This has to be the best Greek restaurant I have been to. Amazing fast service and the food was incredible. The squid appetizer is a must. The Greek platter has just about everything you would want. Staff there was incredibly polite, we will definitely be coming back for more.

This place is good. Service was excellent, I’m rating it four stars because maybe it was the plate i ordered, but i ordered lamb and it had an overwhelming tomato flavor, but it was great. I can’t remember the name of the strong greek authentic drink… it was interesting. Overall i totally recommend eating here if you want to try something different. Their portions are huge as well.

Everything was amazing. The service and especially the food. I highly recommend the chicken gyro. I absolutely loved and enjoyed every last bit of it. And for the appetizer you can’t go wrong with the flaming cheese platter and pita bread!

I think this place is about 2.5 stars. The food was way too overpriced for the portions you get. It also tasted just ok. They charge you for pita bread separately when you pay $ 16 to get the dips. I would not go back here. So many better places around the area.

Ulysses was my girlfriend’s favorite restaurant. Many of our first dates were here and we have fond memories, but it is has gone terribly downhill. The portions have become SOSMALL. It’s LA, so I don’t expect a mountain of food, but this has gotten out of hand. I had the lamb shank, which was amazing… but there were 5 pieces of chopped up fingerling potato and 5 or 6 pieces of «vegetables» that tasted like they had been defrosted from a frozen mix. I wouldn’t mind paying more for a larger, fresher tasting portion of sides. I need some indication that this will change or I won’t be back.

Problem number one: Ulysses was the ROMAN version of the Greek hero Odysseus. And this is a GREEK restaurant. Perhaps I should introduce you to my friend Wikipedia, or maybe my buddy Google. It may be wise to do more than 12 seconds of research before, you know, opening a business. Problem number two: today I learned that I have been ruined by the fabulous, authentic Greek food in my hometown of Chicago. When I go to a Greek restaurant, I just assume that I’m going to be greeted with fresh, flavorful appetizers. I would have been better off visiting the Trader Joe’s down the street and buying their prepackaged hummus, tzatziki, and skordalia. Quality would have been the same, plus I would have saved 20 bucks. And that’s not saying anything about the stewed okra drowning in oil or the damp paper towel masquerading as pita bread. Commendation number one: the lamb skewers were tasty, not too gamey, and the shrimp was decent. Commendation number two: nice atmosphere especially if you sit outside. Overall, not indelible but still pretty disappointing.

I always walk by this place when I am shopping at The Grove, and get tempted to eat there. Today was such a beautiful day and I had extra time on my hands, so I decided to go in. It was my 3rd time in this restaurant. But the last 2 times were years ago. I ordered the Rose Wine, which was just perfect! Not too sweet. Very dry. It was very refreshing for the hot day. I then ordered the grilled octopus, and a small side portion of greek salad. Food was good. The wine even better. I prefer lemon sauce in my greek salads, rather than vinegar, and this one had vinegar in it. But it was ok. Nice and crunchy. I feel like the octopus looked a little dry. Not sure that it was very fresh. But I am not an expert in cooking/eating grilled octopus so I can’t for sure judge. Best part about it was that the food, the drink, the ambiance took me back home to Turkey. I imagined sitting at a fish restaurant by the beach. It was lovely.

I debated over giving them four stars but I’m going with three instead. The food was good and if I were judging solely on the food I would rate them a 4.5. But it’s more than just the food, the service was good except for the fact that they felt the need to charge for every little thing. We ordered the Caviar dip as an appetizer and was served with pita bread. The pita bread was so good and fluffy we had it all. The waitress ask if we wanted more and we said yes but of course it was 1.50 for pita bread. The pita bread should be free as most places are. I order the gyro and my boyfriend ordered the kebob plate. The gyro was pretty big but the kebob plate was a very small portion almost looked like it was off the kids menu. We then ordered dessert with the Unilocal check in and I asked for ice cream to go with it. I saw on the menu it was 1.50 extra for ice cream on the side of the doughnut balls. But of course since they were free she charged the ice cream at full price instead of a side($ 7!)! This place is good but be careful when you ask for favors or extras because you’ll defiantly be charged for everything. I probably won’t be back.

Mario our waiter was exceptional! The food and live music were a great equation for an amazing Greek experience. The overall vibe of the restaurant was like stepping into another country, romantic and fun. Great date night or for family. My girlfriend and I loved the moussaka and the desert wine Mario recommended was so delicious :) We will be making this our Greek go to for sure. Ask Mario about Greek islands and mythology he’s part of the charisma of this great place.

Our waters were kept filled the entire time which was a huge plus! I was surprised I liked this place so much because the reviews are only like 3.5 stars. I will say the salad was a bit too saucey. Way too much dressing. But the moussaka(sp?) was INCREDIBLE. I got the veggie one and it was so light and tasty. Pricey, so not good enough to come back often, but I enjoyed my meal here. My Uncle got a chicken pasta that he loved also.

You know… I’ve gone to UV on multiple occasions after my previous Unilocal review and I was a bit underwhelmed with the food… So I sort of stopped going. That being said, I went to dinner with friends the other night, and while I really just wanted to go to the Cheesecake Factory because you know the food will always be decent, one of my friends said«I thought we were doing Greek?» We strolled in, were seated rather quickly and the rest is a blur because the company was great, but what was even better was the FOOD! I ordered the grilled salmon(surprise surprise), I’ve never ordered it here before… And I have to say, WOW! That was definitely some of the best salmon I have ever had! Melt in your mouth juicy! My fiancé, who has been on a mission to find the BESTGYRO in LA(to mirror his taste bud experience in Edinburgh), ordered the lamb gyro and when we left, he regaled over how tasty his meal was… Not the best thing ever, but for him to comment positively on food is like winning the 20 million dollar jack pot! So it looks like I may once again be recommending UV to people who want to dine at The Grove… And it looks like I will probably be going back far more often!

Location is great next to Farmer Market and the owner(and waiters and guitar player) are all Greek and friendly people! I’m picky when it comes to pasta, but the Village pasta smells and tastes wholly Mediterranean with capellini pasta and Kalamata olives. Lamb gyro is generous and cooked to the perfection. Deserts are Greek, so suuuper sweet and not my favorite. 4 Stars!!! Luigius — Thor of Unilocal Energy

To start I wasn’t impressed as my waiter was a bit short and rude plus the bus-boy was literally like fresh off the boat… The feta dip and bread however, made up for the rough start. We all ordered Gyros. Both lamb and chicken: Chicken: very moist but bland. I was expecting more flavor… Disappointing :( Lamb: did have flavor but was a bit dryer than I like Tips: try ordering a plate with more variety Fries: the most YUMMY thing on my plate. Made from pure potatoes and had great seasoning, basil, salt, and pepper! Really really good! Improvements: better service and more flavor in food! As much as I want to suggest going to Voyage, I would say try somewhere else as it is The Farmers Market, there are a lot of great options elsewhere!

This place was kind of special to me because it was where we had lunch the day my husband and I officially became a couple over 7 years ago, long before my Unilocal!days. I had a vegetarian sandwich/gyro that I recall was very tasty, and my husband had something with lamb. The place has always been kind of pricey but above-average Mediterranean. Then, we walked around The Grove/Farmer’s Market… this was also back in the day when there weren’t a zillion people there and you could actually sit down. Fast-forward, we have a kiddo now, and we’re taking my in-laws out. The Grove is a hot mess, although beautifully decorated for the holidays already in early November. We came in to Ulysses at 5PM for an early dinner, we are cramped inside the restaurant, and everything takes forever — even the pita bread appetizer. Keep in mind, it’s 5PM and the place is not that busy. I ended up getting salmon, which had good flavor, but one of the meals did not come in until everyone else was literally done with theirs. So sucky! I could tell the waiter was concerned, but he never came to update us and pretty much avoided the table until the food came out. As much as I want to come out and enjoy places like these, it’s not worth the trouble, expense, crowds, etc. I will always remember our special day here, though!

Great meal here. Check-in for a free dessert, fried dough in cinnamon honey sauce. Yummmm. The three spread appetizer was amazing. Served with Über fresh pita was a spicy feta, a garlic potato and a kalamata olive and fig. We couldn’t get enough of it. The Greek plates are large combo platters with Greek potatoes, hummus, tatziki, a stuffed grape leave, a fresh, crunchy Greek salad and spanakopita. I had it with lamb, he had it with chicken. The lamb was ground guros, very tasty. His chicken was sliced breast which looked a little dry. Great service, outdoor patio or inside seating.

More like 2.5 stars for overpriced dishes, but I’ll bump it up for the convenience of the restaurant and the cleanliness. This is a nice restaurant located just outside the farmer’s market/food court, perfect for people watching. BF and I came as we were debating between here or the middle eastern joints for some kebabs. Waiters here were professional, though not what I would call friendly(no smiles :(But that’s okay I guess). Here’s what we got: Greek style salad with beef: I was expecting some type of mixed greens, but it was really just cucumbers with a few tomatoes and other veggies. Not saying it’s bad – it’s actually quite fresh and dressing is nice and light – but smaller than what I’d expect for what I was paying. It seems more of a side dish with a big slab of feta(tangy if you like it that way). The cubes of beef were kinda dry for me, but it was okay. Lamb kebab entrée: One stick(stick removed) of lamb, made medium rare with some sparse grilled veggies and a cup of rice. Lamb flavor was pretty decent – i liked it more than my beef – but ultimately lacking once again for the price we pay. Lou – dessert thing: We got little fried balls of dough drenched in a honey-cinnamon sauce. I would say this was the best dish(and free with check in from Unilocal!) Nice and crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. The honey sauce was very lightly and just sweet enough to complement the breading. Overall, I think I’d rather pay the same price and get a little more from the joints inside the food court/farmers market. Food here is quite overpriced and we ended up eating a second meal anyway :\ Quality is pretty good though and vegetables are fresh.

I was referred to come visit that place. I ordered the Greek plate its combination of(Grape leaves, spanakopita, Greek salad, and grilled chicken, yogurt salad) $ 26 I don’t recommend the Grilled chicken, it was very plain and free from any flavor or spices the spanakopita is was rich in flavor and the portion was very decent. The Grilled Octopus plate is very SMALL, the quality is excellent Ambiance– Really cool and cozy Prices– Quality– Ok/Good

I’ve passed by this place numerous times during all my visits to The Grove, but never stopped by for one reason or another. I had dinner here for the first time last night after being overwhelmed with the crowd at the churrascaria inside the Farmer’s Market. My friend and I were trying to figure out where to eat and since we’ve dined at pretty much all the places at the grove we decided to eat here since we both had never been. I’m so glad we decided on this place. It was just before dinner rush so there outside seating available. We sat by the corner with a full view of all the tourists walking by. Shortly after being seated, Petros came over and told us about the night’s specials. We decided to not partake and instead shared an order of the mussels and a Greek Plate with lamb. Verdict: Mussels — soooooooooooo daaaaaaaaaaaamn goooooooooooood. I was bummed I had to share the plate with my friend. I honestly could’ve finished the whole order on my own. We used the bread they gave us to dip in the sauce. Whatever white sauce they used to cook the mussels in was delicious. I will definitely order this again on my next visit. Greek Plate — on point. We got it with lamb and it also came with hummus, tzatziki, dolma, spanakopita, Greek salad & potatoes. In all honesty, the lamb was the best I’ve ever had. Typically, what I’ve had at other places were super salty. Not the lamb here. The salad was my favorite side dish. Everything was great taste wise, but that salad was ooooooweeeeee. The only thing I wasn’t too fond of was the spanakopita because it was too rich. It wasn’t bad, I just didn’t dig it. Price — a little on the pricey side, but it’s to be expected when the place is located right in the middle of The Grove which is basically tourist central. I thought the food was worth the price. Service — perfection. Petros did a great job as did the guys working outside. Special shoutout to the busboys who cleared our plates/bowls whenever we finished a dish. And props to the guy who made sure everyone had water. I spoke Spanish to him and he instantly loved me. He legit refilled my glass after 5 sips. It was cute. Well done team.
