Amazing. Came here with my boyfriend Blake C. He summarized it all in his review below.

Wow. Restaurant makes me want to go back to other restaurants and give lower ratings. So good it doesn’t compare. We started off with a fired gyoza appetizer. Very good but can’t remember last time I had a bad fried gyoza. Next we had the tropical roll. This had spicy tuna, white tuna, avocado, caviar and banana tempura on top with a sweet and spicy sauce. Amazing. Again I want to go back to other rated sushi places Ive been and downgrade them. Last we finished with the duck entrée. The duck was crispy on the outside and super juicy on the inside. The dish had pinapples on the side which balanced the spice well. We left completely full and meal was only $ 39 which is great for dinner for 2. Will be back for sure

There’s usually a wait on the weekends, but it’s worth it. The sushi is excellent. It’s BYOB, so grab a bottle of wine at Mahwah Liquors located behind 7⁄11 and enjoy your meal. You won’t be sorry.

Every thing very good! Good food, quick service. Skip the banana dessert. Had spider, Dallas and dynamite rolls. Appetizers were rock shrimp, eggplant and shumai.

Sushi is delicious. Spicy mayo is perfect. One of the best spicy salmon rolls I have tasted. I took off a star because the hostesses aren’t that friendly.

Very fresh and consistently great sushi in a small shopping center in Mahwah. Reasonable lunch deal — 2 or 3 rolls with soup and salad for 10 – 12 dollars. It can get pretty crowded on the weekend and is a fairly small in size so may want to make a reservation for a Friday or Saturday night. It’s a BYO and also does take out!

Just your basic average sushi spot. Not too costly but it’s nothing too special. Their banana tempura & shumai are delicious. If you are seated in the bottom half booth section it can be very cluttered because you are literally two feet away from the people next to you. BYOB place. There really isn’t anything to hype about– decent if you are craving sushi and in close proximity

I got food poisoning from there today. I ordered the rainbow roll and shrimp tempura roll for lunch, so there’s no telling which fish made me sick. I have eaten sushi for over 20 years and this has never happened. I suppose if you eat enough sushi, it is bound to happen at some point. I am very sure it was this meal since breakfast was 6 hours prior to eating here, and my husband and I literally split our plate at breakfast and he is fine. The upside is that I called the restaurant and informed them(to try to save some other poor soul), and they were very apologetic, offered to refund my meal, and promised to inform the chef.

For Mahwah area this is fantastic sushi restaurant. Every roll comes 7 pieces and with so much fish. Mouth full. Super fresh and tasty. My dad not big on sushi and he loved every roll he had. Great service. Cute restaurant. Any other places on rt 17 Mahwah more like burger and diner places. 2 min from rt 17 South. And good price !!! Thanks

Went here on a very busy Saturday night & had to wait about 15 minutes. I don’t mind waiting but it was hard to get any attention from staff to even ask for a table. The woman working the front was very busy filling to go orders & just didn’t have time to seat people. One we were seated some one came over quickly & brought us drinks. The restaurant is nicely decorated & intimate. Would be a nice place for a date. For appetizers we got gyoza, crunchy crunchy crunchy & I got a Kani salad. Gyoza was delicious & crispy. The crunchy crunchy crunchy was different & I really enjoyed it, I suggest getting if you wanna try something new. The Kani salad was a huge disappointment. It comes over greens that have dressing on them which clashes with the taste of the crab. Also most Kani salads tend to be dressed in a spicy mayo, but this was dry & unappetizing. As for sushi I just got one speciality roll after filling up on appetizers. I got one of the specials, the Alyssa roll. The fish was fresh but wow was it hot! If you get a roll with spicy sauce just be warned, it lacks some serious heat. I could barely taste my food after that last bite. So to sum things up, great sushi, but needs to figure things out on the service front. For a busy place they handled themselves pretty well but could definitely improve!

Just had sushi and sashimi dinner here. Fish was very plain with no real flavor. It kind of tasted like thawed frozen fish. $ 25 for this is definitely not worth it. I will need to explore more to find a better Japanese restaurant.

Sorry, I hate to be that guy who leaves bad reviews. But sometimes you have to do it. In short, the cuts of the fishes were ordinary, but the sushi rice was just plain off wrong and awful. Not being nit picky here because the following notes are already assumed in every sushi joint: The sushi rice should not be falling apart as you lift up the sushi even before you put soy sauce on them – and where’s the vinegar in the rice? In addition, unless specified not to, nigiri sushi should already have wasabi in them. I am not a kid. Some of the cuts had the pieces ripping apart before it even reached my mouth. That’s a no go. If you want great sushi, I’m afraid to say that my experience here did not leave me with a positive impression. Masa in Allendale is a MUCH better option(similar prices), or Sakura Bana(though closed on Mondays).

Can you please not put the sushi on top of the dinner box while you are waiting for me to pick my order. Nothing like warm sushi! Oh, and what was the jelly like substance wrapped around the tofu teriyaki? I ordered tofu with teriyaki sauce, not jelly! Sick all night and day. Thanks Nagoya!

We eat sushi every week at a local restaurant near home. And this was excellent! The sushi was fresh. The variety was great. We had excellent uni sushi with quail egg. The sushi dinner for 2 was wonderful. The service was good too. We enjoyed visiting with locals who were regulars and were treated like family by the employees. An overall great dinner experience!

When my coworkers and I first went to Nagoya, we legitimately thought it was closed. It’s very unassuming from the outside and is very dimly lit, so we were unsure if we’d actually be able to eat the sushi everyone raves about. Once inside though, we saw the place was PACKED, to the point that at noon on a Wednesday, we still had to wait 10 minutes for a table(not a huge wait, but this is in the middle of a strip mall that has 5 other places to eat). I ordered the Dynamite roll(with brown rice since for whatever reason I feel like that reduces calories and makes it healthy), two other coworkers got bento box lunch specials(one chicken teriyaki, one salmon teriyaki), another had the Napoleon roll, and my boss had the Millennium roll(wrapped in cucumber, so no rice). We also ordered the vegetable gyoza to split as a table(since everyone is way too nice over the fact that I’m the only one who doesn’t eat meat and ruins their chances of eating delish pork gyoza). The salads/appetizer/Miso soup that came with the boys’ Bento boxes arrived quickly, but we did wait a while for our actual rolls to come out(which isn’t a terrible sign at a sushi restaurant since you assume that means they’re making everything fresh, but we did have limited time before meetings so could have used a little more of a rush). Once the sushi/lunch did come out, there was no speaking at the table, half out of hunger, half out of how good everything was. My Dynamite roll was phenomenal(when you have spicy yellowtail and crunchy crab on top, it’s hard to not be thrilled by it), and everything tasted really fresh, which is huge with sushi. Have come back a few times(and will probably go for lunch tomorrow). Definitely a big fan. Good prices, large portions, and fresh sushi(plus walking distance from the office) = win all around.

This place is a hidden gem! I have been coming here for years and the sushi is always extremely fresh and the service is great. They always have new specials that are well priced in comparison to most sushi places. Highly recommend! The sushi sandwich this delicious, you get four, very filling large triangles,

It was a frigid valentines day night and we were greeted by a server who immediately showed us to the nearest seat they could find which was by the door. I looked all around me and enjoyed the low chatter of conversations that emitted happiness or content. The restaurant was dimly lit with background music of traditional Japanese instrumentals that lulled you into a quiet and peaceful state of mind if you stopped to listen to the music. I ordered the combination box which included two skewers of chicken yakitori, vegetable and shrimp tempura, rice, and three pieces of sushi. My favorite part of the meal was the vegetable tempura and I relished every bite! They were light, crispy, and not oily. My significant other had the red snapper which was breaded fish in this sweet and sour sauce. I kept picking at his meal the entire night and I fell in love with the after taste of immediate spicyness which was a pleasant surprise. Since it was the end of the night, they were all rushing to clean up everything and kick us out the door. My water was not refilled and I felt neglected. It must of been a long day for them since it was Valentines day, so we finished enjoying our meal and left. Overall, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was welcoming. The staff were accomodating yet distant so I felt like a leftover meal on the side.

I went tonight with a big group of friends and the place was really great! The atmosphere and the décor was lovely and the menu selection was pleasing. Nice romantic /cozy lighting and there’s a beautiful little wall fountain. There’s also a nice size sushi bar in back of the restaurant. I got to start miso soup, cucumber salad, and seaweed salad. The seaweed salad was delicious! It was my first time having it. Very light, tasty, and different. The soup was very tasty as well. Then I ordered a crab roll with cream cheese and a tempura shrimp roll with cucumber. Really good and fresh! The price was very reasonable! The service was great and its byob! Plenty of parking and it’s located in a strip mall. Highly recommend this place! Everyone in my group had a fabulous time. Will be back!

I’ve been visiting Nagoya for some years and always found it to be very good, fresh, clean and good value. You won’t get new wave, exotic sushi creations here but it’s many times better than the cheap places all around. That said prices are reasonable and portions good. I especially like the combination boxes they offer with sashimi, tempura, teriyaki, etc. all good. Lovely Japanese waitresses and always efficient and welcoming. Recommended.

The man and I are big-time sushi eaters and we tend to frequent our local haunts quite regularly. We decided to branch out and hit up Nagoya for a little Mahwah«fla-vah». Appetizer and sushi for us both. The dipping sauce for the gyoza appetizer could have used a little more flavor but the gyoza itself was satisfying. Entrees included the chirashi for me(including green salad and miso soup) and a mix of rolls/pieces for him. They put a different spin on the chirashi by adding a pickled cucumber salad to it. They also wrapped the yellowtail around pieces of cucumber, which I could have done without. He enjoyed his rolls and pieces. He was«oohing» and«ahhing» over the blue fin tuna. I love a man who«ooohs» and«ahhhs»… The atmosphere at Nagoya is nice… nicer than you would expect for a strip mall(it is located in the Ramapo Centre Strip Mall). Lots of Japanese influence, including the attire of the waitstaff. Ample seating for groups and intimate seating for couples and smaller parties. Service was very attentive and friendly. They refilled our water and our green tea very regularly. We liked that! Well done, Mahwah.
