So you’re in the mood to head to the corner of Melrose and La Brea. Don’t ask why. But ahhhh, the agony! So many things on that corner are vying for your attention! Pink’s Hot Dogs for one. Pinkberry for two. But I dare you to step outside one rosy color in search of some AWESOME meatless cuisine at Tuly’s. Apparently Tuly’s is the new pink. Best way to describe this place is that it’s a small kosher dairy/pareve bakery café with a wall of cookies you reach for yourself, plus a glass display of kosher cakes, and a sweetheart of a guy named Tuly who runs the place and will make you a delicious panini. I tried both kinds, one with cheese and black olives and it reminded me of pizza, the other with feta cheese and pesto and was diviniest(that’s the superlative of a superlative). Oh, and let’s rewind for a sec. Did I say«wall of cookies»? YES I DID! Isn’t that enough reason to stop by? Prices are very very reasonable. It’s entirely possible to go in there and spend $ 5 for a panini, or $ 5 on cookies, and either way you’re happy. Plus no indigestion from the jalapeño dog at Pink’s. There’s also a smoothie machine that makes lemonade slushies and cappuccino slushies. They’re slusherific!!! Final thought: you must try their chocolate chip danish. Because they don’t skimp on the most important ingredient of that pastry. no wait. !!! Tuly, I’m so yours Truly, Marni
