SO delicious! I loved the Porchetta truck. If you liked this then you should all try Bucato… same chef!

The porchetta truck is no more but his restaurant is about to open so I thought I should write a quick eulogy to my friend and my lover the porchetta. The sandwich was probably one of the best deals in town. Packed with flavor it was tender and a hot mess that would ooze down my arm but what a delicious mess it was. Every bite was packed with joy and I can’t wait till the restaurant opens so that we can be reunited again. For those who didnt’ have a chance to meet this porcine friend of mine, head to Bocato and get a taste. I’ll see you ther.

There are plenty of great sandwiches in L.A. but this culinary feast deserves to be at the top of the list. The crazy thing is that it only cost $ 6 bucks, add a egg for $ 2 and you have a meal that could easily cost 3 times that amount any where else in L.A. The truck is only going to be around for another couple weeks, so go find it @BucatoLA you wont be disappointed. I know this sound like some crazy commercial but who cares their Porchetta is really that good.

took forever to hunt this truck down. but totally worth it after 30 min of stair climbing cardio in culver city. got one w a sunny side egg. fresh, warm bread. perfectly executed sunny side egg. porchetta – im not used to thin slices, as ive always had chunks of it, but it was still excellent. the fried piece of pork skin added great additional texture. and i was glad it had some vegetable(rocket) in it. so good i got a second one. apparently the truck is closing down in 2 – 3 weeks, so get it while u can!

This is, to me, the epitome of what a food truck should be. Don’t do a thousand things. Do one, and make it the best. I’ve never had porchetta before this, but holy hell this is a great sandwich. The egg yolk(get it with the egg — trust) meshes perfectly with the pork, and the crispy skin gives it some extra backbone. It’s a bit sloppy, of course, thanks to the yolk, but it’s worth every used napkin.

Now THIS is a freaking SANDWICH. Enter Evan Funke’s food truck, currently roaming the streets of LA in place of Bucato, his soon to be Helm’s place restaurant which I am now waiting for more eagerly than any other restaurant opening. It’s a simple truck, white and a little disheveled. A casual brown board lays out your choices and there are not many. Basically you get a porchetta sandwich, choose to egg or not to egg. And you can buy something to drink. The hardest choice you’ll have to make is between adding a fried egg or soft scrambled egg atop that beautiful porchetta and since I do not have the wisdom to choose… I got both. The resulting sandwiches were MASTERPIECES. Gorgeous, thick and smoky porchetta roasted to savory perfection, along with a thick, crispy slice of pork skin that adds a perfect crunch and body. Once you split the fried egg and drench the sandwich in that beautiful yolk you’ll have one of the best sandwiches you’ll ever eat in your hands. Or maybe you decided to go with the soft scrambled, which I admit I was a little prejudiced against. As a faithful, modern-y foodie living in LA, fried eggs-atop-prettymuchanything is a golden standard. You never say no. That would be sacrilege. But after this version of the porchetta sandwich… I am confused about my life. The soft scrambled eggs added a fantastic creamy texture that paired so well with the rich pork and the crunchy pork skin. Along with the toasted bread every mouthful was rich, creamy, savory and satisfying. I still can’t make up my mind which version is better, so I’ll just have to keep ordering both until I find the wisdom to choose. Sacrifices will need to be made. I will absolutely be back. This porchetta sandwich has taken it’s place as one of the top 2 best sandwiches I’ve ever had, right along with Larchmont.

The Porchetta Truck sells one thing only, the porchetta sandwich. They’re obviously really serious about their sandwich. The sandwich itself is $ 6 and it’s an additional $ 2 for a sunny-side up egg. THEEGGIS A MUST. Don’t skimp out on it, seriously, don’t. The porchetta is tender, very well seasoned, and you get a hint of citrus. You also get a bit of texture from the pork skin chips on the top layer. It’s just a great composed sandwich.(Not the best porchetta sandwich I’ve ever had but good!) Your hands WILL get messy. Just dig in and deal with it. What I love about this truck is that their prices are extremely affordable and fair. I’ve been hating and avoiding food trucks these days because they always overcharge you but not this one here.

Haha, talk about food truck eateries. THIS is what a food truck is — janky truck, no decorative paintings, and no signs. It’s literally a white truck with cardboard signs with spray painted words. The menu? Porchetta sandwich Egg Soda Water That’s it guys. DONOTBEFOOLED by this truck. Their sandwich is TODIEFOR. I don’t know what they do, but it’s amazing. It’s not the biggest sandwich in the world, but it’s filling enough. FAT pieces of pork belly, skin, greens, and lemon juice = the best thing you will have for lunch. FYI: this sandwich is GREASY. If you can’t take greasy foods, you might want to re-think this or only eat half. But please don’t be intimidated by it — it’s heaven and all kinds of deliciousness. Worth every bit of grease you get. :) This truck is a stand in for a more permanent opening of Bucato from former Rustic Canyon chef, Evan Funko. I seriously can’t wait for this restaurant to open. Until then? I’ll keep looking out for this truck on Food Truck alley during my lunch break. Thank the heavens for such an amazing sandwich.

I’ve been seeing this truck in Food Truck Alley for a week now and finally decided to try them out. Oh man, I’ve eaten there 3 days in a row since then for lunch. I never knew what Porchetta was before I had this sandwich. The crispy skin on top of the pork lion, strips of pork belly and lemon juice just makes me want more. I really can’t wait to try the restaurant when it opens up.

Delicious Porchetta sandwich for only $ 5! Served on ciabatta, with a buttery garlic spread, lemon juice, and arugula. The layer of crispy pork fat was my favorite! Super friendly and quick service, too!

This is a $ 15 to $ 20 restaurant item served from a non-descript white food truck for $ 5 without an egg and $ 7 with an egg fried in duck fat. With or without the egg is the question! Don’t walk, run and stalk this truck via @BucatoLA One bite, and you’ll have thought you’ve died and gone to hog heaven. With its slow roasted savory flavor, tasty crispy skin, the porchetta made from the loin and belly of locally sourced heritage pigs is one, if not the most, of the tastiest things I’ve ate in LA, and I eat out a lot. All of this deliciousness is served on a Rockenwagner bun in perfect proportion to that bun. This last Friday of 2012, I actually had two, one with and one without the egg, so for $ 12 I was stuffed like a pig literally and figuratively… but very happy. Btw, read some of my other reviews: I’m not a shill. I’m just a very satisfied customer. Great back ground article: Chef Evan Funke’s porchetta sandwich; with or without an egg that’s the question.

The balls on these guys… they drive down to a Jewish neighborhood and sell Italian pork sandwiches out of a truck. I saw them in front of The Dime on Fairfax and they have two menu items: Porchetta and Soda. Good thing their sandwiches are delicious. They take succulent slices of pork, put it on a bun fried in duck fat, add some arugula and onions, then top it off with a little lemon juice. It’s a little messy, but you won’t care. For $ 5, you can’t beat it for late night munchies. These guys aren’t stopping with just a truck selling sandwiches, they’re opening up an Italian restaurant soon and I can’t wait.

Ya’ll don’t even know. So Porchetta is not really meant to be a permanent food truck. According to , it’s just a temporary stand-in until Chef Evan Funke gets his new restaurant running in Culver City. After trying his Porchetta, I’ll have to make my way over there for the grand opening of Bucato(slated in the next few weeks). In my random LA escapades on a Wednesday night, I found myself outside of Rosewood Tavern, a dope bar in mid city. My drinking buddy points out an unmarked food truck with barely any décor but a rag draped over the side door. [ Porchetta ] What in the world is that? I had to sample it since the aroma in the air was that of buttery bread and bacon(actually pork belly, but same animal, right?) Only 5 bucks? Hell, I’ll buy one for my friends too — and so I did. -=-Porchetta-=- ~~ORGASMIC~~ Out comes this humongo ciabatta sandwich, uncharacteristic portions compared to other food trucks and also at an uncharacteristic price. I swear that every component of this sandwich can be eaten individually and provide a 5 star experience. The ciabatta bread is buttery toasted. The porchetta pork has a lime zing and is slow cooked to tender perfection. The crunchy pork is an auditory delight with each chomp. I dreamt about this sandwich that night and had to get another the next night. Ugh, I’m exhausted. And now I want another. Hat trick? If you wanna find it, they say go here: Info from the net about this temp truck:
