I went to Peking Tokyo about 10,000 times before they closed but never did manage to write them a review. They are gone but not forgotten! I miss their amazing BBQ pork chow mein, prawns with black bean sauce, and a damn fine California roll. *sigh* I love you Peking!

Sushi and Chinese food. now that’s awesome. We did not eat in the restaurant but the inside is just I wouldn’t say beautiful, but definitely bright. Christmas lights everywhere and a toy train around the sushi bar. The place takes fun and fancy and meets in the middle. I ordered the Alaska roll and the spicy tuna roll. Both were cheap and very good. The Alaska roll was simple. Just salmon, avocado and cucumber. It was very good but I loved the spicy tuna roll much better, which had marinated spicy tuna, cucumber and avocado. They added a little extra heat on top which was nice. I had some of my girlfriends barbeque pork chow mein which was awesome. I prefer that over any other chow mein I’ve ever had. I definitely see why my girlfriend loves this place so much and I can’t wait to go back.

Food is always fresh, served hot and the portions are big — usually end up taking some home. Their regular menu is a little expensive but the Bento Box and Dinner specials are under $ 10. Plus they have a full Sushi bar!

My work’s annual holiday party is held here. We rented out the entire restaurant for the afternoon to fit our 60+ employees in for a white elephant holiday It was my first year attending and I was a bit skeptical about going to a Chinese/Japanese fusion place. My instinct was correct, but it still didn’t prevent me from having a good time at the party. FOOD –Buffet-style assembly line with your typical Chinese American foods – chow mein, stir friend beef & veggies, sweet and sour pork, pepper fried chicken, fried rice, etc. The Japanese touch were the CA rolls. –The chow mein was actually decent: not too oily, enough flavor, and mixed well with veggies and beef. –Favorite soup was the egg flower, however coworkers enjoyed the hot & sour one as well. I think I would’ve liked that too if they had a side of red vinegar to put in. — Pass along the CA rolls! They weren’t too fresh and kind of bland. SERVICE All the ladies at the restaurant reminded me of my aunts. They would mill around our tables making sure we had enough water to drink and cleared up the plates quickly. Sometimes they were a little bit too efficient – a waitress took away my soup before I was done. Personally, I will not come here again on my own. I would rather go to Three Brothers in Pleasant Hill for good Chinese food for dinner, or Imperial Garden in Concord for Chinese dim sum. Basically there are better Chinese places in the area! Additionally, you can drive 20 minutes further to Oakland for even better Chinese food.

i went for the first time to order a friend who was craving Chinese Food the lady who took my order wanted to charge me a ridicoulous price for 3 items. I asked her if any of the 2 items came with rice. Finally we were able to work up a order that wasn’t so expensive still came to $ 20.00 for for1 person. I could have gone to Panda Express. My friend began to eat the food which he thought had a funny smell so he ate some of it. So later on in the evening he decided to eat a Egg Roll which was in a bag with Fortune Cookies? He said the smell was so bad he couldn’t even continue to eat it. He decided to eat some more of his Sweet and Sour Pork and after the Egg Roll that didn’t set so well. Make the story short he became very ill from this food in about 45 minutes, which continued on for a day and a half with vomiting. So no we will not patronize this establishment again.

Peking Tokyo is my favorite local spot for chinese food. I frequently go there for take out… your order is ready to go in less than 15 minutes and the food is great. I’ve eaten in a couple of times and I’d say service is average. The sushi is not so good. I tried it once and their speciality is definitley chinese! Stick with chinese take out and you’ll be happy.

Frankly, don’t remember the food here except that it was typical for American Chinese. Not great, but not bad either. I do remember that the lunch special was a great price. We had the opportunity to order take-out a few days later and enjoy it while visiting family. At the time I was a bit high after having a strong margarita. The food sure tasted great then! Still can’t remember what it was though. I would not order the Japanese food here. Very leery about Japanese food at non-Japanese places. It’s not like it’s hard to find a decent Japanese place.

DONOTEATHERE! The food made us violently ill. The menu boasts both Japanese and Chinese food. My friend ordered a sushi Bento Box. I ordered a vegetarian Bento BOX to go, I had to beg for them to add TOFU. The waitress kept telling me no we don’t to that, «you want chicken??» despite repeatedly telling her I am allergic to shrimp and am a vegetarian. The vegetable tempura was greasy, limp and soggy, the vegetables had no flavor whatsoever. The tofy was deep fried and verry greasy, the flavor RANCIDOIL. Within 20 minutes of eating the food I was in the bathroom vomitting. My friends sushi smelled fishy and had no flavor. She ended up with stomach cramps and diarrhea. The miso soup tasted like colored water. The place seemed clean, the menu had soo many choices it was overwhelming! I wish I would have read the Unilocal reviews prior to eating here. The food tastes as though it has been sitting for days.

Saw the 20% off for sushi and I was starving so I had to try… OMG my rolls were poorly made and just tasted like crap. They’re like freakin’ failing apart before I get them to my mouth -.-” Worst sushi I’ve EVER had. Tastes like nothing and looks like it was just thrown together. Bleh, I’m not going there again for sushi. I sure hope I don’t get sick from it. But there seemed to be a lot of people ordering the chinese food to-go. So I don’t know if it’s really worth it to go back for that… Eh probably not. Lol :0 I regret being tempted by that 20% off.

It’s sad to see that some of the reviews are so awful and makes me wonder if these people really know what real food is. I always make a point to stop by Peking Tokyo whenever I have to make a trip to Martinez from San Francisco. The restaurant offers truly authentic Chinese food and the Sashi is always fresh with the best quality. If you are a foodie, you will know exactly what I’m talking about. Give these things a try: From the sushi bar — Sashimi appetizers, my favorite is the Hamachi and Salmon Nigiri. If you like unagi(bbq eel), the Martinez roll is to die for during avocado season. I love the Tonkatsu bento box as well. Nicely marinaded and deep fried to perfection. The meat is juicy and moist. From the kitchen — The Kung Pao chicken is truly authentic compared to any of the other restaurants in the Bay Area. There are no fillers such as zuchinni or bell peppers. Juicy chunks of chicken stir fried with chopped scallions and chili pepper and loaded with roasted peanuts. The Hot and Sour soup is loaded with ingredients and it’s thick and not watery like most of the restaurants. So give it a try if you haven’t been.

DON’T ORDERTHESUSHI!!! I have been trying a new sushi Restaurant every Sunday and I have to say that this one is the one that impressed me the least so far. We ordered four different rolls. All which were just OK. One roll we ordered was the Tiger roll. It was so dry that you could not get it down even soaked in soy sauce. Seriously it was like there was saw dust in the roll. The service was just OK. Not really impressed with that either. Not sure if the waitress had a cold or allergies but was a little grumpy and kept sniffing when she finally decided to come back to our table. I don’t think I will be going back to try it again. Next week we are trying Happy Roll.

The Chinese-Japanese fusion restaurants usually means food from both nationalities would just be sub-par, and while that is true for some items here… some of their food does stand out. In a predomintely middle-aged to senior-aged American city, your basic foods have to be good, even though you do not normally eat them. For example: California Roll: Here, I’ve had no better kani-type CA roll. Cucumber and avocado are fresh, and the crab is broken down with a flavored mayo… its awesome. Rolled in masago after… it has plenty of punch. HK Style Pan Fried Noodle: Wow. So flavorful… the noodles are fried to perfection, and ur basic combination toppings are mixed well in a nice brown sauce. Tempura; Battered and fried decently… While it doesn’t stand out by any means, its better than some places, who let their tempura sit and get soggy. Sashimi: Fresh, no fishy taste… so that’s great in my book! Teriyaki: Both chicken and beef teriyaki are cooked well, and really tender. S&S Pork: If you ask for the sauce on the side… it really makes the dish 100 times better. Your Battered Pork stays crispy, and you can just dip it in the sauce. Overalll, a decent place, and probably one of the better chinese/japanese locations on this side of Martinez. A little pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

I’m going to tell you a very disappointing story. We had high hopes when we initially had the idea of coming here but it ended rather badly. My husband and I had a lovely evening planned for ourselves. We wanted some delicious Chinese food and then we wanted to go over and get some delicious Ian’s Yogurt next door. We were promptly seated at a table right by the front door. They have tons of Christmas lights lining the walls in the front. It could be best described as a fireworks show all over the walls. Also, the door dings every time someone comes in. So I don’t recommend sitting in those front seats. The service took forever. I almost thought they forgot about us. Finally we were able to order. My husband got the Honey Walnut Prawns and I got the two item Bento box with Tempura and Terriaki Chicken. My husband also ordered a Screwdriver from their full bar. It took forever for him to get. So then my husband got his food and I still didn’t have mine. And he ate some and waited, then ate a little more. Then I noticed at least 3 walk in take out orders all get their food and leave before I even got my food or was spoken to again by anyone working in the place. I was able to take a few bites of my husbands while waiting but he had about two bites left and I still didn’t have my food. Finally he waved someone down and said«Look, I’m almost done and my wife still doesn’t have her food.» Then they all start yelling at each other in Chinese and I said,“Stop yelling at each other and get my fucking food.”(I never cuss in my reviews but I was pissed off people.) A few moments later my food came. My husband was done and then finished his drink while I ate. I will say at least what was served was obviously just cooked and very hot but it should have been served that way at least 30 minutes sooner. The food was good, I will give them that much but I refuse to reward bad service and behavior again. We wont be coming back.

I always suspect that a restaurant that serves both Japanese and Chinese food will not do justice to either of them. I have always had takeout food from this restaurant and it was okay. I decided to go and sit down for lunch. The interior of the rest was nice, and the Bento Box with tonkatsu and sashimi was good. I would go back and order this again it was better than the Chinese take out.

I’ve been going to this place for years. I was first introduced to this restaurant by my sister and ever since I’ve been taking my friends their and my cousins. the price is a little bit on the expensive side but the portions are so worth it. Their rolls are HUGE and so are their hand rolls. I’ve been going to this place for so long I didn’t even know the real name of this place, my sister and I always called it Mo’s because thats the name of the sushi chef and he’s a pretty quiet guy but once you start to talk to him he’s pretty awesome. their menu choice is between chinese and japanese dishes. I usually go their for their rolls and hand rolls. if your a sushi lover try the titanic and the phoenix roll they are my two favorites =] and the cool thing is Mo already knows what I’m going to order so less time deciding and more time talking to the people I’m with. The place might be a little empty but thats the way my friends and I like it. I feel like we are the only people in the restaurant and so they can just focus on our orders. overall I really enjoy this place and so do my friends and cousins. and I recently took some of my coworkers their and they seemed to enjoy it too.
