Excellent! I just moved into the neighborhood and ate here for my first meal. It was fantastic and quick! They gave me free miso soup and included wasabi, soy sauce, siracha, and napkins! Lovely!

I come in about once every 2 weeks I like the service, I appreciate the complimentary miso soup. I usually order the pink lady roll or salmon sashimi which usually tastes fresh. I’ve tried the Unagi bowl which was good, but too much rice. The shrimp tempura appetizer is tasty. I’m not fond of the taste of the tuna here nor the spicy pork, the taste is average for those

Good food. Good service. Nice people. We came in late. Abut 30 minutes to close. My daughter accidentally spilled the water. They came quickly and nicely to clean up the mess and have us to sit on another table. They also tried to comfort my daughter and joked to help with the embarrassment. Will come back for sure.

New owner… better customer service(which is what it lacked the most) and still good sushi and stuff for the area! The delivery minimums are a little too high… or I would have this more often for lunch.

Nothing special about this place. Food was ok. I would recommend the chicken teriyaki

Food is decent but to get your food can take a while to arrive at your table. For our Washington roll, bbq chicken lunch special, and tempura noodle +crunch roll took well over 50 min. Then to top it off it all arrived different times. Want sushi for lunch just go somewhere else.

As a year long resident of Boyle Heights and a traveler of our country, I must say my expectations were low. I was so wrong. First the service is top notch. The owner was very welcoming and very cool. That alone would bring me back. However, the food, better than many places I’ve been to. Yup, I’m a regular now.

I LOVE this place!!! The staff is top notch with their customer service always so nice to us! We usually get the Caterpillar Crunch and it’s phenominal! It’s so tasty! My love for sushi started in this place! They have other awsome options and the lunch speciaL is very good also! I just love it! Oh and they sale mochi ice cream, very good as well! I believe owner changed recently but they are even better, however prices did increase but I’m ok with that since they never disappoint!

Amazing service! We been here several times and every single time we get taken care of with a vip treatment! Customer service is amazing here! The food is great the prices are reasonable. Love that is close to home so it’s nice to get away come here for a sushi fix. All in all, this place is the best! I must say, better than the Downey location of from Florence and paramount.

The food isn’t bad. The waitresses suck. They look like they don’t want to be there. Find another job then! I feel bad giving it 2 stars since I come all the time but, I literally had to walk up to ask for more water and even then she was like whatever. So I think this place would get better ratings if the service didn’t suck.

This is our go to sushi restaurant at work when we want to order in! Delivery is free on $ 30 orders. I recommend one of the lunch specials; so much food for a great price! You can even share. We have never had a big problem with them and we have been ordering for at least a year and a half. Just make sure that on Fridays you call ahead early or your lunch will be delivered late. Sushi is a fair price and tastes good. I have also eaten here a few times. I love that they serve miso soup with entrees! First of all, location sucks! No parking ever. If you’re picking up food during lunch time you might as well bring someone else to pick up the food while you wait in the car. The atmosphere isn’t very welcoming, it’s not the type of restaurant you go for the experience. Don’t expect to be greeted on your way in! That being said, I don’t recall any bad customer service while eating there. Only once when I called in to order pickup and I was put on hold for way too long while I got to listen to the waitress talk to another worker, taking her time to get back to me. The waitress wasn’t apologetic once she got back on the phone; any other person would have hung up and never went back again. But I will be back! I do love the sushi.

I was so disappointed after dinning in. I always come because its on my way before downtown LA. As I arrived I noticed they have made some changes to menu. While I was eating I was facing the sushi chef. He suddenly scratch his head twice, I was ok maybe he will wash his hands. He didn’t wash his hands and immediately grab rice with the same hand and started making a sushi for the next customers. I don’t think I have to explain more but I won’t be coming here.

Okay, so. My review this time is based on the customer service… I just very recently came to Samurai again,(Saturday the 8th to be precise) aaaaand, I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed with the female waiter and her service. First of all, she was the ONLY waiter there, like are you really serious? -.- second of all, I’m assuming she’s new since she appeared to be entirely clueless, dumbfounded and lost with just about everything. Also, I’m not sure if she’s the waiter that mister Huy mentioned in his review, but she was definitely and without the slightest doubt playing favorites. There was this couple with their kid already at the restaurant when my bf & I arrived and from that very second, I noticed how she was extremely attentive to the couple and came to refill their beverages, strike up conversations with them, join them in a laugh and just look at them with love & joy in her eyes. And then to us she was all quiet, weird, inattentive and she even gave me quite a couple nasty looks throughout my time there, like WTF did I do to you lady?! Not once did our drinks get refilled because she never fucking noticed us, so I had to get up like 2 or 3 times to fill our drinks on my own. It was just a bad experience honestly. I hope they replace her with someone more kind, livelier and attentive or just bring back the other young lady who used to be there all the previous times I’ve gone. And on a side note, our food did take quite a while to come and I found the rolls to be pretty wet and sorta greasy. I think it was all that sauce or something but didn’t like that too much.

Not sure about all the other bad reviews. Great spot, great customer service. Their food is always great, fresh made to order. I love this place and we come here often also. I love sushi :) Free parking — Cheap food. In the ghetto: D

I live right around the corner of this sushi place. First of all, there aren’t flys and there aren’t cockroaches. That’s why they have a «A» inspection for health and saftey. I have never gotten food poisoning from eating here, and I have a sensative stomach. Second of all, the waitress is tentative and friendly. And the food is deliver in a timely manner. I’m a regular customer here. And I have tried almost everything on the menu, but my favorite is the fresh avocado aii tuna roll. I love the special sauce, it’s my favorite. I also add sriracha on top, and wrap it with ginger. I drink it with jasmine green tea! The bomb! I’m a happy customer overall.

The front of house staff are thoroughly retarded. Everything you would want done right, they do wrong. No greeting, no menus brought to you, having to seek out a server when you want to order, entrées being brought out at disparate times. What I found is that, sushi of a reasonable price, in Los Angeles, sucks terribly. The best bang for your buck for sushi is the IE

This is one of the few sushi places I could find near Vernon. The sushi rolls are reasonably priced and there is a good amount of variety. If you had specialty rolls before, these are no different. Very average, decent portions. The only and biggest gripe I have with this place is the absolute shitty customer service. Very inefficient, rude, and short staffed. Your water will not get filled. You will have to wait a long time until you even get to order. You will wait a long time for your food. The staff will sometimes play favorites with some customers. The waitresses need to be trained and are extremely unattentive. If you have more than an hour to just throw away, come here; otherwise avoid. I gave this place 2 chances and was disappointed both times.

Pretty Legit Place, Close To Home. Picked Up A Couple Of Sushi Rolls For My Saturday Night. First Thing That Caught My Eye Was The Beautiful Female Who Took My Order. She Wasn’t Only Beautiful She Was Very Sweet And Helpful. Makes Me Want To Stop By Every Friday night Now. Just Kidding. But In All Honesty Good food, Fair Price, And Good Service.

Review from I think December I was there. Service was good the girl was really nice and interactive. Wait time there was none we were served really fast it was only me and friend and another 4 people so maybe that’s why. Only sushi place in Boyle heights that I can think of and it’s good plus it’s in the same plaza as my favorite Thai place Thai Silk So about the food only tried the sushi and it was good, yummy because I had not had any sushi in a loooong time. My friend had the caterpillar roll and I had some salmon one wish if had a catchy name because I can’t remember it. I will definitely be going back.
