Really authentic German/Austrian restaurant– both atmosphere and food! Great service and atmosphere!

The guy who gave it a 1 star gave 5 guys burgers 4 stars. That’s all that needs to be said about Gary, who you’ll find savoring the take out wings from Winn Dixie. He wouldn’t know a fantastic schnitzel if he tripped over one. This restaurant is constantly packed because the food is totally amazing! Best German meal you’ll find ANYWHERE in Florida. Yes it’s small, but so was my Mother’s kitchen in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Great atmosphere, very attentive staff and the food was great. Could not believe how busy this place was. I was very impressed. Food was spot on

Way to small and cramped. Dirty looking. Half inch of gray dust on all displayed knick knacks. Service was slow. Food was bland and not very hot. Will not return. Terrible excuse for German food. Sorry… just not good at all. Building is old and run down. Not much parking space. Right on highway. I wish I could give it a negative 5 star rating. That bad.

not that great, schnitzel had no flavor and the french fries were over seasoned with paprika.

I swung by on a Weds(check the hours), hoping for a nice departure from the dominant Mexican/Seafood/Italian themes around Melbourne. It was great! Inside, the ambience was quiet and very Bavarian. The menu was full of fun choices(but not the typical emphasis on wurst), and the Heffeweisen was cold and satisfying. The waitress would have been happy if I had ordered«auf Deutsch» and the music sounded like a best hits of Octoberfest– which added to the ambience. I had the Saurbraten, with spaetzel and red cabbage(pardon the spelling). Tasted delicious, and there were several strong alternatives on the menu to this choice. Sometimes, a German restaurant is the place to go for comfort food(and good beer). Edelweiss did not disappoint, and I have no doubt I’ll return the next time I visit Melbourne(provided it’s not Monday or Tuesday).

My husband is German and was anxious to visit Edelweiss after reading reviews claiming authentic German cooking. The place was unpretentious with oilcloth on the tables and cuckoo clocks on the walls. The servers did indeed wear the typical Bavarian outfits. We started with Hofbräuhaus lager which is always a superb beer. I had sauerbraten with kartoffelknoedel and red cabbage. It was a delicious. My husband had schweinhaxen with potato salad, sauerkraut, and the potato dumpling. He claimed the best we have had outside of Germany. If that wasn’t enough we ended with their last piece of apple strudel. Yum! And he was able to speak a little German. Would definitely suggest a visit if you enjoy German food.

We thoroughly enjoyed this spot. It does take a little longer because they are hand pounding the schnitzel to order. It is worth the extra time. They give you huge portions of darn tasty food. The only bummer was that by 6pm they had already run out of cucumber salad and apple strudel. We will just have to get it the next time. The schnitzel and German potato salad are outstanding. We will be back next time and we might share so we can have dessert.

My boyfriend is from Vienna and has been in the states for a little over 2 years. I thought he’d enjoy some authentic German food for Valentine’s. It was not busy and we got in right away. We did have to wait a bit for service. However, it was delicious and he said that it was definitely authentic.

Love it… Very authentic … The German beers on tap were wonderful… Had pretzels for appetizer with German mustard… 5 star … Jeager schnitzel with potato pancake is a must… German chocolate cake to die for… Everything is made fresh … U will hear pleasant German music and in the background u can hear the work from the kitchen of pounding sounds of them making schnitzel …

Just a gem of a place. No wonder they were packed at 5:30. Waitstaff is the nicest and most genuine I’ve seen since I can remember. It’s so authentic. German owned. Owner was drinking beer and conversing. I had the Jaeger Schnitzel with fries and potato salad. Which everything was so good and savory. I slowed my eating so I could enjoy it more. I’d been dying for German food for so long and it was so worth it! It was $ 29 for me alone and a Lg beer but ya get what you pay for.

Amazing, Authentic German food in a very cozy setting. The Paprika Schnitzel was fantastic along with the side of Homemade Spaetzle & Red Cabbage that I got. I can’t wait to go back and try their other main options. I especially want to try every single one of their side dishes too.

This place has a small capacity size. So don’t be upset if you have to wait a little bit. It’s well worth the wait as this place has the most amazing German food. The cook is as authentic as possible and the wait staff was accommodating. Imported beers, fresh food, short menu and comfy feel makes this place a must. The desserts are great too. I suggest trying the apple strudel with ice cream.

Very homey tavern décor. Authentic food– our favorite is the Sauerbraten– so savory, tangy, and tasty! That gravy is worth driving for! The pretzels are soft and delicious and the Radler is cool, crisp, and refreshing! The warm potato salad has a wonderful bacon and vinegar flavor that compliment each other, any of their salads have a nice«tang» to them without losing integrity of flavor. The curry bratwurst is a surprising change of flavor, worth a try! Any of the soups are flavorful, light, satisfying choices. I cannot say enough great things about this place!
