This is my breakfast go to spot. I order large beef bowl all the time and its been satisfaction every time. Just to mention, Willie, the manager, is doing his job and way beyond. He even asks me how was the meal when I walk out. This is the Japanese spirit! Thanks!

I ordered their teriyaki chicken bowl and the rice was cold and tasted really bad. I asked them to give me hotter rice and they brought a thermometer to test the temperature. I could not believe my eyes. They are so cheap. Then they said they don’t replace the rice because the temperature is fine. I’ll never buy their food again and I suggest you do the same.

Basically the fast food version of Japanese that tries not to seem like fast food. Located right next to the king of fast food that tries not to seem like fast food, Subway, this place adds a pleasant Asian addition to your selection in bombshelter. Don’t mind the 1000 calories or so from the large beef bowl. Just don’t look at it. I usually feel like the small bowl is too little and the large bowl I’m always taking back home for dinner(which isn’t too bad, actually). So it’s hard to say what size will suit you. Just have to go by experience. You can choose either the beef or the chicken bowl with or without vegetables. Please get the vegetables, you carnivores. You need that vitamin A! And if you are feeling especially adventurous, they usually have stuff like fried udon noodles or angus beef last time I went. Once I got their tilapia. Let’s just say I’m going to stop my adventures at Yoshinoya for a while. After you get your order, make sure you visit the condiments section, and by condiments I mean those sweet red ginger slices. Also, you can ask them for free water! Don’t forget since there are no water fountains around. Finally, make sure you don’t go during prime lunch time – and if you absolutely must, then don’t go at the very beginning of the hour. That is when everyone in South Campus gets out of their previous class and rushes in.

It’s nice that this place is here to offer a fast option for Asian food. I got a chicken teriyaki bowl and it came out within 3 minutes. It was a little salty but overall a satisfying meal. Portion size was medium, but it was cheap! There is a nice seating area inside and outside on a nice day. It gets very crowded during lunchtime because this location shares seating with a bunch of other lunch places.

Amazing calm chowder for a fast food chain. For any calm chowder lovers, it is a must try! I get it every time. The customer service here is okay. They are always busy and the workers are fairly young. Not the best service, but okay.

I only had $ 8 left on my Bruincard for dinner tonight(its finals week), and it was down to yoshinoya or subway since its late. Decided to give yoshinoya a 3rd chance, and Im never coming back. For $ 7.60, I am not even close to being full after ordering the«Big Beef bowl». Had I gone to subway, I wouldn’t have to worry about being hungry while studying(which is the worst). In short, too expensive, not enough food, and bad service.

The portions are smaller and prices are higher than other Yoshinoya locations. I guess that’s going to happen if you open up a store on a college campus. It’s decent and fast.

Whenever I visit the campus, I eat there. Good food, nice and helpful staff. Healthy food and great prices

The small beef bowl never fails to satisfy my cravings and is great for that college student budget!

if you can’t pronounciate my name it’s ok. But please don’t give me a new name without informing me, I feel unrespected. If you can’t get customers’ name right just use the number instead, yoshinoya. As for food, they are wayyyy too salty

Meh, fast food is fast food. The cashiers are always in a HUGEEEE rush. While I’m still putting away my change, the cashier has already called the next person to come up and I’m just awkwardly standing there trying to put my change away faster… I mean I guess it is fast food but it really doesn’t change that much since we’re waiting for food anyway… Place is alright if you’re on a quick lunch break and need something cheap to eat.

Tried the new lemon garlic tilapia plate with veggies. Fish was okay. Veggies were either steamed-to-death, boiled, or previously frozen and then steamed-to-death/boiled, or they were frozen, steamed-to-death, AND boiled. The lemon garlic sauce was also okay. Cutest thing how all the veggies were chopped to random sizes. Someone had chopped half the florets off the broccoli and left some bare branches like a mohawk floret. Weird, but cute. Even if it’s not tasty, it’s relatively healthy food compared to some other options. Not too much fats, sodium, etc. It’s survival food.

This was the most disgusting, under par, and nasty teriyaki bowl ever. Not only does Costco frozen teriyaki bowls taste better, but you know know FROZENFROZENFROZEN right after the first bite of your Yoshinoya bowl. Please don’t waste your money here. I will ensure you I can not wait for this place to be replaced. Stay away!

No matter what you comment about the restaurant, they are not gonna change since it is in south campus and we have no where else to go to during the break. Those guys behind the counter seems always have a bad day when I pay a visit. They literally don’t give a shit about you. And the food here is just not worth the money. If you got a thirty minutes break or more, go to Ackerman or anywhere else.

Every time I go for lunch at this particular location, the chicken skin to chicken ratio in my teriyaki bowl becomes more and more askew. It’s getting really gross actually. I’m talking, pieces of «chicken» that are JUST the skin. If I wanted a bowl of fat for lunch, I would’ve just gotten ice cream. So where’s all the actual chicken going? Do I not know the secret password to get actual white mean protein? Are the employees pilfering it for their own break time feasts? We may never know.

Vegetarians: Vegetables + rice = plain. Ask for teriyakki sauce or ponzu sauce if you question the chunkiness that is their teriyakki sauce. Other than that, you have nothing else to eat, soooo stick with Subway, Bombshelter Bistro, or Fusion. Pescetarians(that’s me): Grilled fish plate = not so bad. Downside is that it’s pricey, but it’s fish. Technically less expensive than the salmon from Bombshelter Bistro, however you get more bang for your buck at Yoshinoya in the sense that you’ve got a mother load of rice & a small portion of cabbage salad. Shrimp Tempura = not so bad either. I prefer the fish because it tastes slightly healthier. Still good. You get 2 long pieces of shrimp tempura & a bed of rice + that odd cabbage salad no one is a fan of. Therefore, CHOOSETHEFRESHVEGETABLESINSTEAD. TRUSTME. IT’S ANOPTION, THEYJUSTNEVERTELLYOU. LOUDNOISES. CAPSLOCK. Regular people: Can’t tell you what it tastes like because I’ve never had it, however, the meat looks realllly thinly sliced & of low quality. The chicken looks like frozen chicken. The yaki udon looks really good though. Might be made with excess oil. Place isn’t bad if you’re not feeling the other options. Service is friendly, lines aren’t ever too long. Food comes out pretty quickly. Read the menu properly because they don’t really ask you if you’d like that weird side salad or fresh vegetables instead or if you want ponzu or teriyakki sauce. The extra teriyakki sauce costs $ 0.60 I think… kind of expensive. The ponzu sauce is minimal… so…don’t do it??? Enhance your meal: Casually stroll over to Fusion & obliterate your food with Sriracha. You’re welcome.

When they announced that there was going to be a Yoshinoya on the UCLA campus, I thought I’d be eating here everyday because Yoshinoya seemed relatively healthy compared to the other junk on campus… but things went wrong when I saw their menu for the first time. This Yoshinoya did something that the Panda Express /Carls Jr /Sbarro on campus would never, never do… They put their calorie count in huge, bold letters next to their prices. It’s something like: 700 calories for a small bowl 1200 calories for a large plate Wait… its just a small bowl of rice and a few slices of chicken/beef. What are they putting into this stuff? So yes, those huge numbers on the menu always deters me from getting a hot bowl of steamed rice, veggies, and teriyaki chicken/beef. I’ve probably had it twice since it opened(I was too weak on those two occasions. I caved in.) and both times were pretty good. They are very, very fast at taking orders and getting the food out… It almost seems like the bowls were pre-made. It’s really just your typical USA Yoshinoya, although they have a smaller selection and the prices are a little bit higher because it’s on campus. As the saying goes, ignorance is bliss. They should’ve thought of that before.

I don’t remember Yoshinoya being this salty, but they’re quick, efficient, and reasonably tasty. Not super cheap compared to other locations, but this one is right in UCLA’s new South Campus center, so if you’re already at UCLA, you really can’t beat the convenience! Just don’t look too hard at the menu with their 1,000+ calories…

Haha, I am so happy this is on campus. You have no idea. If you’ve never tried Yoshinoya, don’t expect a gourmet Asian cuisine. It’s literally the Asian version of fast food(but a little better than Panda in my opinion). Get the combo bowl, it’s the best deal — both beef and chicken with rice and veggies for about $ 7. AND they give you HUGE portions. Add some ginger and pepper flakers(I believe you have to ask for this here) and you’re golden! The line is scary but it moves relatively quick … I just wish they hire more servers soon since there was only one girl … for about 50 students.(though I did go opening day.) Tip: this place is so confusing … so make sure you ask where the line ends or you’ll get a beat down by the other starving students.

When I heard that there was a Yoshinoya opening up on campus at UCLA I was SOEXCITED. I love Yoshinoya for its Asian fast food deliciousness. Seems like they still have a few logistical issues to figure out(like where the line begins/ends, etc) but it’s only their opening day to the public so I’m sure they’ll figure it out soon. Yum! This is now going to be my go-to quick lunch place. And the best part is it’s right in the Court of Sciences so I don’t even need to leave South Campus to treat myself to a $ 5 beef bowl: D
