If you want the rolls royce of headshots this is where you go! I’ve shot with Peter 3 times by now and he is by far the best photographer I know… and trust me this is coming from someone who works with actors everyday at an acting school and I see hundreds of horrible headshots, that they pay over $ 600-​$ 700 for! What a waste!
Peter has an incredible personality, and will without a doubt get the best out of you. He gives incredible direction, makes you laugh in the process, and makes sure you don’t have one bad picture. He’s not one of those photographers that will click away and hope that out of a thousand pictures you’ll have a good one in there somewhere. He refuses to shoot if the shot will not be phenomenal.
I recommend Peter ten times over, if you as an actor know this is a business and your picture is your business card then shooting with Peter is a no brainer investment!

I shot with Peter about 6 years ago back in New York. That’s how good his work is. Six years and I am booking more work than ever from the same headshots!
However, I am getting a little more mature and felt it was time to update the pics. Having just moved to LA, I was not looking forward to going through the arduous task of finding a new photographer. Every website I would go to, the pictures all looked the same… so generic. Nothing was standing out to me.
Out of nostalgia, I went to Peter’s page and was thrilled to find that he’s shooting out here as well!
The thing that first drew me to his work years ago and brought me back again is that everything is so clean, classic and truly timeless. It’s about the actor and not getting distracted by whatever is in the background.
Peter said to me during our shoot, «I used to strive to make everyone look pretty. But, somewhere along the line I realized, any photographer can make someone look pretty. I want to make them look interesting.»
And that philosophy is what I truly believe makes him stand out well above the rest. You see a «Peter Hurley Headshot» and instantly are intrigued by the person.
And not only that, but he is great to work with. Peter truly has an effortless nature that instantly puts you at ease, he makes you laugh and shooting with him is a lot of fun. We shot for about 5 hours and the time just flew by. The more relaxed, natural and at ease you are, the better you will be in front of a camera; and Peter has a gift. Not only for creating amazing headshots but for bringing such a warm energy to the studio that you are able to truly shine in front of the camera.

I’m going to start out by saying that I’m very very very pleased with my new headshots.
No one recommended Peter Hurley to me. I went on LA Casting in search of a new photographer, since I was in very much need of new headshots. I went into every photographers website until I found Peter Hurley’s website. Yes, I went into every photographers website since he was in LA Castings very last page. I saw his website and thought hmmm… nice, different then I saw his work and thought… I like… then I saw his videos… and said… I can work with this guy, he’s super cool, outgoing, comforting & funny. I was looking for a photographer that wouldn’t make me feel intimidated, those days were over. If I was paying big bucks that person needed to be good and nice! I needed to feel comfortable! Most importantly I needed to know that my photographer had experience and knew what he was doing. Knowing he shot in NY, was icing in the cake! I was completely sold!
My experience with him was awesome! He made me feel extremely comfortable. And brought a lot of great things out of me, that perhaps not a lot of photographers can do or have done, he’s truly unique with his techniques and he’s very easy going which was a plus!!! I don’t know about you but I’m not a model, so when I get in front of a camera I need some type of direction. He’s wonderful at that, and he doesn’t make you feel awkward, uncomfortable nor adds any pressure. He definitely works well with people and he’s very patient.
Not to mention he works with the best technology and state of the art equipment. It was really cool to see my pictures instantly as we shot. We were able to delete shots and retake them on the spot. When I left his studio, I left with over 200 pictures and they were all good!
Oh, and the makeup artist that works with him is truly an amazing person and very good at what she does. I know many of you will try to do your own makeup, but I don’t recommend it, unless you’re a makeup artist and still then she knows his work and what he wants. I feel like you need the whole package to get great pics! And they’re a great team!
His Downtown Loft Studio is great! Very clean, located in a great area, where you don’t think you’ll get mugged, a ton of street parking, the building is very secure, & it doesn’t feel sketchy at all.
I was sold when I saw his videos on Youtube. He reaches out to people like me. I felt that with his video I already got a great vibe from him and knew that I would be very happy working with him. And I was right. He is great! I really recommend Peter Hurley to anyone. He definitely puts you at a different level. I know that with these new headshots I will be booking very soon! YAY! I was soooo happy with how my day turned out. And although he’s a bit pricey for many of us trying to find work in LA, he’s definitely the investment I needed in order to book! I did think about it twice to get these done with him and thought of going with someone cheaper. But I’m sooo happy I went with my gut feeling cause it was really worth every penny. And after I saw my pictures, I would’ve paid more!!!
I can’t emphasize how great this turned out. Already less than a month and people have already complemented me on my pictures! Thanks Peter! See you when I need new headshots, cause I’m definitely coming back!!! :)
