This has been my go to yarn store for years. It is the CHEERS of knitting shops. Jan, the owner, remembers your name, your family your projects and what’s new that you might be interested in. You are given time and space to browse, never crowded with pressure to buy. Can always get help. If they are busy, and can’t sit down with you, always suggest time that would be good for you to come in for a sit down that may be quiet. Everyone who works there is friendly, helpful and all are great teachers. Other reviews by one-time customers, didn’t give them a chance. I have friends who come there from Walpole, Stoneham, and Wilmimgton. Walpole and Stoneham even drove to Milton for weekly classes. Glad Snow Goose is my knitting store!

This store has the best selection of needles. However that isn’t enough to really save them. The store is so cramped with things, there isn’t really a counter because it’s covered with pattern books. I was afraid that my baby bump was going to knock them over. I stood waiting for 5 minutes to pay while the woman sitting there was talking to a friend about patterns. It wouldn’t have been that hard to say«just a second while I help this customer» Customer service has consistently been like that. If the workers were nicer and the store was less cluttered they’d probably do much better business because of the great selection.

This is the second time I stopped in. The first time was near closing. The second time I had some time to browse. Snow Goose has lots of yarn, some patterns, a workplace for classes(it has a variety of them), etc. I was not impressed with the service at all. I was in the store, browsing for a bit before the clerk asked if I needed anything. When I asked if she had a particular yarn(Farmhouse), she pointed me to the two skeins she had and that was all. When I asked for a particular type, she said they didn’t have anymore of the Farmhouse. That was all. No suggestions to try another yarn that was similar, no offer to order anything… nothing. And it was such an ordeal for her to wait for me that she made it seem like I was holding her up. The proximity to Lower Mills is nice, but in terms of quality customer service, and the love of knitting(I mean, I asked for similar yarn at the Stitch House and, while they didn’t have it, they showed me some yarn that was even better than what I needed. And I stayed and spent money!), I will do my shopping for yarn exclusively at my local yarn store, The Stitch House, where I feel welcome. All the time.

There is so much jammed in this store is hard to focus on one thing: the knitted samples hanging from the ceiling, the crates of yarn that line walls, the binders of patterns on the table. The selection is varied and well-chosen. The staff knows their stuff, that’s for sure, and there’s a good array of needles, notions, accessories. It’s just a little bit of a pain to get to by public trans when there are similarly good shops on the T. Their hours are also lame; always call to make sure they’re open since I think they close at 5 on Saturday. However, if you’re in the neighborhood or doing food shopping, it’s a fun shop to visit.

I was shopping at the Fruit Center Marketplace and then I saw the sign for Snow Goose Yarns. I was compelled to go in. The shop was stuffed with yarn. The owner was very helpful in finding yarn based on what you are making and answered lots of questions. I am a new knitter, but it seemed to me, that the shop had a good selection of yarn. There wasn’t a large selection of books but there were a few there. I definitely had a kid in a candy store look when I entered the shop.
