This restaurant is a small semi-formal restaurant located on the corner of an intersection. We ate here on Christmas Eve 2015, and the staff was great because they actually catered to us as we were the only and last customers of the night. We called with a last minute reservation, and despite not having children menus, the cooks were able to whip up French fries, chicken strips, and mac n cheese for the kiddos. I believe we were there until about midnight. I tried their French and onion soup, and braised beef rib; an outstanding choice because it was so soft and moist which filled my tastebuds with satisfaction and joy. It went well with the red wine. The sauce, mash potatoes, and vegetables mixed into the dish was also quite amazing. By the time I was done, my plate looked clean with nothing, but the bare rib bone. My family tried some other entrees, but I don’t think anything stood out which was utter or even worth mentioning. Therefore, my experience was the four stars from reservation, service, and food. I would definite recommend this place for formal dinning with family or friends!

My husband and I shared the shrimp and crab cakes as an appetizer. They were delicious along with the sauce that accompanies them. I had the braised beef short rib as my entrée and it was so tender. I am looking forward to going back for happy hour.

Service was great here but the food was unsatisfactory. Not only bland but cheese wasn’t melted, meat wasn’t properly cooked, etc. I’m not even a picky eater but I would never go back and pay for this food.

Food was just ok. Atmosphere was lacking for how much they were charging for their food. Will not be back. Way over priced. I would pay a lot of the food was great, but it is not. I felt like it was the fine dining version of pied piper eatery.

We can’t say enough great things about this neighborhood bistro. The owners make coming here a wonderful experience and the food is always stellar. You won’t be disappointed!

Porter House Bistro is our favorite restaurant and happy hour place, bar none. We not only go there for special occasions but also to take guests as an example of the wonderful experiences that make up life in East Nashville. The food is outstanding and Deborah, our server, treats us as honored guests. After a Saturday of running errands it’s delightful to stop in for a glass of wine and a crème brûlée — life is good!

Very solid French cooking. Solid wine list. Very friendly service. This chef knows how to cook. A neighborhood gem.

Fabulous! The food, the staff, the chef/owner Sweet place really and prices are great! Will be back soon. I’d throw some white linen cloths on the tables and scatter a few more candles and when your food arrives you’ll think you are in Paris.

This place was amazing! This little bistro is a perfect place for a date night! I ordered the Panko encrusted salmon and it was prepared excellently. My wife ordered the hangar steak with mashed potatoes which were on point. Definitely coming back to this place!

Quaint place with personal atmosphere. The owner was our waitress. Food was delicious and prepared with attention to detail. Their aim was to please and they hit the target.

This place is absolutely Delicious. If you want classic french food, this is the place to come in Nashville. The Gnocchi that comes with the lamb is out of this world! Its almost better than the lamb chops itself! My girlfriend had the hanger steak and boy was that one of the best pieces of steak that she has ever had so were the fries. I would say with confidence that these fries are the best in Nashville as they are cooked in animal fat. It would be a crime to eat them with ketchup. I haven’t had brunch here yet but everyone keeps talking about it. Yes I know parking can be a hassle here but it is worth it ! will be coming back to have brunch on the weekend!

We were immediately seated by the friendly hostess and the waiter was incredibly courteous as he suggested items and drinks from the menu. Our food arrived approximately 10 minutes after we order and it had a great taste. Midway through our meal the Chef came out to speak with us and requested feedback on anything he could improve upon. This is a very classy local establishment that genuinely cares about the food and the people.

We came here for brunch while on vacation and we both got the eggs Benedict since the hostess said it was great. It did not disappoint. I’ve had eggs Benedict probably 100 times in my life, on multiple continents, it’s my go-to order when it’s on the menu and this was probably the best eggs Benedict I have ever had. I even personally thanked the chef which is not something I’ve done in a long time. Bravo!

Cute restaurant with good food! This location has been a few different places, but clean slate walked in here with a good attitude! We had just missed happy hour which has some $ 5.00 drinks and apps. We started with the Wedge($ 10) which was massive and super yummy. What great blue cheese. Next up I had some truffle pasta($ 17) that was a huge portion, very flavorful but you have to like truffle. I felt that the pasta was a bit OVER cooked but, over all good. My husband got the burger and wow it looked great. But the real winner was the fries. These taste like frites you get in Europe. So so good. We were stuffed. Basic décor, just one waitress and one cook /chef. I’d go back because I checked out the brunch menu and it looked awesome. I hope this place makes it!

I’m a big fan and frequent patron of this replacement for the late Café Fundamental. Good traditional French bistro fare and some modern twists please the palette again and again. The chef is friendly and will often accommodate special requests. Go for brunch, dinner, or the new happy hour Tuesday through Friday at 5pm. It’s one of my East Nashville staples.

This is my new favorite place! I’ve been there several times and it’s always been delicious! Very friendly staff, friendly chef who has come out to speak to us just about every time! I’ve tried several things on the menu, none to disappoint. The burger and the steak are my favorites, but the Coq Au Vin is close in the running! The Rueben is by far best I’ve ever had! Great job guys! Keep up the good work!

I really hope this place improves. Seriously. It’s a cute little place in a great neighborhood. But: 1) They need to hire more staff. Bare bones staff cannot mix drinks, pour wine, remove dishes, bring stuff to the table like pepper mill, more bread, take back a meal to be fixed. Not enough staff to help make it flow more efficiently. 2) Prices do not reflect dishes. For instance, two of my guests ordered a pork and vegetable plate. Both of them forked around, looked for the pork. There was maybe 3 ounces of pork in the dish? 3) The Bouillabaisse was too skimpy for the price. Those of us that have ordered this dish in other restaurants, are used to large bowls of broth, lots of shrimp and clams and seafood, with a chunk of crusty bread on the side for slurping up the broth. This bowl was a salad bowl and salmon seemed to be the big item. All wrong. Disappointing. 4) I don’t want to continue blasting this place and showing all of the disappointment from my friends. I’m going to stop here without bringing attention to my table. I just hope — really hope that they get their shit together and do some BIG improvements. Too many restaurants are coming to the neighborhood and they need to eek out a spot amongst foodies. Our appetites were not satiated. ** If management is reading this, please make some marked improvements. I don’t want to see you fold before you blossom. Hire more staff, put more meat in the dishes, find deeper bowls for the fish soup and add some wonderful crusty bread to the dish… Come on. I know you’ve been to NY before!!! None of us will be returning, until improvements have been made.

Went here last night with my husband, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law for dinner. We arrived around 6:30 were sat at a table near the center, because they were expecting several reservations. Our server greeted us and we ordered drinks, which we received quickly, but we also noticed that she was acting as bartender too. In fact, they all were. A bit later we ordered our appetizers and meals. The appetizers came out pretty quickly and tasted fine(although my pregnant sister-in-law ordered«frites» and what she got were just fries) and then we waited… Around 8 or so my husband went to our server and asked about our meals. They rushed to check on them and brought them out right away. Unfortunately, we could all tell they had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. One of us ordered a chicken dish and got about 3 small fatty chunks of chicken and tons of rubbery pasta. One ordered the big seafood dish that’s only served on the weekends and it was somewhat lukewarm. You get the gist. The front of house manager came to apologize and was very kind. She explained that they were short staffed, etc. The«chef» was rather rude. A customer sitting nearby told us she looooves the place and it’s neeeever like that and we should come on a weekday when they aren’t so busy. Honestly, it seemed like they were just severely inexperienced. And we will not be returning.

I love this place. The service is super friendly. On the second visit they already knew my daughter by name. Both brunch and dinner have been lovely. We took my Dad for his birthday recently and he keeps talking about the steak. I had the pork and potatoes au gratin which were flavorful and cooked perfectly. We never felt rushed and were able to enjoy a relaxing family night out. They are also willing to cook up something special for my picky eater. Go there and enjoy!

Had a great experience here this past Friday night. We had a reservation(party of 11 for my wife’s 40th birthday) across the street at the Family Wash that mysteriously disappeared. Long story(you can read my Family Wash review), but we walked out checking our phones to see where we could go. Someone in our party looked up and saw Porter House directly across the street. We walked in and the place was practically empty. We were seated immediately and treated to a wonderful dinner and great cocktails. The staff was friendly and helpful and even helped guide us to a few more places for drinks to try after dinner. The chef even came out and talked with us after our meal and even took pictures of us with our phones before we left. I started with the«East Nashville» cocktail which was awesome. Rye whiskey with Calvados and bitters. Wow. I didn’t have an appetizer but did try my friend’s wedge salad which was amazing. I had the rack of lamb with potatoes gratin, green beans, and carrots. The portions weren’t huge, but it was excellent and just the right size even for a big guy like me. We were very fortunate to find this place and couldn’t have asked for a better place to kick off our Nashville weekend. Great décor, great food and cocktails, great staff. Check it out.
