OMG, I must review this place just to vent my frustration. I can’t imagine a worse cafeteria anywhere. The food is frequently stale, and ALWAYS inedible, uneatable, unpalatable, unwholesome, disagreeable, distasteful, indigestible, NASTY, savorless, bitter, repulsive, tasteless, unappetizing… okay, that’s all I got out of . If you know of more fitting and extreme synonyms, please inspire me. No word is too extreme to describe the horror of this place. And… it’s not even cheap.

I get 2 eggs, hash browns, and sometimes bacon for breakfast. Chicken caesar salad for lunch. That’s it. I watched my contractor co-worker(of 9 months) gain like 15 lbs during his stay because of the frequent visits to the Asian section and the grill.

Despite the name, this is just an employee cafeteria. If you have a Sun badge, there’s nothing I need to tell you about this place. If you don’t, then you can’t eat here anyway. But just in case you’re curious: the quality of preparation is above average, the variety sucks.

Ahh my work’s café. Far too often do I have the pleasure of sampling its goods. Eating here reminds me of my stint in the dorms, and I actually liked the food there! Perhaps I’m biased then. The menu does get monotonous however. Here are my tips for having a somewhat pleasant experience at Gypsy Café: — Go see Johnny at the Asian section. His effervescent personality always gives me a smile. «Hey hello my friend, how are you… Ok take care, bye bye»… Watch out for some of the food there, it may be deep fried e.g. the spicy eggplant dish. I can usually get by with a single-item and rice(less than $ 5). — Get a salad, not from the open bar, but from where they mix and toss it for you. Get the spring mix salad, but ask to add chicken. They pile it high and with the chicken, it would probably be a $ 8-$ 10 salad from the salad bar but for $ 6. — If you share an office like I do, I’d advise you stay away from the burrito/taco bar, and whenever they server«Indian». Otherwise, get the taco combo, which has the same portions as the burrito but for $ 4.50. I’d still stay away from what they call«Indian». Naan bread, psssh. my ass! — The grill is an easy pleaser, but I personally try to stay away from it. They usually have some $ 3 deals, though I doubt a grilled cheese sandwich is worth $ 3. — The sandwich bar is a quick fix, but just like the salad bar, it’s sold by the pound so watch out or you’re bound to have a $ 10 sandwich. From here, I usually get 2 slices of turkey, a couple rounds of prosciutto, lettuce, tomatos, on wheat and it usually is less than $ 4 add a $ 2 soup and you’ve got a pretty good meal. — Don’t miss sushi payday fridays! Many people skip out on payday fridays and go out to eat. The sushi guy is actually quite proficient. I usually get the deluxe which comes with 3 Cali roll cuts, and 4 of your choice(nigiri or hand roll). I usually choose salmon hand rolls cuz they’re a bit more filling than the nigiri sushi. And if you like ikura(salmon roe) like me, don’t forget to ask for it! — Watch out for the single-serving peanut butter, they’re 50 cents each!
