Our Place

Great little place for lunch! This place is the REASON I go to downtown Mt Vernon. It was the first place I ate when we first visited Mt Vernon, and it made a great impression.

Sometimes sandwiches just don’t really cut it for a good meal but not the case here. Everything is homemade I had the roast beef she had the chicken salad. I could have eaten 3 of each. So good! Great prices and how can you not love a place that gives you a brownie bite at end of the meal!

Incredible food, impeccable service, awesome atmosphere. 5 stars Isn’t enough. Can’t wait to have lunch there again.

Fresh, chunky homemade chicken salad sandwich on slightly sweet whole wheat bread was best I ever had. Light, crispy homemade chips were very good and brownie bite teaser was scrumptious! Slow service that got one order wrong was acceptable in bz small town café with very friendly folks

Living in the DFW and having traveled the world I did not expect one of the best lunches of all time in this little town, but that is exactly what I got. Fresh made bread with a buttery undertone, homemade chips (not salty or greasy), and a friendly staff (Lynn would make anyone feel at home). While not much in thee way of décor, the food is made with every detail perfected from the seasoning of the meat to the complimentary brownie bite at the end of the meal. Only downside is the hours: Tue-​Fri 12 – 3.

«Our place» is one of our favorites place to eat! The lemon pie is to die for! But all the food is amazing! Defiantly check them out!

Definitely a five star small town, down home style lunch spot. Home cooking at its best.
My Cobb salad on a ciabatta roll was terrific as were the home made potato chips. Very satisfying. Wish we had room to try one of the desserts as they just have to be good.
Located on the main square across from the county courthouse, it is worth a visit for lunch. We are told that dinner is available on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Wonderful! Home made food, great service! We will stop here any time we are headed on a road trip on hwy 30.

Excellent food and service! Who would have thought that I would find Redfish in northeast Texas?! Metro filet was also excellent, as was the lemon icebox pie.

Fabulous find 2 miles off-​highway 30. Well worth the drive. A marvelous grilled ham and cheese sandwich followed by home made coconut pie. Order the pie early since they run out. Very reasonable prices. Will come back!

Just opposite the downtown square in downtown Mt. Vernon, one will find the restaurant OUR PLACE. This was our first visit. Mainly sandwichs and soups. We opted for the roast beef sandwich on sourdough bread and the chicken salad sandwich on wheat bread. The breads were fresh and the chicken salad on the bread was hugh. I opted to not have the horseradish on the beef however some may like that. Each came with a dill pickle strip and home made freshly cooked potato chips. They were a little greasy other wise they were delicious. The sourdough bread had been coated with butter and toasted on a grill making the bread also greasy. The restaurant had numerous call in orders while we were there. The service was great as the waitress came to our table at least half dozen times. Prices are comparable with big city prices. Parking on the street in front. I have given this place a high rating due to the fact there is limited dining downtown Mt. Vernon. The food is closer to a four star rather than 5 star.

What a cute place In a small town! Such friendly service and the food was very good. I give it five stars cause for what it is, it’s worth them. Not gourmet or knock your socks off but great food and warm happy feeling as soon as you walk in.

Oh my, oh my. Home made everything with a brownie bite just for extra sweetness. Everything we tried was amazing!

Great spot. Enjoyed the pasta and shrimp. The Texas Queso Sticks appetizer was great! Service was very good — small town friendly. We will be back.
