finally able to check out the scene of Hillsboro Village and I’m quite impressed. Good food, great people watching, and friendly staff. I’d say try to get a table on the patio if possible. I can’t quite imagine my great experience without it! Karaōke on Friday nights! Even saw a few families and were there having a great time with their kids.

This is really what a sports bar should be. Good food, lots of TVs, pitchers of beer, and IT’S NOT A CHAIN! So, a quick little history… I’ve been going to this place since it was called ‘Jonathan’s’, which was a long time ago. There may have been times that I have eaten lunch AND dinner here, but I’m not going to admit to anything. Sam’s is in the heart of Hillsboro Village, which is great. This place gets SLAMMED every weekend for college football and basketball, but its a really fun place to watch any game. The food is good and VERY reasonably priced. Pretty good beer selection with some decent ones on tap. There’s some good happy hour deals to be had here as well. So, unlike a lot of other sports bars, Sam’s has really good food, making it a good choice even if there isn’t a game that you want to watch. And given their viewing set up, watching a game here is even better.

Still can’t say enough about this place after all the times I’ve been here. Great atmosphere to come and watch a game, have some drinks, and enjoy some good food… Yes, it’s all typical bar food, but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menus. They’re pizza is remarkably good for a bar, and is actually one of the better pizzas in town, in my opinion. The staff here is always great, and very accommodating. If there’s a game you want on, they’ll put it on for you immediately. Great beer selection. Tons of stuff you’re familiar with, plus a ton of local brews that are sure to please. If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a game with some great company and good atmosphere, this is your place.

A sports bar in a great neighborhood, lots of TV’s, beer how can this be a bad place to stop? I guess the answer would be, it’s really a great place to stop at for the three things listed. This is a pretty great place. Big open area, clean, pretty waitresses, good beer, tv’s…all good. I guess if I wouldn’t have ordered the chicken tenders I would have left with a different opinion of the place. The chicken finders were horrible, not to pricey which was good because they were really bad. They were breaded with a corn-flake like crust, really soggy and bland! The chicken was undercooked and chewy but I didn’t die! I would stop here again to watch some basketball and grab a beer but I would take my hunger somewhere else. KT

We stopped here for a snack and drink so my friend could watch some game. It was fairly easy to get a seat(for 7) and the atmosphere was pretty fun and casual. However, our server hated us for being alive. She looked so annoyed every time we asked for something. I could understand if there was no one in there and she was going to be sent home, but the place was pretty busy so I’m not sure why she was so unhappy. Aside from the service, we tried the fried pickles(solid), nachos(surprisingly good with lots of toppings), queso(fine) and mozzarella sticks(hard to mess those up). Probably wouldn’t go back here if there are other options.

As far as sports bars go Sam’s is one of the best. Once they converted to a smoke free environment, it was even better! If you are looking for a place to watch a game, Sam’s is your place. The location has a great front area with large windows they open on nice days, and they have a private room upstairs that holds 25 people comfortably and you can rent out for $ 75.00. The food is good; your typical salads, wraps, burgers, plus pizza. I can recommend the spicy pepperoni pizza, and you can also build your own for a little bit extra. During the weekends and sporting events, Sam’s is ALWAYS full of people, so if you plan to see a championship game, head there early! The servers do a good job with how busy the bar is, and stay on top of the tables. Sam’s is great if you are looking for a casual place to watch a game!
