I just went here to buy a bottle of blue semi-perminant hair dye. I was never given a receipt, and I was never told all sales final. I wanted to color my fringe blue. One of my co-workers already had blue haircolor, so I wanted to return my UNOPENED still in plastic product. They don’t give refunds, and they clearly list that on about a 5×7 inch card located below waist level at the register. I am a hairstylist in the area, and I am disgusted at their customer service and their attitudes. My shop that I work at sends this beauty supply store customers on a daily basis. I will never send another client to this store again, and I will fully stock myself with any products I use. Just FYI for everybody else who is not my client. Target and rite-aid stock a full section of professional beauty products products that anybody would need. And they can be returned if they are opened if you dislike the product. So there. Avoid these cheep bastards plain and simple. Update: Regardng the quality of their products. I opened the dye to look at it. It must have been on the shelf for quite a while. There were dried up dark blue chunks at the top. The product they sold me took horribly on my hair. I foiled and lightened my hair, and within a single wash the product went from blue to aquamarine. This was absolutely not the color I wanted.

The guys who work here are super helpful and really nice. I am a huge fan of OPI nail polish and they have a great selection to choose from. Always finding new colors I don’t have, which is hard because I have a huge selection of nail polish. This store is a bit pricey but with the 15% off student discount it really helps.

I went in here looking for some thinner for my Seche Vite top coat(I hate it when it starts getting very viscous…), but sadly, they don’t sell any thinners here, which is a star off, but according to the owners here, any thinners will damage the quality of the top coat, so oh well! I did buy a new bottle here though, and with a 15% student discount, I won’t complain too much about the prices. What bumps my would be 3 star rating to 4 is the customer service. The man behing the counter was very polite and helped me choose a great new shade for myself(OPI’s Vampsterdam) — it matched my skin tone perfectly. They always have the latest colors in stock, and I’ll definitely be back to check out more recommendations(since I always stand in front of the nail polish counter forever trying to pick a new color…)

The guys here are friendly and helpful. They have a good selection of beauty care items for both men and women, many of which are high-end. I also highly recommend the hair stylist Sassoon, who cuts here every Tuesday.

I have been here a few times and have always found the man behind the counter to be very polite and helpful. They’re not huge, but they have a good selection and very conveniently located — within walking distance for anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Westwood. Mention you are a local and they will give you a discount — that should help with anyone complaining about the prices!

I always come here to get my beauty products. As a student, I also get an additional 15% off! how niceeeee! They carry a wide variety of products, so if you’re ever around you should definitely swing by! Cons I feel that they are constantly(more like every SINGLE time i need a hair product) trying to sell me this brand called PI Potions(or something like that). I’ve never found any reviews for this product, but they always say«it’s a best seller.» I generally never give in, but it’s just kind of weird how they always try and get me to buy it.

I almost got ripped off here! I went in to pick up a bottle of essential oil. The older man asked the younger whether the essential oils were about $ 7 and the younger man said, «what, they’re essential oils! They’re $ 12!» and I had already seen the price sticker underneath that said $ 5.99. He turned around to the younger man and spoke in another language. At the counter, I asked to see the bottle and the older man held onto it with a death grip. I think he even opened it to let me smell it so that I wouldn’t see the sticker on the bottom. Not cool. I won’t be going back.

I’m a big fan of Joico’s Spiker ICE… a very sticky, form-holding hair product that is pretty hard to find. You can’t just go into any ‘ol beauty supply place and pick one up. Going into Westwood the other day, I decided to stop in just for shits and giggles. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by an overly excited gentleman from behind the counter. He said, «ahhh welllcome! How can I help you today?» I asked, «By any chance, do you carry Spiker ICE?» He said, «Of course, it’s one of the strongest hair products we have!» He began to talk about its history and how popular it is… then he showed me products that were similar to it in case I couldn’t find this one in the future. If I was a mystery shopper, I would’ve given him full points for the stellar customer service. The downfall? The price. For a small 5.1 oz tube, it was priced at $ 16.99… several dollars more than where you’d find it elsewhere… IF you can find it elsewhere. He gave me a 15% discount because he thought I was a student. It helped, but the end price was still a bit higher. I bought it anyway. Great service, though the price is still a bit exorbitant. I suppose it’s understandable because of Westwood prices in general!

I am a fan of the OPI Nail products. 2 owners are cool. I hate and I mean HATE to be mean, but one of the guys breath stinks so BEWARE of getting too close. Also, was let down a lil bit because I wanted to get this new perfume, but it is SOOO new that they can’t get it at a discount yet. Looks like this spoiled lil girly is going to get that perfume at FULLPRICE… LOL

Please note — Unilocal suggested that this business is also known as Nikki’s Beauty Supply — but when I went there today, it is definitely called The Spot Beauty as of August 2008. Looking for OPI and Essie nail polishes? Kerastase, KMS, Terax and other specialty hair products? Then The Spot Beauty is your place and it’s nice and convenient if you live in Westwood. While the place is on the small side(compared to my favorite beauty supply place in LA which is Wilshire Beauty), it has the essentials for grooming yourself salon-style if you like these kind of products. They also offer hair cuts, waxing and facials — the two people getting their hair cut while I was there were both young men. If I overheard correctly, their haircut pricing is $ 40 if you’re a student. Back to the products — the pricing was fair(e.g. same prices you see at most online beauty supply places) and the older male owner/manager who was helping me was quick to mention a 15% discount(which you could get if you were a) repeat client, b) student, or c) had a little 15% coupon card). Anyway, the owner/manager guy was very helpful though I couldn’t imagine he had any need for the products he sells because he’s balding and whatever the opposite word for metrosexual is, he is that. But he certainly seemed to exude passion for the products and was happy to help recommend some hair products and explain in-depth how I should use them. He was even able to accurately point out the trendiest nail colors. Be warned, if you even glance at a set of products he’ll begin talking about them — but I didn’t find it overbearing and I would definitely shop here again.
