I’ll need to update this once I try lunch here, as this review is only based on breakfast. A simple, but satisfying array of egg sandwiches. Friendly atmosphere and old school kind of vibe. It helps that there aren’t many alternatives for breakfast sandwiches in the area. Until then, this place gets the job done.

We always use Alan’s for all of our company luncheons as well as daily for our staff. Great food for the past 25 years. Alan goes over and above and the quality is beyond 5 stars. Rita Lamar

Best breakfast on the ave HANDSDOWN. I worked across the Street for about a year and could not pass up their breakfast wraps at least 4x a week. Their cold cut selection is on point — fair pricing and quality food Everytime. The staff is always pleasant and eager to please and they carry Arizona Energy! Not many places do but that makes me a happy man. The lunch sandwich options are great too. Sometimes they leave me a bit hungry but I’m just a carnivore and need double the portion

Love this place. Alan has the traditional deli items and many custom sandwiches. Good service too.

The WORST deli I have ever been to in my entire life. Nice ppl, but I cannot for the life of me understand why they are still around. Nothing is fresh there. I asked for a simple taylor ham, egg, & cheese… the Taylor ham was undercooked & soggy… meat was pale & not fried enough w/an abundance of oil. The bread was hard & stale & they even forgot the cheese. The prices are high & unreasonable esp since their food is not good or fresh at all. I gave it 1 star for nice employees, but seriously… they need to set higher standards for the prices they are charging.

Love this deli. The best macaroni salad anywhere. They have great sandwiches as well. The owner you’ll find on the grill.

Great breakfast and prompt delivery, even though our delivery driver got a bit confused he still got to us in good time and everything was still pretty hot. He was also cheerful! We had an awesome omelette and their potatoes were amazing. Their baguette french toast was also well worth it and their bagels were great. They were very generous with the butter — and it was real butter! We also had a sausage/egg/cheese bagel sandwich and that was great too — even cold. Decent coffee and all in all, a good place for breakfast/brunch.

DONOT order online. An hour and a half later, the order was delivered with one breakfast sandwich missing and the other cold(cold fried eggs). The food is very good but the service is terrible. Don’t offer delivery or online ordering if you can’t do it right!

Ordered the Joe Piscopo sloppy joe with turkey and pastrami on marbled rye bread. Sandwich was superb, hit the spot. The right size, excellent bread and perfect amount of everything. Huge menu selection as well. My fiancé had the Midland and she loved it. Staff was friendly and food came out quickly. Highly recommend this place if you want a quality deli sandwich, especially the sloppy joe.

Excellent food and a good little Deli. God I miss good delicatessens so much. The East Coast is full of so much good food you can’t afford to be crappy. Pretty excellent prices. Service was a little rough and confusing. Very busy inside.

They always have deals and specials to check before ordering. My advice is to always go for the special sandwiches. The regular cold subs and standard sandwiches are filled with pre packed meat so you tend to not get a proportional sandwich. Enjoy.

I used to like this place… and I want to STILL like it… but I can’t pretend it is still good. It has gone downhill — or maybe other places in the area have gone uphill. Either way, the sandwiches and sides are average at best — definitely not quality deli sandwiches. The meat is pre-sliced and put into portions in the morning so if you get there after 12 or 1 the meat looks dry etc. Not sure why this is done. Every other deli except Subway or Blimpie slices to order. Then today I figured I’d try a bagel(haven’t been there in a while). The bagel was terrible. It tasted like a mass produce/pre frozen bagel(i.e. bread shaped into a bagel shape). With the amount of good bagel places around, why would you sell this? That’s not gonna fly in Jersey… if you are a Jersey deli you need legit bagels. Overall it just feels like less and less care is going into the upkeep. This review is not meant to be hurtful — but just honest. Alan’s has been a staple for a long time. But the truth is, there are a lot of really great sandwich places in downtown now and this type of quality just isn’t going to cut the mustard(pun intended). I’d recommend Belgiovines(awesome), HLS, Beyond Pita or even Royal Bagel as alternatives. I’m going to try again in a few months in the hopes that the owners start turning it around.

Alan’s is awesome. It’s everything you expect from a good neighborhood sandwich shop. The first time I went in, I got a bacon, egg, and cheese on my way to work. Ended up standing there and talking to Alan for 20 minutes, and was late to work. Been back a dozen times. Cool guy, good and inexpensive food. Definitely check it out.

Nice place. Alan was very nice guy. 2 people working there was very patient and answer to all the questions. We got 2 cold sandwiches, 2 drinks and chips. We had Groupon. Sandwiches was great, they had all kind of bread choices and they built sandwich before your eyes. They give you plenty of right ingredients(meat, fresh vegetables, etc). They also servers sandwiches with side salad(macaroni, potato, and etc) included with price of a sandwich Price was good and it was easy to get to location. If they were in my neighborhood, I would make this place my regular.

This is a little hole in the wall place with excellent food. I usually get the turkey sandwich on marble rye. The vegetables are very fresh. I always feel good after eating a meal at this place. The prices are great. The cashiers are friendly. The patrons are friendly. My only complaints are the following: They give you a side of macaroni or potato salad with your sandwich. I wish the side was bigger even if that meant charging more money. Also, if you go on the weekend, the line can be long.

Stopped in with my son on 3÷12÷11 and felt at home from the moment I walked through the door. I assume that the person who served us was Alan, but I’m not sure. My son had a chicken cutlet sandwich and I had the Thanksgiving sandwich. My son and I were quite pleased. My sandwich was really good! The place is clean and has a very cozy and welcoming feel to it. I recommend it! Alan — don’t change a thing!
