I love that there is ONELASTPLACE left on earth. A real MOM and POP owned breakfast eatery. NOCATSUP! I love that they don’t serve one million variations of hot sauce and sugar infused catsup. The eggs are blended in an old fashion milk shake machine, eggs are cracked right there. I love that MOM doesn’t take any GUFF! If you are impatient, or too cute, mom will say, «Just wait a minute, I’ll be right there with your coffee.» Don’t bring your cell phone. The sign on the wall says something like, :Be considerate of the person next to you. Don’t talk on your phone. This IS the last place on earth; real newspapers, real food, a dutch door, a breeze. I am going BACK on SUNDAY fro sure!

Wow! We stopped in as everything else was packed-not a soul in the restaurant, so that was a bad sign! We were so hungry though, we thought we’d give it a try. After looking at the menu-when we could finally make out what the menu said! we realized we could not afford to eat there. A simple veggie omelet would have cost about $ 30!!! $ 9 for the eggs, $ 2 per veggie, $ 2 – 4 for cheese, plus $ 4 for any sauce(I always get salsa on a veggie omelet). My husband looked at a simple bacon and cheese omelet-would have been $ 18! Ummmm no. The food may have ended up being delicious and the service may have ended up great, but we didn’t stay long enough to find out. If we were at the Ahwahanee in Yosemite valley for the palace in sf for brunch, I could see spending $ 150 on breakfast for 3 of us. But to get basic omelets? No way.

This place was AWFUL! From the service to the food, there was absolutely nothing to write home about. It looks like a mom and pop shop and of course we always want to support small local businesses, but we will not be returning to this place. The woman serving had zero personality, seemed bothered that we had 3 children with us. Never offered waters. The food took a very long time and when it finally arrived, we asked for ketchup for the kids and got an abrupt No! When it was time to pay we asked if we could split the check and got another abrupt No! My eggs Benedict was smothered in Mayo, not hollandaise sauce. Very weird dining experience! Beware.

The service was horrible… it looks like a Mom & Pop place, but Mom is grumpy and pop is in the kitchen. Not a smile out of her the entire time… then when I decided not to take my leftovers and commented that I was full from my husbands muffins, she snarled that they were«his muffins anyway» then proceeded to go to the kitchen and comment that I could have just said I didn’t like the meal instead of making up a story. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy… such a disappointment…

This place was like a quaint bed and breakfast. Great, different menu. All the other customers who came in were regulars and they may offsets the usual. There were a lot of different dishes I wanted to try, so will be back. I don’t know why the Unilocal reviews are so bad. People are just picky. It is a little slower, but you can see them cooking from scratch. I’d rather have that any day over fast.

An excellent breakfast. Prepared with care resulting in elegant flavors of an expensive urban restaurant. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the Central Coast, Big Sur and Carmel Valley in days gone by(think of the films, ‘Sandpiper’, ‘Play Misty for Me’ and ‘Monterey Jazz Festival’) when jazz and wine flowed freely in bohemian dwellings all along highway 1. I love this place.

Worse restaurant experience EVER! Waitress/owner is so slow, refuses to refill tiny water glass. She almost slapped me when I asked for ketchup. Had to go back a 2nd time and pancakes came alone for $ 14. Side of bacon $ 6!!! You could buy a whole package for that! Over priced and rude, first time I’ve ever left a restaurant still hungry, especially after $ 20 each

Highly suggested if you have an appreciation for great food. If you are on the sensitive side and can’t handle an old school east coast mom and pop style restaurant I would pass. If your a low maintenance easy going person you’ll be fine.

We’ve lived in Los Osos for over a year and been wary of trying it out because of the dismal reviews on Unilocal.But. .. it seemed like the reviews were over surly owners and not the food itself, and the good recommendations on the food end made us guess that this place might just not be the local Denny’s and that upsets people. That’s exactly what we found. We went in, knowing that the owner(server) didn’t appreciate people making alterations to the food(which is pretty common in good restaurants), so when we decided we had to try the Sculptured Egg dish, and she said they usually did it with meat and I am a vegetarian, I thought I was SOL. But, being polite, and mentioning this, she said she could have it made veggie, no problem. The food took a bit, but she warned us — the«Sculptured Egg» dish just takes a while, but it is so unique we didn’t care. We settled in, enjoyed the décor, looked at the bay, looked at some chicken breed books, enjoyed our ripe and high quality fruit salad amuse bouche that came. The coffee was good and she kept it full without me even thinking to ask. The menu was creative and adventurous and A LOT of food. We got the sour dough French Toast croquettes, which was delicious, served with hot maple syrup and the famous Sculptured Egg. It was crazy creative: a meringue topped with two yolks and a curious assortment of veggies(and nuts — which was actually quite delicious and creative) and hashbrowns and cheese. It was something I’d expect to see on Master Chef demonstrating some advanced cooking techniques aside from the average plating(but who cares, this is a cozy breakfast joint). The flavors are not intense from the two dishes we had — they are subtle. I can see where people might want to dump some ketchup on there, but the owners are right in that you’re doing a major disservice to their vision. If you go to the place and expect it to be somewhere where you’ll get a well-crafted breakfast that’s both creative and totally crafted when you order it(even the muffins were baked to go with the meal — though I was disappointed in these, especially because they were touted so much on Unilocal), you will win. If you go in there expecting it to be like Dennys in that it’s fast and it’s just breakfast, the owners don’t really want you. This is a restaurant that wants customers that appreciates what they put out, and doesn’t treat them like a short order diner. That’s fair. So, if you’re interested in a food adventure, go, and make the trip from out of the area. If you just want a quick meal with some ambiance and hot sauce on top, hit Back Bay or Baywood Ale House if you’re in Los Osos.

If I could leave no stars I would. My husband and I stopped in, looked cozy. The female waitress was very rude and took a long time. We decided to leave instead of breakfast since the waitress was very cranky to everyone there and we wanted a more lively environment for our Sunday brunch. When we went to pay the $ 10.75 for our coffee and muffins, which we didn’t eat, we went to pay with credit card. She said min. Card is $ 10. Then we gave our ticket and card and she changed it to $ 20. We said fine, we will pay the min. But that is rude. Then her husband, I guess, from the kitchen said ya, what are you going to do about it. We said nothing, just pay and go. Then he started clucking at us like a chicken baiting my husband to fight him! Look, I’m from Canada, we are passing through, but we have never run out of a place so fast. We went up the street to a pub and had some sliders that were fantastic and the service was great. I’m pretty sure if there are any positive reviews, it’s from the owners hiring someone to post them, because I can’t imagine anyone ever going in there and returning after that experience, they would have no repeat customers.

A nice cozy place with great food. Everything here is homemade, including the sausage in the delicious omelette I had. They make spinach taste good! The restaurant is owned and run by a nice couple that have been here for years. They start you off with a dish of fresh fruit and the meal comes with fresh-baked muffins. So good!

I’ve lived in Los Osos for many years, but had never been to the Sculptured Egg before. Back Bay was packed and I was hungry, so I decided to give it a try. It’s a tiny place with a just handful of tables, and just two employees: the husband who cooks, and the wife who serves. The menu is short, which isn’t a bad thing in my book — less agonizing over what to order! I tried to order the eggs Benedict with bacon instead of ham(which is how I order it everywhere), and was told no. She said I could order eggs, bacon, and a side of hollandaise and assemble it myself; I opted to just order it with ham.(I don’t haaate ham, it’s just not my favorite, and I don’t care for it on Benedicts.) When my order came out, it looked delicious and I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, it tasted«funny», and it took me several bites to realize I was smelling and tasting mustard in the hollandaise sauce. I was so baffled by this that I Googled it when I got home, haha. Apparently, some people do put mustard in hollandaise. I have to say, I don’t care for it. After my Benedict request was denied, I intuited that this is not the type of place you ask for ketchup at. After reading a few reviews, I see I was right. The potatoes looked and were probably good, but I can’t eat potatoes without ketchup. Bummer. On the plus side, he poaches eggs very well. I’m sure a lot of the food here is quite good, actually, I just won’t be back. Not my kind of place. Breakfast without ketchup is blasphemy! ;P

If I could leave no stars I would’. The waitress was extremely rude and disrespectful, to the extent she was talking about customers that were sitting at the table waiting on their food and could hear her talking about them to the cook what made it worse was we found out she was the owner .SO out of line and unprofessional. Sadly would never return due to the service but food was great. Worst café on the coast

The service is horrible. The food is good but they don’t allow lemon in the water even if you ask for it. Also they do not allow ketchup, they say it’s an insult and get angry at you for asking for it. The prices are high for what you get and their hours are very limited. The place has a rustic country feel, which I generally like, but the cobwebs kill the cute country look. Although the food is good I wouldn’t go again.

WOW I feel truly blessed to have enjoyed the eggs Benedict on such a beautiful day in Los osos. Our server was charming and silly. The eggs Benedict… my oh my… Please do yourself a favor and drown yourself in their homemade hollandaise sauce. Get punched in the face by the sheer glory that is the Sculptured Egg. Enjoy

This has been a favorite family dining spot for decades. The sculptured eggs are a unique dining experience, and the couple that run the restaurant are charming and very creative. Come there when you have lots of time, as this is not a dine and dash kind of place. This is the experience of recapturing being in your feisty grandmother’s kitchen.

My husband and I found this little mom and pop restaurant a couple weeks ago due to there really not being a good breakfast place in Los Osos. I love it. The food is amazing since there is just the one chef and the service couldn’t be better, the is 1 waitress so you might have to wait a couple minutes if she is busy at another table. This is not a place to go if you are looking forna fastfood, chain style environment. This reminds me more of a southern style environment where no one is in a fast paced rush to eat and run. The pear sauce is to die for and the sourdough pancakes are to die for. We have made this our weekly place to eat. You can find us there every Sunday trying something new on the menu. Keep up the great job.

So yeah this place is rather interesting! We frequent Morro Bay en route to Big Sur, we came across this restaurant in summer 2014 our experience then was not very pleasant… my friend asked for KETCHUP and was rudely denied of it :/like«don’t you dare ask for ketchup here» so absolutely no condiments not even Tabasco. But I fell in love with their pancakes, so February 2015 we paid them another visit with No KETCHUP in mind we gladly had their omelet and delicious pancakes! It’s a mom and pop shop but I see that they’ve lost their passion for this place since it’s been around for ever and ever. The secret is to be really really nice to the lady/owner/waitress/cashier/bus girl/hostess and if you’re lucky you will get«service with a SMILE»!

This place is horrible!!! My wife, my daughter and I ate breakfast here this morning. The food is NASTY and a little expensive. The customer service is a train wreck. My wife tried to order oatmeal for our daughter the old lady server sarcastically replied«NO we don’t have oatmeal». Then my wife asked if they had grapes and the old hag says no, but brings us a fruit bowel with a few grapes. Finally it was time to pay for this awful food and crappy service. The lady brings our check and after waiting awhile for her to come back and get our credit card, my wife gets up and takes the bill and the card to the woman. The lady tells my wife to go sit back down and she will be with her in a minute! There was only one other couple in the place. My wife and I have never been treated so rudely at a restaurant until we ate at this shit hole!

Rude. Rude. Rude. The owner has a chip on his shoulder. Do not be surprised to be treated in a gruff and completely unacceptable manner. He even cursed at my girlfriend! Lol. Can you imagine! Stay far away. Hopefully it will close soon and something decent that we can all enjoy in this amazing community will come in!
