Winnsboro Bakery & Cafe

This location is no longer open in Mt. Vernon. The Winnsboro Bakery in Winnsboro is now a pub/​restaurant with the bar at the rear of the building. It is now called Brewbaker’s. Sandwich and salad menu still pretty much the same — and that’s good because dinner items and service is awful. We were served inedible salmon salad and a very chewy steak after a long wait. I have frequented this place through several owners and incarnations and my advice is this — enjoy their sandwiches and desserts at lunch and go to the pub for a beer (lousy wine selection) and the occasional live music, but steer clear of the dinner menu. It’s really a shame that so much money seems to have been spent on the place to change what used to be an excellent little bakery/​restaurant.

Great bakery with a decent sandwich shop. Great atmosphere, good food. Worthwhile — especially if you’re going for dessert (s).

The bakery is exceptional, and the food is spectacular.
Only is small town America can one get this for so cheap, with the charm of an old general store/​café.
Go for the half salad, so you can save room for one of the 15+ desserts baked fresh daily.
