Our Place has the most amazing daily, home cooked, lunch specials you’ll find in NE Texas. I come here every chance I can when in Mt Vernon. The servers bring positivity into your day and the atmosphere is relaxing and clean!
Great job to everyone at «Our Place» and Unilocalers, don’t do fast food with this amazing place right down town!

This place has the best chicken salad sandwich I have ever eaten.
It is served on marble rye bread which is excellent. Burgers are fresh hand patted ½ pound and excellent. Roast beef on sourdough with horseradish spread is excellent. The servers are very friendly!

This is a great casual lunch spot tucked into the south side of the down town square. The lunch menu is a typical soup/​salad/​sandwich café menu, however there are a few gems.
1) Pretzel Burger — It’s a cheese burger with sauteed mushrooms and onions served on a bun made of pretzel dough, its crisp on the outside and chewy in the center. Skip the mayo and mustard and go for the soft cheese instead.
2) Grilled Roast Beef — It’s on toasted bread with a horse radish spread and grilled red onions.
3) Any salad — They are large salads with great toppings.
They are open 2 nights a week (Fri — Sat) for dinner, however I have not ventured in, so I can’t say anything up or down about the menu.
